What are Arsenal upto, btw ?

They've signed just Cech despite the mooted 150 million kitty.

Martial for Hernandez is good, but letting Januzaj leave without getting another attacking player in, is madness. Pereira, Lingard and Wilson haven't featured this season so far and I don't think they're meant to play much with the exception of the odd COC and FA Cup game. As things stand (with only Martial coming in), we'll be 1 or 2 injuries/suspensions away from having to depend on them in important competitions/games. As talented as they are, we can't afford to do it if we have any aspirations to win something.

We need another attacking player badly, regardless of what happens with Wilson. It doesn't make any sense not to get another body in. Why would be let Januzaj leave after he started so many games so far without planning on replacing him? Why keep Lingard instead of Januzaj when he's not in the first team picture at all? Signing another player makes sense, but it's a bit worrying with so little time remaining.

I can't see how we can go from

Rooney, Hernandez, Wilson, Januzaj, Depay & Mata for 3 positions to:

Rooney, Martial, Depay & Mata...

With the amount of games extra this season it gives more minutes to players and requires a bigger squad, we were slightly thin initially in my opinion, I can't see how he can justify making it smaller unless Hernandez etc pushed like hell to get out which I can't imagine.

LVG typically works with a fairly small squad so that may be why... But even then the side is so unbalanced. One injury to Rooney and despite his poor form we are in trouble.

wilson... I know there are rumours of him being loaned but its not happened yet.
also LVG seems to think fellaini can play up top (im dubious myself but he seems to think its an option)
and of course if martial is wide and rooney has to come off you can always put mata, young or valencia wide and put martial up top.

I don't even know where to begin mate... So Wilson is our fall back if we don't loan him? So our back up wide players are Young and Valencia? And Fellaini is an option up top? You're absolutely right of course... But that's why we can forget a title race and should worry more about getting top 4.

The Sky reporter there said it'll be a quiet day for them. There was some breaking news about them earlier on about Galatasaray sending a French agent in London to sign Alex OC. It'd be hilarious if it happens.

possibly - but with the way city have started I think us, Chelsea and Arsenal are all looking over our shoulder at Liverpool and Spurs rather than thinking we can win it

That's exactly what I mean mate. Depending on what other business we do today (which I don't think will be any) I predict 5th for us this season.

I think we will be ok - our defence is looking solid and we have certainly strengthened our midfield from last season.
Id like another striker but like you I don't think we will get one - though as of 6:01 today the January transfer rumours will start.
Hopefully we get Kane just to see Glastons reaction and him try to spin Berahino / Son into the best partnership in the world but Im fairly relaxed if nothing happens.
Im sure chelsea will go on a roll at some point where there start smashing teams again, likewise Arsenal will click at some point this season and Im also confident that sometime soon we will remember how to score goals

The optimist in me says we've a few lined up.

I really hope we're not loaning out Wilson and running with a front line of Rooney and Martial and inevitably Fellaini.

If we do and we sell Rojo as is being suggested, the end of the window will have nullified what was a very positive one in the summer.

I just don't see how anyone can be happy with our current striking options. The defence looked solid but as Sunday showed against pace and power it'll be found out. The midfield definitely is sorted and is now our strength but the attack is quite pathetic.

It's not a case of remembering to score goals though. It's having the creativity to create the chances.

Rooney is out of form... Still a good option but his best days are behind him. Martial is we young player with bags of potential but who knows how he'll do. Memphis looks to me like a player who will show flashes this season but it'll be next year when we start to see his true form. There's nothing OK about that attack I'm sorry to say. It's desperately lacking in goals and the midfield as good as it is isn't going to help out much with goals.

Im just having a glass half full king of day... if we had giroud, welbeck and the rest of arsenals attackers i think we would be moaning just as much - and I believe we have a better defence than them so it could be worse

Jamie Jackson says:

Despite – or maybe because of – the expected £36m spend on the potential of Anthony Martial, Manchester United remain open to signing a new forward, and possibly bringing in players in other positions before the window closes this evening.

I don't think our attack is as good as Arsenal's. For a start in Sanchez they have a match winner! Our defence is better yes but defence in football only takes you so far.

Hmm... Do I believe Jamie Jackson? Umm nope he's incredibly unreliable.

Who is this Hakan Çalhanoğlu? Any Leverkusen/Bundesliga fans here to give us info?

Wouldn't we have to be moving on transfers by now if we want them in? The window shuts at 6pm not the normal midnight, and usually around 6/7hours before we know what's going on/who we are in for. Not a chance we can get a big name in this late. I was expecting to see some movement early this morning, feels as if the De Gea situation may have distracted is also.

Yeah I'd agree with this. Usually by now with so little time left there rumours all over the place but so far nothing. Maybe we are using the focus on the DDG situation to work out a deal or two? The media seem focused on finding out what happened there.

I just want us to have one reliable attacking player. Is that too much to ask?

Well... I tend to find this guy pretty reliable.

@footballmcd Quick break - Other than Wilson out on loan it's looking like #mufc won't be adding any other players. Had heard Berahino but hey ho.. #mufc

Laughable that the club would leave themselves so exposed to front and lacking goals. I guess the LVG philosophy won't be going on past this season after all.

He has very good first touch and excellent passing ability, besides his FK's.

I'm not sure he's an upgrade to Mata, plays as a #10 behind the forward/s.

Wouldn't be the worse idea of we are using the DDG situation to sneak another one in. But something would have to appear in the next hour or so I think. Least it rules out Bale as Madrid won't be dealing with us!

I'm surprised so many players have gone without many players coming in. Surely we will sign something more to boost our attack?

Doesn't look like it mate. Usually by now there are confirmations of bids etc. With 7 hours to go it takes that long to conduct a medical etc... So I just don't see us getting another attacker. And given the players we have let go that's a disgrace.

How on earth has Victor Moses signed a 4 year deal at Chelsea and then gone on loan to West Ham? what the feck?! What do Chelsea see in him?

He's constantly on loan and has always looked clear that he has no future at Chelsea, in my eyes.

He's an average player ffs!

So, there ARE going to be 'happenings' at OT and Aon training complex

Don't think the site has information from the senior members of staff though? They post the same rumours etc as we do? Don't think there's anything in this.

Can we sign an established striker id even take Charlie Austin at this point

I'm getting to that point... A guy who has scored league goals (for a terrible team) and who would probably accept he wouldn't be first choice.
