So are you saying that only Moyes was interested, and when he left we lost interest, and the part "till today" shows we are interested again?

Ah ok. No, sorry. I just wanted to say that Bayern didnt get any United offer till this or last week. Kicker stats that.

I didn't think Kicker were very reliable?

And I'm not sure I understand. Moyes was interested in him, when he left we lost interest but now we're interested again?

Will someone explain please

The most reliable football paper in Germany actually.

My bad then! I just saw it on another thread someone saying they weren't reliable, never really heard of them myself.

I suggest it's probably a mistranslation. It's the same word in German for 'up to now', 'so far' and 'by now' so it's not always easy for Germans to translate it into English :)

They used to be better, but are still more reliable than everything else.

Sorry again if I made a translation error; in todays Kicker was said that Moyes wanted Kroos. No one else at United. Any interest has gone with him.
And Kicker are VERY reliable. They are famous for that.

Strange if our interest in Kroos has died as we are clearly crying out for a creative force from deeper in midfield. Which other players might be available who could play that role? Fabregas maybe? Can't think of many other candidates.

They are, but in recent years they've fielded a lot of rumours about United and been wrong on almost every count. So whilst they're still more reliable than your average UK paper (and certainly more than the Sun, Daily Fail etc), their legendary reliability is not all it's cracked up to be any more.

´

I think with Carvalho is the same thing. It was a Moyes fueled interest. Next home game will give some answers.

I can't imagine us losing interest in two players we've been hugely linked with all season just because Moyes has gone. It's not like we have the luxury to do so, either.

Yeah but who is the decision maker on football strategy, the DoF if you will? Not dead Ed that's for sure.

Some Bayern fans on a basketball forum I post on have been saying that he lost a lot of his industriousness over this season and looked lazy when played in midfield while looking much better playing as the #10. Most of them wouldn't mind seeing him leave either.

Like I said before I would find it hard to believe that Kroos was a David Moyes target while he was at Everton because Kroos would be out of their budget/bracket. Id imagine Kroos was scouted while Fergie was manager. As for Carvalho we have a strong scouting presence in Portugal and our scouts would have seen him in his Sporting youth days.
People don't realize how extensive Fergies scouting was, for instance he made it known after we signed Ruud Van Nisterooy that we had been watching him as far back as 1995 in his Den Bosch youth days.

I'd imagine a player like Kroos who is known world wide wasn't exactly that hard for Moyes to scout. He was a target for us under Moyes, but the fact it seems to have went a bit quiet on that front makes it seem like it was Moyes who wanted him specifically.

Or maybe it was team Moyes that was always talking to the press, to boost his flailing profile by showing all these great players that will be joining.

That would also explain why the transfer front has gone quiet in the press since he left!

Would anyone take Fabregas over him ? .... I kinda would to be honest, PL proven and a player we know would really boost our squad

Just because his name is not in the news any more (Muller is taking the limelight), it does not mean we re interested. Everyone knows we are interested in him and there is nothing to report in that matter for now.

Wait until the season finishes. That is when the club can make a formal move.

Absolutely! I am not Kroos' biggest fan, especially not if we overspend and offer a fee which makes us a laughing stock in Germany when he only has 1 year left and even more so if we offer him 260 k (he is 24 ffs and not the best player in the world).

That's like saying would you take Scarlett Johanssen over Mila Kunis.

Cesc is better than Kroos but

That's like saying would you take Scarlett Johanssen over Mila Kunis.

This. Being worse than Cesc isn't a crime. Most centre midfielders aren't as good as Fabregas.

Particularly when your last shag was with the frizzy-haired bint down the Dog and Duck.

I'd take the Scarlett Johanssen option anyway. Kroos is better suited to a deeper role and 3 years younger. Pete hit the nail on the head though.

To me Toni Kroos is gods gift to football. I really hope this dream of signing him will come true. Perhaps a fee of £35m will be enough to convince Bayern they don't need him anymore.

Only reason I think the Muller rumours have accelerated and the Kroos rumours have gone quiet is because of LvG and his past history with both players. Muller is definitely a more likely target with LvG coming in.

Yeah but who is the decision maker on football strategy, the DoF if you will? Not dead Ed that's for sure.

This is no longer clear. There seems to be a power vacuum. I have no idea who the Glazers are taking their football advice from, or who will be identifying and then progressing the transfer targets while LvG is preoccupied with the Netherlands.

I do not think that van Gaal is a Kroos' fan - and vice versa. He played him - but not where Kroos wanted. And I just do not think that Kroos prefers a coach like van Gaal who does not "caress souls" or atleast not his.

The Müller topic is different. Van Gaal's favourite player in his favourite position.

Does Jim Lawlor still head up the scouting operation?

As far as I'm aware yes. I know Moyes also brought in a number of scouts, though, so who left/stayed is a bit unclear as for the rest of the scouts. It's unclear just how much reshuffling Moyes did in that department.

I do not buy the Mueller rumours at all though. Sure he might be a Van Ga fan/favourite and they may have a grand relationship, but that guy wears his heart on his sleeve when it comes to Bayern Munich and he genuinely looks a player who loves that club with a passion. Find it extremely unlikely and I'm very skeptical of any claim he would be interested in a move to United.

Does Jim Lawlor still head up the scouting operation?

Yes he does, although he was joined by Robbie Cooke, Moyes' chief scout at Everton, in what was said to be a move away from the more "intuitive" approach favoured by Ferguson and Lawlor, and towards a new, more methodical scouting system (yes - the whiteboards/ipads).

I don’t know what the situation is now though, and whether or not Moyes might have graffitied all the whiteboards and changed the passwords to the ipads, on his way out of the door.
