His contract is up in 2015, one year left and Bayern seem to prefer to let him leave on a free than sell him this summer.

I can certainly wait 1 year, and we'd save a fortune.
This is all conjecture, if a bid comes in for Kroos they will sell, were talking about a potential profit over loosing one of their best players. If its to be believed we will offer 30-40m for him at that price im sorry but they wont ignore the money and simply wait a year to lose him on a free. Its practically destructive to the club to do a deal like that. If you look at Dortmund, Lewandowski is still performing they are lucky but Gotze tailed off as soon as he knew he was leaving and Kroos is a player that potentially would do the same.

Then take into account the prestige and respect surrounding Bayern, i cant see them playing someone in important games when they know his heart isnt in it.

The latest I read was that Bayern will only sell if Januzaj is involved somehow. Personally that kills the deal for me, Januzaj will become one of the worlds best in years to come. Think about the level he operates at now and the level he will be at in 4 years when hes only 21! madness and on your bike Bayern.

We could force this move through if we just threw silly money at them, the reported 41m would do it easily.

They don't need the money really, some years ago they forced Ballack to see out his contract rather than sell him, Ballack then joined Chelsea on a free, and that was when Bayern weren't even as successful as today and didn't have as much money as today. If they want to keep Kroos they will, unless we make a very ridiculous offer maybe, but then we would be really silly to blow half of our transfer budget on Kroos. We are probably not making the CL next season and with Moyes I doubt we will make it the following season either, but at the same time we are apparently planning to spend big. I really really fear this whole weird "throwing money at everyone and keeping Moyes" will get us into big financial trouble. We are rich, but we are not a magic machine where even if you don't bring in money it will magically be there!

If the player wants the move and isn't going to stay regardless they'll be mad to turn down big money.

If there is any truth in what the press are saying and we have offered him mega wages (more than he is ever going to get at Bayern) then it's highly unlikely he's going to sign a new deal. He'll either get his move this summer or move on a free next summer and have his pick of clubs.

As regards where the club goes long term this is nothing to do with keeping Moyes. Any manager coming to this club will want to be backed financially and to be able to compete for the top players with the best clubs.

Those running the club now seem to realise this. Without success the commercial deals in the Far East and elsewhere will soon dry up and the whole business model falls apart.

Well yeah I can see your point but I really dont think were as financially tight as people may think. It was only last year we were the second richest club in world football.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/mikeoza...nchester-united-from-top-spot-at-3-3-billion/

Then theres the fact we offered 150m for Gareth Bale.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-united-made-100m-gareth-2297792

Really we can buy any player in the world and offer any money we want without much impact to our finances overall. We are years ahead in terms of contracts and commercial partners and revenues.

if we really got in trouble wed just sell the naming rights for Old Trafford and wipe our debts in one deal.

41m for Kroos would be a drop in the ocean for us, as was 37m for Mata and 27m for Fellaini.

Carvalho/Carrick/Fletcher
Reus -- Kroos -- Mata -- Kagawa
Rooney/RVP
THAT is a treble winning team. Mata and Kagawa interchanging at will.

That's not very nice to our future superstar now is it?

I'd personally prefer us to concentrate on CM, get in Kroos, forget about Reus and let Adnan develop.

I agree that we are in a healthy situation at the moment, but that is because success/at least top 4 was granted with SAF, with Moyes it really isn't. And for me predicting success has something to do with the manager as with a visibly improving or already proven manager the top 4 chances would be much higher and with Moyes neither is there (neither the visible improvement nor the proven success). We can afford 1 season without CL, but 2? Our wage bill is already the 2nd highest in the league and will increase if we throw whatever it takes to get new players. And I really don't believe we offered 150 mil for Bale or anywhere close to it. We probably were interested and were prepared to bid high but that was at a time where noone thought we wouldn't qualify for the CL. The estimated revenues were therefore different. We can spend whatever the board thinks is affordable but I just don't want our ridiculous spending to compromise with our debt payment plan or wahtever it is called.

But then they didn't have Pep who could be interested in cashing in on Kroos and use the funds towards getting any of the Spanish lads he would be interested in, not that he would admit it publicly . It's not that certain that they will keep him and pass up on a £40m fee, they are rich but not irresponsible .

It's not Pep's decision. And if Pep wants another Spanish lad, we can afford him without selling Kroos, that's really not a problem. We just signed a worldclass striker for free and are well stocked in all positions. You could argue that a brilliant centerback would make sense, but there isn't one available and hopefully Badstuber finally returns for next season to give us more depth there. We might sell Kroos, but it's not because we need the money. If we do it, it's because we don't plan with him as a starter for next season anyway.

Is there anything in the Koke rumours? There were never strong rumours but during the January transfer window when we (United) were being linked with hundred players (among others Koke) there were a couple of German reports linking him with Bayern and claiming that Bayern are prepared to offer money and Shaqiri. Living in Germany I really can't stand Bayern (sorry) - I only support you when you play City/Chelsea - I would absolutely hate it if one of my favourite players outside United (Koke) joined you

I've no idea if there's anything in the rumours. We've been linked with countless Spanish players since Pep took over. I still believe that Sammer wants to keep a strong German core, that's why I expect us to agree with Kroos on a new contract after the season. But I said something similar before we signed Thiago, so who knows.

If Kroos really joins another club, it's Gündogan who will probably be his replacement.

OK thanks. Yep, you guys will always keep a strong German core, even without Kroos you will have enough German players.

