He has a release clause that's ridiculously low so we've got no advantage over any other club. Where he goes is up to him alone.
Yeah, sadly so.

Well on the plus side - he won't go to Barca. If he goes to Madrid - we could get CR7 back ;)...so that leaves Bayern (also overstocked with attackers), City, Chelsea, PSG (doubt he'd want to go there) and us. Let's be kind to Pool and add them in as well.

As for Reus, we don't need anymore attacking options, but for £20 million, it's just too good a deal to pass up. Any top club in world football should and will go for him. He'll choose either Real, Barca or Bayern.

Barca won't sign him. Sorry, Barca CANNOT sign him. I think he will go to Bayern or Madrid. But you never know, as muppets it's our job to live in hope. :D

I wouldn't rule out Arsenal of getting Reus. They're splashing the cash, will more than likely have Champions League football and their German contingent might persuade him.

It'll be interesting to see if he goes to Madrid as they have Bale, James, Ronaldo, Isco and Benzema already fighting for those 3 spots. I guess as Ronaldo reaches 30 it could be that he is moved forward into Benzema's position but that's still Bale and James he's fighting for a spot with.

Barcelona obviously not an option.

It leaves Bayern and us as the two most obvious options with Chelsea and Co sniffing around refusing to turn down such a good player. Bayern makes perfect sense with Robben and Ribery ageing but I have a feeling Reus would rather move to a new league.

Liverpool fans will fancy their chances, though I'm not sure anyone else would. I think we'd be out of the picture unless we got CL back, the difference between one and two years out of it could be pretty severe.

Anyone hear the reports that Vidal broke down with a knee injury while playing for Chile.

Yep, the Express is running a story about it based on some Chilean reports. Whether the news is genuine remains to be seen.

£19.8m release clause for Reus? That's dirt cheap. He may not be in a priority position, but at that price, any top club would be crazy not to go for him.

It was confirmed we offered Dortmund big money for him earlier in the window and they refused. With the money we seem to be happy to pay out on wages these days and the superstar squad we have already assembled it's not difficult to imagine us attracting him next summer even with the other big suitors in for him. I just wonder whether we went for Di Maria as an "Or" option for him this year.

A couple of days ago El Confidencial (Spanish paper) reported that Real Madrid have agreed with Dortmund to have first option on Reus next summer. It's quite obvious that he'll leave (refused Dortmund's new contract without a release clause), which is a huge shame for Dortmund - losing their best player every fecking summer must be unbearable for their fans.

I can see Real buying Reus. There were rumours of them buying him this summer after we signed Di Maria and obviously Perez is determined to get him. I guess Dortmund are resigned to losing him and will push him for a move to a foreign club just so he doesn't go to Bayern.

It'd be interesting if Madrid were to sign Reus, possible Ronaldo exit to accommodate him?

Doubt it. After all, they always sign players and only then think about how they'll fit into their first team. Once Perez wants a player, sooner or later he gets him.

Ronaldo is still a goal machine and unless there's a decline in his game, he's going nowhere. Real losing him would hit them hard commercially as well and they won't allow it. If I had to guess, he'll leave on a free once his contract expires and he's no longer on top of his game/valuable to the team.

Van Persie will be 32 next year, Rooney 30 and there's a good argument that both are over the hill already. If top players like Reus become available, they'd be better than what we have.

What are you talking about? Rooney just had one of this best seasons last year even under the ''Moyes'' effect. 17 goals and 10 assists as a #10 in the league and 2 goals 8 assists (most assists in the competition in the UCL last year.

As for RVP, he didn't have a long enough run of games to capture much form but last year he scored 12 goals in 15 starts in the league.

People are too quick to jump on ''they're past it'' wagon. Our entire team has being wank in our first 3 games, no width, pace or creativity. How can you justify blaming our strikers when their supply is coming form Cleverly, Fletcher, Young & Valencia. The latter two who haven't a clue where to be in the system. The only creative option we had was Mata who was marked out of the game, simple tactic; stop the supply stop the goals.

I didn't necessarily say it was the truth, just that it was a good argument. I think it's quite fair to say that both have been pretty poor for a while, particularly Van Persie. They're both excellent footballers but Van Persie's all round contribution seems to deteriorate with every game and Rooney seems to have lost all his pace and ability to play on the counter. I reckon Falcao hitting the ground running could bring a lot out of both of them.

I know this dried up a while ago but if he gets his form and fitness back could anyone see us trying for Gundogan if Strootman fails?

Almost forgot he existed. If his back isn't completely screwed he's a beast.

My thoughts exactly and he'd only be 24 if we signed him, was one of my favourite players before his injury.

Gundogan was indeed a boss but he's too similar to Herrera, can't see us going for him even if he gets back to fitness.

Strootman isn't that far away from Herrera either though. In the long run we will hopefully be in Europe and need a bigger squad, so we'd appreciate the depth.

I was going to say even before the recent tweet about the "cold war at Madrid between Perez and Ronaldo" that all the signs recently have been that Ronaldo himself wants to move back to United. Personally I think he has achieved what he wanted there. He helped get "La Decima" helped win the league and Spanish cups and has gained another Ballon d'or. He's older now, more mature and to be honest I think the big brother spotlight and crazy roller-coaster ride of Real Madrid is pissing him off a bit. I think he sees it more as a giant circus or a summer blockbuster that is going on who they buy and play rather than a pure football team that wouldn't sell Di Maria or Ozil just to accommodate their shiny new toys. I think he genuinely misses the family atmosphere of United and Old Trafford. Whether that still exists as Ronaldo knew it in the dressing room is another matter, but it certainly would do from the fans.

He has voiced his displeasure at losing Alonso and Di Maria as he did the year before about Ozil. He has also grumbled about not signing Falcao. The Madrid supporters are very openly worried that his injuries are stacking up and that he is on the decline. It's easy to see why when you see how he plays and how much he gives in every single game. However, he's not overly dissimilar to Giggs and who better to give him advice on how to stay fit and adapt his game than our own Ryan? But a couple of the RM fans on here have openly said they are worried about him being so upset and also his possible decline due to age and fitness/injuries.

Granted his commercial power is still outstanding, but Perez didn't seem to mind letting Di Maria go. Ronaldo leaving would be negated by bringing in players like Reus, Vidal or even someone like Sterling. Madrid really do seem to just go and buy the biggest names each season. So personally I don't think Ronaldo leaving would be surprising at all. However, even if he did leave there are no guarantees United would buy him. His price would probably be ridiculous for his age and we will have to see if he can stay relatively injury free this season. I just hope IF he does leave of course he comes back to United. But if he didn't I'd like to hope he would stick to his words of never playing for another Premier League side, unlike blaggers like Lampard.

Strootman is a better version of Carrick, great passer a and sits deep. Herrera should be running all around the midfield and getting forward with the attacks, that's what Gundogan used to do for Dortmund.

 @ Bielsa

I had to laugh at this one as well. The cheek of Perez

Makes sense despite sounding a bit disingenuous. They're expanding the Bernabeu which will cost ~ £350m.
