Top 4 Race 19/20 | duffer: "We [Chelsea] are getting 3rd. Despite what the lunatics in here think, Man United are not all that."

Losing out on the CL because of the FA Cup would be monumentally stupid.

Play the best possible team (taking injuries and fatigue into account) against Palace and West Ham. Play whoever else is available against Chelsea.
I’m not suggesting prioritising the FA cup. I agree the league is most important.

2 big results that will help us further tonight. Wolves dropping points giving Sheff United further incentive. Don’t see Klopp/Pool losing back to back.

If you believe in that sort of crap.
Also Arsenal are only 2 points behind Tottenham so I’m hoping they turn it on when they play Leicester. Bragging rights and all that in north London.

Spurs will be going all out to win the last two games - don't worry about that.

3 in the league, 2 in cups. Did Atletico beat them in both legs? Napoli beat them in group stage i think? And did City beat them in Community Shield?
Decided to check it up

3 in league (Watford , City , Arsenal )
3 CL ( Napoli , Madrid x 2 )
2 domestic cups (Chelsea , Villa )
Community Shield ( city- pens )

Really? For me I can see Liverpool dropping further points now that they can't hit 100 - they've certainly not been up to their level prior to the break and it seems a fair bit of complacency has leaked into the squad.

True! In fact when you think about it a draw against Sheffield is almost the same as a loss, because if they draw twice and we win twice we are out of reach. However if they draw or lose and win v spurs they can still qualify (if we win the 2).

Not sure that made sense but it made sense to me.

If they lost either one of Sheffield and Spurs, and we go on to win comfortably in our two games, it might be as good as gone for them anyway. We would just have to ensure we spank our next 2 opponents for the goal difference tide to turn.

All ifs and buts, and wel get a better picture tomorrow night!

Do Liverpool play Chelsea on the day they lift the cup? If so I can't imagine Klopp would be happy to see a half arsed performance. He'd want to fire them up to lift the trophy in style I reckon.

I'm very nervous about the Palace game tomorrow. The fatigue we showed last game and the loss of momentum/confidence from the dropped points means any away game is a potential nightmare. Add in the Shaw/Williams injury situation.

Having said that Palace are on a horrible run and look to be already on their holidays, which makes me feel a little better. I just pray we can get the first goal and get a 2 goal cushion this time, we can't be hanging on for dear life again at the end.

Except Southampton could advance in the table and receive more prize money. Liverpool can't.

Obviously it's marginal but especially given that it's the first PL title for Liverpool it's entirely unsurprising to me that Southampton would be more motivated in a match at this point.

I'm talking about Wolves. You're saying they've nothing to fight for after tonight, I'm saying if thats the case that can be a good thing if you've no pressure. Having said that I think they'll be fully motivated by the chance of getting in to the Europa

Yep, they do, after full time.

With no real pressure but a point to prove I can't see how Klopp won't want to put on a show.

I'd be astonished if Liverpool are not fully up for that game.

Sure, this is granted. My point is they've lost the motivation of finishing as centurions, which isn't meaningless.

Also, perhaps Klopp would be up for it but it's unclear if that message is translating down into the squad - I don't think it's absurd to suggest that they've been complacent since the restart. Not being able to challenge for the points record just further contributes to the malaise.

That's the thing. Im both nervous and excited for tomorrow night. 2 big games. If Leicester lose and we win big (both big ifs) - this could very well be done and dusted.

If both of us win, it will go down to the last game between United and Leicester for all 3 places. Chelsea are suddenly sitting very pretty - which we should not have allowed! The Southampton result really made this a battle very much between us and Leicester, instead of Chelsea and Leicester.

Even if Liverpool aren't at their peak motivation, they're a much better team with home advantage - it's likely Chelsea will drop points (even it's just a draw). Obviously can't rule out Chelsea winning but that's not my biggest concern.

My major worry is us dropping silly points in our games, and it's still likely we will go into the last game against Leicester needing a result whether it's a draw or win remains to be seen, but anything can happen in a one off game away from home.

If i would be a Liverpool player/coach then the main motivation should be to keep the home record alive.

They have plenty of reasons to want to beat us. Obviously they'll not be as fired up as if the needed 3 points to win the league but this Liverpool side against this Chelsea side is a game I've already written of as a loss.

If we get anything out of the game I'll be delighted!

The idea that they'd roll over to hurt Man United is tin foil hat stuff. I'd love them to do it through!

You’re all forgetting how crap Chelsea are. They could drop points to anyone at the moment never mind away to the Champions.

Hope Sheffield somehow sneaks into the top 4, with us in 3rd. If not, Wolves, and if not them too, Chelsea, even though they’re a traditional rival.

Leicester fans are unbearable now.

