Why is no one bidding on Davids? Ffs. I never planned to get him for 20m :lol:. Well, my midfield is set then:

A sign how much wingers are out of favour. It used to be the case that clear insides were depicted as wingers, now a clear wing option is turned into an inside. Amazing how maleable conventional wisdom is.

That's by the way my problem with very young players :). You asked earlier in one of the games, why people have problems to rate players like Vidal, Modric. Well, the problem is that the overall career influences how already retired players preformed during their peak. Sucks, but it makes it really difficult.

I suspected you would get stuck the moment you put that bid in, plenty needing defensive reinforcements and budgets are tight. Davids is a luxury option for them. That and Pol deciding to chase Keane for some reason, Davids works better in his setup but I suppose he wants to keep Modric left (?).

Cracking trio though.

I actually bid so early again on Thuram, so that crappy could outbid Pol/Theon on Keane so that Pol/Theon could outbid me on Davids :lol:. Worked well :(

Ah, because you acknowledge when assessing the other peak you are watering it down? I'd argue if you actually watched them at their peak the watering down + romanticism sort of evens up. The big problem is when people were too young to catch DP/Raúl's peak and average out their witnessed performance over the 00's.

Crappy completely fecked that up. If you 100% want a player you wouldn't be making constant large incremental bids. Scare away? Either Pol wants him or is trying to get him to waste his budget, why not wait things out until Pol has his hands in many puddings? It would be much clearer what the score is then.

Fair enough, yeah that's a problem which often leads to misjudging the actual peak.

I actually thought it would have been a pointless raise because of how much money you have!

Would have loved Davids but I thought you would have just kept going up to 30m or something, so didn't see the point.

I don't think it will happen all the time, but there is little point tying up funds at this stage and not being able to bid on other players when you're just going to get outbid.

Keane's better than Davids and was going for cheaper at the time, and we had more chance of winning a bidding war on him than against you for Davids.
 
I am willing to sell Lewandowski if anybody would want him. One of the best strikers in the draft and was bought for 10 millions, now he is on sale - money back guarantee if you aren't satisfied after a round of FREE trial.
 
I must say I have no idea why Edgalf have bought Deco here, especially since they already had 4 MFs.

It was pretty obvious he was trying to get others to commit their money. Deco, Del Piero and Giggs were never going to suit him. As it stands he is stuck with Deco and Balu is stuck with Giggs and Del Piero for engaging in the same game.

In the meantime, everyone else watches them burn cash bidding for the players no one wants.

I'm shocked Pol didn't go for Davids ahead of Keane though, much better fit, must be another case of raising to screw others...

Will anyone actually get the players they want at all?

I rate them on par which is a fair reflection of their performances during their best years in the late 1990s and early 2000s. It's only on here where we've got the triple-whammy of United fans, a strong Irish contingent and an audience that mainly watched English football that Keane gets regarded as head and shoulders above any other box-to-box midfielder of his era. Sitting him alongside Davids is no criticism.

Pol quite clearly will fancy Pirlo, and I would fancy Davids-Vidal in front of him ahead of any combination of Keane, Modric and Vidal. I suspect the point was making crappy overcommit. If so, well done, now try get Davids from Balu instead of raising Keane any further. No?
