Television Top Gear

Didn't enjoy Sundays show at all, far too scripted and predictable. Next weeks looks better.

India was lame, what even was the Africa one? The Nile thing?

The first American one was my favourite, because I think that was their first proper special.

Vietnam, Bolivia and USA are the holy grail of TG specials, IMO.

Man Love Rules OK

Edit: Forgot about the Polar one which is also up there. I think I just prefer the other three because there's far more interaction between the guys in them.

I liked the Botswana special too, where they drove across that massive salt desert thing, amongst other things. Hammond falling in love with Oliver the Opel Kadett was wonderful.

Didn't realise that this series was finished the Burma special - disappointed when I went onto iPlayer earlier.

On the subject of the specials, was Bolivia the off-roading one where they started out with the cars on the wooden raft and had to try and build a ramp to get them on to the bank? That was great!

Yep, that's the one. I've watched that one so many times

That slope thing has turned into a £1m suing

It actually had a slope/gradient. Poor Jez

I think they will have a tough time proving that he was using the term in a racist manner.

Given that the bridge they were discussing had a, you know, slope.

Especially since Hammond said something along the lines of "you're right its higher on that side"

But knowing Clarkson (who i actually think is a great presenter) he probably did mean it in that manner as he is pretty well read with Hammond going for the meaning we all thought. But equally it could be because there was infact a sloped. As you said impossible to prove

Had they had one of their usual sniggers afterwards, then maybe you could prove it was intended.

But no hope of doing that for the court case in my opinion.

Personally i think its a lady thats been described as an "actress" (altho i've never heard of her) who is looking for some publicity in this PC era we find ourselves in. IE someone being offended for the sake of it rather than actually being offended.

I've not seen the clip so can't comment on that one, but in terms of 'anything for a story' I saw something a few weeks ago calling him racist for naming his all black dog 'Didier Dogba'.

I watched the program at the time, and you knew he said it, you did not need an expert to tell you that.
It is just Clarkson being Clarkson, no way is he racist.

Based on the article, the nursery rhyme is just that, something that kids learnt at school. For most of my life, for the record, I thought it was 'nicker' and was never brave enough to ask anyone what a 'nicker' was.

The Slope thing, though, is more obviously racist. Although it is not something that the majority of British people would understand, I certainly haven't heard it before, I would say he knew exactly in what context he was using it.

I didn't realise that word was in it.

Bet he wishes he'd gone for 'Ip-dip dog-shit' now

Yeah he's going to say the n-word for a piece broadcast on BBC 2 isn't he....its ludicrous.

It's an outtake too, so how exactly did that get out? I don't mind Clarkson, I can see why people wouldn't like him but the way certain sections of the media have been at him recently it smells like a witch hunt. Probably Piers now he has feck all better to do.

Complete non-story. Modern Britain though, everyone trying to label you a racist.

May calls it!
