if a player is seen to be pushing for a transfer, surely that affects his loyalty bonus. That must be why his agent came out and said he is staying. This may or may not happen. What is certain is we are in for him. But if he is willing to wait and accept whatever wage Bayern give him...then he will remain with them.

But we may not be willing to wait until the WC is over to sign a playmaker.

Kroos 100% will not be coming. Gundogan too 100% will not be coming. So I wonder who that leaves as the central midfielder out there available that we need? We should be looking for the new Coutinho out there at the right price
Coutinho? We absolutely don't need another number 10 of a lower standard than the two we already have.

We can try for Rakitic as an alternative. He has been great for Sevilla this season, and he can certainly be the creative CM that we want. Carvalho as the defensive CM. Then next summer, we can try again for Kroos if he is still available.

Is Kroos as good as he's hyped up to be. I haven't seen much of him to be honest but it seems like we are doing everything to get him.

Our options for viable midfielders to bring in this summer seem to be fast running out. Well, better finding out now than well into August like last year.

With Madrid's 'shiny new stuff' policy, there's always a chance they will bring in more midfields in the summer (Pogba for example). I'm assuming Modric is a key figure for them right now, but if new players were to come in and certainty on Ancelotti's future, then I wouldn't be surprised if he became available.

Toni Kroos will not sign for Manchester United this summer and will stay with Bayern Munich "until at least 2015", according to his agent.

The Germany midfielder is contracted to Bayern until June 2015, but talks over a new deal have reportedly stalled over his pay demands.

"There's no official contract offer and there's no need for United to submit one," the 24-year-old's agent Volker Struth told German newspaper Bild.

"Toni's at Bayern until at least 2015."

Kroos, one of a number of key transfer targets for United manager David Moyes, would be able to move to Old Trafford as a free agent when his contract expires next summer, but the German champions are eager for him to stay in Munich.

"It depends on Toni, but we want to continue with him here," said Bayern coach Pep Guardiola.

Bayern strengthened their squad by signing defensive midfielder Sebastian Rode from Eintracht Frankfurt on a four-year deal.

While Kroos can play in that position, Guardiola has regularly used him as an attacking midfielder this season.

I wouldn't buy Kroos being off the table quite so quickly.
Bayern are about to play Semi-finals in the German Cup competition and likely then a final, plus the CL semi and they would hope a final too. Competition for places in those games will drive all kinds of statements to be made.

Whether he stays at Bayern or goes, is likely to have more to do with how important Guardiola thinks he is for next year.

Who should we be in for? I think we should be looking for at laast one or two EPL players who are quality, but at clubs who might be willing to sell.
Spurs have too many options in midfield and might be willing to give up Paulinho or Dembele - the players themselves could force a move if they knew we were in for them anyway. Spurs will win eff all this year and have yet another new manager. Those guys would be certain to fancy coming to United to escape the lottery of "who stays- who goes" under a new boss.

Southampton and Everton are more teams who we know cannot resist doing business. The usual names.

Not surprised .Beckenbauer as been saying this for awhile now ,for those who would listen. And a year is a long time in football so wouldn't hold my breath for a bid in 2015.

There are plenty of options. Even if the world class players like Kroos,Gundogan arent available.

We may have to look for the next generations of up and coming midfielders. I know we are all hoping for world class CMs to be signed. But I could live with us signing young players who we can make into top players like we usually do. We just need to avoid players who don't suit our style and if this means overpaying then so be it.

Yeah there's truth to that. Ideally, we'd solve the problem once and for all with a Kroos or a Gundogan. But that's unlikely to pan out.

With the quality of players that the new signings would have ahead of them - Rooney, Mata, Kagawa, RVP etc - they mainly just need to be energetic, defensively solid and good at keeping possession, not necessarily the types who can single-handedly win matches. That gives the aforementioned the platform to flex their considerable creative muscle. A lot of the improvement will need to come from a serious step up in the tactics and the coaching, which have contributed to our midfield problems almost as much this season as the dodgy personnel.

