Transfer deadline day

 6 months. He's been a PL regular for 6 months. A chunk of that he spent injured. He's no more a "dominant, consistent" striker than Amr Zaki was in his first PL season.

As an aside, what does everyone reckon Welbeck is worth now?

Well said, and I'll chuck in a Mido at Spurs for good measure.

Thirty Five Million Pounds

Thirty fecking Five Million Pounds

WHAT THE FECK IS UP WITH THE WORLD!!

You Can't Spell Liverpool Without L-O-L!

He's got shite hair and he's their shame, Carroll, Carroll,

He's not the meaning of bargain, Carroll, Carroll,

They bought the lad for girl from Spain

And will be better than Rooney

Andy Carroll, bloody fecking hell!

He punched a girl in the face,

His hair's a disgrace,

Andy Carroll, Liverpool's something.

I never imagined it'd reach this level. Panic buying at it's best, I dread to think what RAWK are making of this.

They're either proclaiming him the next Messiah, or proclaiming him the next Messiah.

Definite panic buy unless Kenny genuinely thinks they can get 4th place this season. A real long shot even with these possible buys.

I think the price tag will go a long way in making Andy Carroll a failure. He'll never been flashy nor among the very best, but he's got the potential to bang them in on a regular basis even for a top club in my opinion.

But $35 million? That's basically double the price I'd say he's worth.

Sturridge has never looked anywhere near good enough to play regularly for a team challenging in the CL (EDIT: Which is obviously the level Liverpool are aiming for). Carroll just might be, though they've overpaid massively for him.

But in Suarez they seem to have signed a direct replacement, and I've always thought Sturridge had decent potential. Couldn't 35m be spent on getting a winger and a left-back in, with a bit to spare?

Laugh away, dickhead. It was a valid point.

He's not a world beater, but anyone with half a fecking brain can see that his assault on the PL hasn't been a fluke - he's dominated world class CBs on occasion, including our own Vidic. He'll get Pool goals, lots of them, and that's what they need. If they also get Suarez and Adam, they'll be playing some nice football for the first time in a while.

Bent and Carroll for almost £60m. I don't know what to say.

Carroll is a good player but he is not Liverpool good.

Liverpool aren't even 'Liverpool good' any more, so I suppose it all works out in the end.

Chris Murphy:
So, Chelsea placate their fans with Torres, Liverpool placate theirs with Suarez and Carroll. Who do the Toon Army get to placate them?

He has done no such thing. I don't know why you're trying to justify this purchase. Chelsea are basically fecking them over by coming with such a late bid. Torres was their only good striker coming into January, they got a good alternative in Suarez, but Carroll can't be considered a viable replacement. Going by the transfer fee it all seems rosy. But wouldn't Forlan be a better choice?

feck me I WAS in a coma!

I can't see the point in this. There's a far superior version of Andy Carrol in Fernando Llorente out there and quasi-available for much less money and yet..

It's nice to not have our team involved in transfer day debacles for once. Can just relax and laugh at all the other outrageous prices and rumors being floated about, sitting in a nice perky position at the top of the table.

You what?

What game were you watching?

I'm not sure you understand the meaning of the words dominant/dominate.

Adam, Gerrard, Suarez, J. Cole...

If they can get their act together that is.

Adam isn't a Liverpool player, Gerrard hasn't been his best for a long time, Suarez is yet to be tested in this league, and Joe Cole is a spastic.

Anyway, this detracts from laughing at Liverpool, which is what I think we should be doing.

Carroll is never going to be in the same league as Torres. He dominated squat. Every player has some nice patch of games here and there. I can't see Carroll being better than Bent in a big team tbh. He's a big fish in a small pond.

Suarez is coming into an unknown league. He may succeed he may flop.

Torres is a huge loss for them as he's their star player.

Pool would certainly not be a better side with Adam, Carroll and Suarez, but no Torres.

He hasn't on occasion? Vidic isn't world class then?

No. No, he hasn't.

It's clear you rate the bloke but why resort to make-believe to support your argument? Carroll looked nothing more than a big, awkward, clumsy Championship level striker when we played Newcastle.

He's improved since but come on, he didn't dominate anyone at Old Trafford.

Lots of rumors about Adam to United. Transfer Monkey has been banging on about it as well

Ollie_Davis Charlie Adam is 1/4 to join Man Utd and 4/1 to join Liverpool. WTF?!

Nah, Pogue - he was better than that. 'Dominate' is silly, but Carroll showed some good flashes, and definitely did well considering he was on his own up there.

People need to put money on him joining L'pool. 4/1...lots of money to be made there.

What's with the Adam rumors?

empireofthekop I am hearing the Man Utd are outbidding us for Charlie Adam

Opponents of Twitter can say what they want, but it makes deadline day a lot more ridiculous and therefore exciting.

The Adam rumours are fuelled by Sklybet who make up odds to get people betting.

In the summer Robben was odds on to join Liverpool - and United were 1/8 to sign Villa.
