Wowza! A 2M raise on Ryan Giggs!

This is going to be like watching paint dry, everyone expecting others to do an Aldo and nail their colours on a mast before moving onto who they actually want.

A Transfer Muppet Challenge for those of you getting bored. As you know, I've dusted off CM Italia (1996) and been playing that for the last few weeks. Fully expecting to get bored senseless with my all-conquering Milan side, I had a little project on the sidelines picking up all the regens I could get my hands on for the mighty Cosenza, which is frankly the only way you could get half decent players for it.

For those too young to know, when players retired in CM their age got reset, name changed (combining names and surnames from fellow countrymen), but they came back aged 18-23 with the full peak values of their former selves (and all physical attributes upgraded to their age, Benjamin Button-style). So the challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to work out who these chaps are bearing in mind they would have retired in CM between 1996-98.

I know, a bit top heavy and imbalanced but you will understand once you work it out. At least @Isotope will!

Already through to the CWC semi :D

On the bench (and should be on the pitch but Dieng should prove a challenge) is the exceptional Da Silva Brown...

Laurent Dieng ain't George Weah, who is still banging them in, but not as much as Da Silva Brown or Hassler, who isn't Rudi.

He is indeed. That refers both to Eric and Jurgen. Laurent made it too easy!!!! :annoyed:

I spent ages trying to find him and the last place I looked was Dieng, L.

Well done! One to go...

See Balu? This is how it's done! I'm still waiting for you to decipher that fish picture.

All of them playing for the mighty Cosenza, who two years on still congratulate me on every game won, league position, etc. not like those feckers at Milan who only opened their mouth to complain... That was an epic Guardiola WTF moment, quit after winning the CL for the second season running and take up the job at Cosenza, then a year later beat them 5-4 in the Supercoppa (Charity Shield).

Trailing them in the league though, made them too fecking good :(

Topfler is Matthaus?

Can't find Cabrera. :(

Yups, Karl-Heiz Topfler is Lothar Matthäus, paired with the rejuvenated reincarnation of Chelsea's SW/DMC Gullit

Re: Cabrera, have you checked the 1986 and 1990 World Cups already?

Cabrera can be Italian/Argentine/Uruguayan. Can't find many top names. Vierchowod?

Zenga indeed. Cabrera is just good old Wilmer Cabrera, the only good quality SW/DLC Cosenza could afford/attract.

Now, who is Da Silva Brown?
And Claudio Sosa? He is still on my shortlist as I don't really need him, much like in your sheep draft. Wanted but nowhere to play him.

Da Silva Brown is a tough one. Is that a British name? Could be Brazilian but don't think that's Bebeto. Lineker retired before 96.

No, it's the sort of magnificent name you get in a country that names players Welington or Willian. I used to have an employee called Richard Nixon dos Santos

Bear in mind CM used to force retire foreign players aged 31-33 if they weren't in a big team or the NT.

Careca? And you wanted to reunite him with Diego but Dieng/Cantona was in better form? :p

Good thinking, but no, nothing to do with form. He is top scorer with five more than second placed Batistuta.

Why would I take him out of that teamsheet and present him as a standalone?

The funny thing is this was meant to entertain those waiting and it's only Aldo here with all his cards already on the table

Of course he is! If I had a Brazilian striker in a teamsheet with Borimirov and Schmeichel it would be so friggin' obvious!!!!