Liverpool will not intentionally lose the game versus Chelsea to feck us over.

They'll lose because Chelsea will give a absolutely 110% that day. It's a big game, Champions league is at stake, while Liverpool has a perfect home record at stake. While Liverpool cares about their home record, I dont think it will be enough.

Chelsea are a bit inconsistent but they beat City recently, remember? They're more than capable of bagging 3 points against Liverpool. It's not played on paper.

They won’t want to end the season with 3 losses on the trot.

Anyhow I don’t see Leicester picking up more than 4 pts from their last 3 so youse will be safe.

Also Chelsea have one more big game on 19th and just 2 day gap before they play Liverpool. Less recovery time and also less preparation time. Liverpool have 5 days to prepare for this and they don't have any other games. They will be lot fresher too, unless Chelsea play their second team vs Us in the cup.

Liverpool would not want to lose their unbeaten home record in the league so I don't think they would lack intensity against Chelsea ,it is quite possible Chelsea win it anyway but I don't expect Liverpool not to be professional and not put in 100% effort against Chelsea.

Liverpool are already on the beach. They don’t need anymore preparation time, it’s pretty irrelevant as they are in total wind down mode.

Liverpool don't care what we're doing. They care about their own pride. I guarantee you they won't want to be lifting the trophy after having lost. They will go all out to beat Chelsea.
The game will gain a massive audience: all global scousers and quite a few neutrals or opposing fans will unite via TV - Klopp will be desperate to put on a display and make a statement.

I suspect it will be like West Ham’s last game at Upton Park, when they played out of their skins to beat us an a worthy parting memory to their venerable stadium.

I Think Liverpool will win by a clear margin.

Big day. I'm nervous, but looking at it level headed, we should be beating this Palace side at the moment, they're looking poor and take away monday we've looked far too good for most sides in the country.

The Leicester/Sheffield Utd game is huge, this place will be unbearably nervous either way whatever happens in that one.

I wish we were playing his one first though. Don't fancy our team having to respond to a possible Leicester win.

Regardless of Leicester's result, I'd prefer to play first this time. In fact, I'd fancy us even less tonight if Leicester dropped points - we have a habit of fecking up when our rivals stumble.

Need to win today and it will settle our nerves if Leicester have already dropped points when we start.
In the best case scenario, Leicester drop points both today and on Sunday against Spurs, and by the time we start our FA cup game on Sunday, we may even be able to afford focusing on winning the FA cup.

I can't get how it is just between us and Leicester. If we win tonight we will be 2 points from Chelsea with a better goal difference. They cannot afford to slip. The third place is on.

It was infuriating to draw as we did but it was not realistic to win every match, we are still a young team in transition.

We were too far behind before restart to expect something better honnestly. We have done well so far. And Southampton was our hardest fixture left in my opinion if you look at form.

It is still in our hands. That is what matters now. If the Leicester match is a season definer it will be nervy !

We are so close from each others that anything can happen with 3 games left, it's crazy !

I do not know why everyone is so nervous around here. Palace are literally the best team, after Norwich, Utd could've asked to play. They went to the beach about three weeks ago and haven't returned.

As for the Dippers, they will not throw in the towel against Chelsea. They lift the title that day, no way are they going to want to do that after being beaten. At the very best Chelsea will get a point but that shouldn't really bother Utd due to the goal difference. Only a win for Chelsea causes Utd issues.

As for Leicester, their heads have gone and they have to finish with three teams in the top 6. If they get even 4 points I would be amazed.

People around here need to get a bit of a grip. Utd have easily been the most inform team and the Soton game was just a blip. Further, both Chelsea and Leicester actually have more difficult games than Utd. Utd will finish 3rd and in two weeks everyone on here will be wondering why they were so worried.

Let's put it this way.

Most of the Chelsea fans I know, either personally or online, are confident of finishing in the top 4 because of Leicester, not United.

United finishing 3rd is pretty much the accepted outcome in Chelsea circles.

It's anyone's game. No one can really be that confident one way or the other. After tonight there will be likely be more clarity on the situation.

Well, that's just nonsense, for a start we still gained a point on them both with the Southampton game. Secondly, Chelsea is very capable of losing to Liverpool, Wolves, or both in which case Utd should overtake them if we win our games. I stand by what I've always said, Utd needs to do the job and win the next 3 games as then we will finish 3rd.

Its because United play Leicester on the last day, and leicester have tough fixtures so odds are that Chelsea will probably win 1 of their last 2 and United and Leicester won't get the perfect scenario to knock out Chelsea. More so because Leicester is in free fall.

Wondering why we were so terrible towards the end of last season and lost 4th place when we could have easily made it to TOP-4 based on the form until Paris match