Sadly I think Rakitic is Madrid bound. No point bidding for him if they are. More likely to want to sign for them and do the typical thing of rotting on a bench until they sell him for cheap a few years later than sign for us.

I can see another summer of us chasing unrealistic targets and then lanic buying at the end of the summer whilst realistic players that would improve us go to other clubs for dirt cheap in comparison to whatever we pay in the end.

That is an extremely negative prediction admittedly but knowing what we're like with transfers...

I tend to find fans of other clubs are far more confident of it than United fans.

Makes sense for him to stay there another season and pile up some more honors while we slog on Thursday nights and then assess his options the season after. If it's money he is after then he'll get nickels bucketloads of it if he leaves on a free to whichever team most takes his fancy.

Dissapointing I was hoping he wheeled away casually into the aeroplane celebration and jog to the bench swiftly punching pep in the face in one movement, turning away from the commotion smiling breathing a sigh of relief knowing there's no way they will keep him now.

Wait, I've missed this... How come you reckon that Rakitic is going to Madrid? I thought that they had enough CMs

It is looking unlikely that Kroos will leave this summer, so for me Rakitic and Carvalho would be the best in MF we could buy this season, realistically.

Well, if some ppl thought United fans are over analyzing everything Moyes says, they should have a look at some comments from Bayern fans. Obviously it's just a general forum (link with those comments in German posted above), but still funny. I didn't watch Kroos' interview today after the Bayern - Kaiserslautern game and I was watching the Classico anyway, but according to those posters Kroos said when asked about United:
"You will all be informed on time, don't worry". Some fans take from that that he is leaving and will inform everyone soon enough that he is joining us, others say what he means is that he will inform everyone soon that he is staying at Bayern.

Now the more interesting part, some serious body language / gestures experts around:
Some say he seemed annoyed when asked about United which means he is staying. Others say he didn't look the interviewer in the eyes when the word MANCHESTER was pronounced so he is leaving.

Then Kroos said "The team will now do everything in Berlin (DFB Pokal final) and give everything to be in Lissabon." Some Bayern fans now are kind of disgusted as by saying "the team" and not "We" he is seperating himself from the team and therefore definitely leaving ...

Had a great game today. Don't think he'll renew at Bayern Munich. Will probably leave for better wages elsewhere.

To me it all spells he's staying the biggest clue being "don't worry". And of course his agent saying as much, then there's our reaped up interest in other midfield targets. Moyes was at the copa final.

Our fans are shit. It's not just this year where admittedly there's reason but why do so many of our fans view this club as some mangey backwater that no player i there world would ever sign for? Having viewed this site as non-member and then member for a while at least 70% of people on this forum have absolutely no regard for the club's appeal at all. Any suggestion anyone would want to ever join ever?:lol::lol:

It's as if they follow it out of sympathy or something.

Some serious analysis there. It's 50/50 really. At the end of the day, if he wants to move, all he has to do is push for it and I don't think he would have to push much.

When interviewed, did he even deny he was leaving or even suggest he would stay or are we just going on body language?

I didn't watch the interview, just saw the quotes. He didn't deny or suggest anything, just said "Ihr werdet schon alle rechtzeitig informiert. Keine Sorge." Which basically means "You will all find out/will be informed early enough. No worries/no hurry." Based on this quote some fans have written pages of anylysis!

Haven't seen him play regularly and the Bayern matches I have seen have usually been very one-sided. Can anyone tell how Kroos performs when his team are having a tough time? Does he step up and take control or does he go into a hiding? In our home leg, I don't remember him being especially good. Certainly nowhere like the performance against Arsenal where he absolutely bossed them single-handedly. In our away leg against Bayern, he was noticeably a lot more silent than usual; he played very deep though. But he was good but not that influential as a deep lying playmaker.
