Its strange, but before I took over Fergus' team I'd almost forgotten about him in terms of these drafts, he's just gotten so little mention. A shame as he was brilliant. In retrospect I don't think I was stretching it that much when I said he was on a similar level to Rivaldo.

I like Del Piero but I think that is pushing it personally, I'd have him at best on par with Totti who I've always thought was a slightly better player. Level with Shevchenko was fair to me, though I prefer Sheva slightly.

I think Rivaldo was a tier above all those players - Totti, Sheva, Del Piero - and closer to Ronaldo's level. Though not quite there.

I think you were stretching it with that comparison and it might have been easier to set his best season against an equivalent campaign from Giggs or Zidane for example. That said I rate pre-injury Del Piero higher than most on the Caf. He was a phenomenon.

That's a good point. That 1997-1998 season of his was phenomenal, and would probably bare comparison with any equivalent from Giggs or Zidane.

This is a real drag and has really sucked out all the excitement.

I think before starting the draft we should have gotten everyone to nominate 50 players for sale in this round. And then put them on the list. That's it, no more additions. Would have been much better. This is just people out waiting each other to start bidding on someone, as I predict would happen in auction drafts going forward.

We should have cut the time period to 12 or six hours. Would have solved all these issues

The simple solution is to force every manager to put forward one or two names with a bid from the very beginning and then every 24 hours from the start every manager with available funds MUST have a bid going or pay a penalty (not strict, recent activity should be fine or else you would get stupid shit like people outbidding them just before the deadline). If a manager is done for the round he can declare himself out.

Wowza! Chris Bart-Williams had great stats indeed, Gazza had more 20s. I'm positive it's Le Tiss, used to pick him quite regularly and the relative strengths/weaknesses look around the usual for him.

I already have Valencia. Giggs gives me option for 4-4-2. Value and vote winner for 10m. Was never planning on bid war, but useful to have cheap!

Jesus, if you play Valencia in next round then you have already lost my vote.

I don't like either of those formations. I have no idea how either is better than the diamond either. You should have stuck with that really. People loved Zidane at the top of the diamond, Pirlo at bottom is always rated.
 
Ffs, the way this is going, Theon and Pol will end up getting Pirlo, Gattuso, Carlos and Kaka for 50m :lol:. Everyone is playing it safe now and therefore the prices stay way too low.
 
Put a 24 hour deadline on nominations. Whoever isn't nominated by the end of that deadline is out of the game. Then whoever goes a further 24 hours without any bids is out. It's pretty obvious which players teams need to target so I don't see the benefit of waiting it out too long. If you're waiting for Pirlo, there's a good chance someone else is as well.

It's not my fault this time, I instantly started bidding and wanted to have fun with the big names this time, after missing all the fun in the beginning last time. And you really pushed me for Thuram :mad:. Nesta went for 8m less, ffs, all your fault. I could have used my financial advantage even better.

I much prefer Cannavaro and Thuram. I don't think Nesta and Cannavaro ever played beyond or even to their individual qualities. A partnership with the potential to be one of the best in history, but that was never really the case.

We were never planning to get Pirlo, the idea was suggested but in the end we decided a different direction. Not sure what we're doing now at all.

I think the prices are actually really underpriced and the people who wait are gonna lose out. Giggs for 17m is silly really, same for Davids at just 20m. I think both should be higher when you look at the number of great wingers and midfielders on Davids level.

Thuram makes much more sense in my team, excelled twice with Cannavaro in the team and also as a centerback next to Sagnol for the nationalteam. With Abidal also in the team, it really was a no brainer. And that's without mentioning that he played with Veron and Crespo at Parma. I also agree with Annah, that Nesta + Cannavaro never looked that great as a partnership. And then there's the tactical option of going for a 5man defense with Abidal, Cannavaro, Thuram later or play Thuram as a rightback and add another quality centerback later.

You really wanted him to strengthen your 3 man defense right? Would have been brilliant for you, no doubt. Sorry mate.
