Have we had this every year?

Would be stupid to raise our expecations with nothing happening.

It's been a shite day so far. We'll probably announce Martial at some point today and that'll be it.

MARTIAL PASSES MEDICAL

Sky sources understand Anthony Martial has passed his medical at Manchester United and has returned to France to link up with the French national side.

Now all we await is the official announcement of the deal!

Dosen't look like we'll be doing anything other then Martial.

Our squad depth is really worrying.

Think we've got decent cover in defence, midfield we're definitely strong in quality and depth, it's the attack we're lacking numbers and quality in. Doesn't help that we've lost a further 2 players yesterday and so far replacing them with a 19 year prodigy. I guess Pereira and Wilson will be fast tracked..?

We've got cover in defence, but I think the quality of our defence drops dramatically if you take Smalling out of it... and with his injury record...

But yeah, it's up top that worries me (and everyone else I'm sure)... I don't understand the logic in loaning Januzaj out at all, he's arguably our 3rd most creative player.

Goes from starting our last few games to being loaned out. Its beyond bizarre!

Would be very surprising if we don't strengthen further up front. LVG has been calm in press conferencens concerning the striker situation as he has explained that he has Wilson, Adnan and Chicharito as backup. Losing two of those and replacing with only one (not proven) option seems very strange.

I am relaxed about the balance of the squad in other areas.

Out wide is a bigger concern. Our options are a 20 year old Memphis, Ashley Young, and Juan Mata, who is probably best through the middle. I guess you can count Valencia too, which makes it worse. :nervous:

The BBC's coverage of this is pretty desperate. They keep writing blurbs from some "Football Manager computer game expert" about signings. Such as this, about Chelsea's new signing Papy Djilobodji:

"Physically strong and good in the air, this limited defender is not exactly a marquee signing and is rated by FM as being no more than a good Championship level player with little scope for improvement. He’s valued at just over £1m and can be bought from Nantes for little over that. In my longest save, he never leaves the French club and never averages over 7.00 in a season, suggesting that Chelsea’s mooted purchase is a little panicky"

And now this about Regan Poole:

"This young Welshman has the potential to be a decent Premier League defender, according to FM. He is ambitious with a high work rate but is poor in the air and needs a lot of nurturing. In my longest game - 10 years down the line - he is at Burnley, valued at £250k, and has decent stats as a limited defender. His career average is a paltry 6.49, though, and he has never even troubled the Premier League. A curious move from Manchester United, this one."

Why are Sky and BBC using Football Manager now? It's so small time.

Still clinging to a Morgan type situation where no media outlets know any better and the medicals are done and the bloods will soon turn up on Twitter.

My common sense quota is diminishing by the minute, but we can't leave the squad this lightweight without having something lined up.

Can we? Can we!!!

Doesn't look too promising for us, usually some sort of rumours come ut before we sign someone, been really quiet.

This SSN coverage featuring commentary by the professionals is so laughable

"I don't think Stones wanted to leave Everton "
"He handed in a transfer request "
"I don't care about that"

That's exactly what I mean mate. Depending on what other business we do today (which I don't think will be any) I predict 5th for us this season.

 I'll bet you a 100 GBP that we'll finish at least 4th..

Can't see anything happening now, only a very outside chance that something will.

Was expecting to see 2 or 3 arrivals and a couple leaving in the run up to the end of the window. Really surprised that we've let Chicha and Januzaj go and possibly Wilson without getting sufficient back up in.

If we go far in the League Cup the squad will be on it's last legs by the time the FA cup kicks off.

You know I'd have taken that if I hadn't already made an actual bet on it. Sadly 2 years ago I predicted 5th and turned out I was being optimistic. This season I'm going 5th and hope I'm pessimistic.

It's just the attack that worries me so much and a little bit the GK situation. Of course if they plan on playing DDG then that resolves that. Just think in attack we've got so few options now.

For some reason, Stones is being painted as some saint even though he handed in a transfer request and wants out.

The media are teeing him up to be England's future captain lion, Mr England, Mr Professional, and so on.

Well, he is professional, right? He played last weekend for Everton and was good. I don't blame him for wanting Chelsea over Everton tbh.

We're not going to win the league, but we're not weaker than the likes of Arsenal/Spurs/Liverpool. I'm confident of 3rd, and certainly can't see them finishing below 4th.

Have this feeling we will sign Harry Kane today after yesterdays debacle deserve something.

Holloway is on SSN talking the truth about the shambles the club have become when it comes to transfers.

There's no way we'd be in this situation if Fergie and Gill were still here. Now way would De Gea have one year remaing on his contract.