I think it will be decided mainly on how those in the hierarchy think regards to whether he will renew or not . If not then I don't think they will turn down that much even if you are swimming in money . What's the point of keeping a replaceable player for one more year when you can get a ridiculous fee for him ? If he set on leaving then it's most likely the higher ups will make the right noises and happily take the cash after making Kroos appear like a money grabbing whore through spin .
If the decision to sell was made then United will be Bayern's favourable suitors because handing him to someone like Madrid could be doing a Wenger with RVP .

You might have already elaborated on this in the thread, but which Spanish players could you imagine being targets for Pep?

I guess in terms of a playmaking CM, Koke is pretty close. I could certainly see that happening if Kroos were to leave.

He's not that easy to replace, that's the point. If we find a replacement and don't plan with him as a starter, then of course we'll sell him. If not, we'll keep him and let him leave on a free.

Sounds like a ploy by the agent to force United's hand in making sure they offer a big money deal so he gets a decent slice of the transfer fee.

I've no idea what goes on in Pep's head, so really no idea who out of all the great Spanish talents makes sense. Wouldn't rule it out that we're looking for a rightback to keep Lahm in midfield, but I'm not sure if anyone is available in that position, who makes sense.

This certainly doesn't smell like a transfer that is going to happen. Kroos will use our interest to secure the salary he wants.

I think that is as accurate an assessment as possible . There is a certain level of players who make any amount of cash in the bank meaningless as compared to their value on the pitch . At United he will be that whilst at your lot I'm not so sure because you have plenty of options and Guardiola is bound to have an idea or two on how to replace and improve on him, with his tactical vision in mind .

If the barca ban holds I cant see too many Spanish players pep might go for
koke as mentioned Torres (though if we would get the games he will need to develop is questionable but very much the kind of midfielder he seems to like) Ingo Martinez if they are after a centreback.
non of them would seem essential though

That is the most plausible outcome in all this but he and his agent having gotten a rough idea of what he could get elsewhere the chances of a compromise could significantly diminish . His employers have flatly refused to consider his demands of £150k and he finds himself with us, Chelsea and possibly Real willing to better what Bayern are refusing to accede to by a long way . That is bound to make him think twice and really consider his options . But possession is 99% of the law meaning it's much easier to persuade him to stay than it is to convince him to abandon his highly successful boyhood club .

We've taken a plane from Manchester to Munich to get to the match, where Woodward would be perfectly capable of getting on board with. But knowing the man and his plane antics he has probably gone the opposite way through America, not the best sense of direction.

So Bayern have promised us on numerous occasions that he will not be leaving Munich this summer. Can we just forget about him and move on to other targets? he's not coming.....chasing him all summer would be as pointless as last summer when we made fabregas our only target only to make a panic buy with 1 minute to go before the transfer window shut......There's more chance of getting Gundogan or Koke probably and if not them then some unheard of up and coming bloke

Just to add to this, its on Twitter now just from my usual loose tweet rumours so please dont think im taking it as gospel but the going rumor is Ed is indeed on his way to meet Kroos and Reus agent with the hope to secure terms for BOTH players, 33m for Reus who has an offer from Barca and us, Barcas ban leaving us in pole.

Again I stress this is just twatter bollocks but as usual I love a good hopeful rumor on there.

Nah, it's way too slow. Got to have some real pace on at least one of those flanks.

Is it not possible that having Januzaj on the wing would suffice? He is hardly slow and has enough creativity/technical ability to give a wing back more than enough to think about. To back that up - although Kagawa is not a winger, he provided more than a threat on the right wing tonight. Having that ability, in the knowledge that Rafael will be bombing up the right/ Evra-Shaw-Coentrao on the left would be more than enough for me. Taking into account that Antonio Valencia is still there as an option (he was quite good tonight).

Obviously it is extremely advantageous to have a Robben/Ribery combination on the wings but who else has that? If we WERE to get Kross, he has clearly shown that he has severe pin-point ability when pinging the ball out wide. Is having all of the above, with the addition of Kross conducting the whole thing not enough?

Was liking the look of it until i seen the subs bench.

Im not sure that trio behind rooney can work long term i think Kagawa is a cracking player but a winger he is not.

I agree totally pal, that's why I said the line-up was simply to satisfy the formation picture for Sky Sports. I would have the three of them there continuously interchanging between one another. No one of them having an actual position - more so of a free role with as much defensive contribution as is required.

Yeah thats the only way i see the 3 of them working also, depends who we sign for centre mid though, with the right midfielders it could work.

Carvalho would be ideal. Add the possibility of Kross and having both of those would most definitely allow the three amigos to do their thing.

Played well for Bayern tonight.
His agent said that he will stay at Bayern till 2015.

http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1...ni-kroos-set-bayern-munich-stay-agent?cc=5901

Toni Kroos’ agent has disappointed Manchester United by insisting in Bild he expects the Germany international to stay at Bayern Munich next season -- and perhaps longer.

The midfielder has been scouted by United manager David Moyes and is a target for the 2013 Premier League champions.

Kroos is out of contract at the Allianz Arena in 2015 and is yet to agree a new deal with the Bundesliga winners but Volker Struth, his representative, dashed United’s hopes of capitalising on the stand-off to lure him to Old Trafford this summer.

He said: "We are confronted with a variety of rumours for months but at the moment I believe that Toni plays in Bavaria until 2015 at least."

United meet Bayern on Wednesday in the last eight of the Champions League, having drawn the first leg 1-1, and in his news conference before their clash at Old Trafford, manager Pep Guardiola said that the 24-year-old will be part of his squad again next season.

He stated then: “Toni has one year more of a contract and Toni will remain there. I hope he can extend his contract and stay with us.”

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge also insisted that Kroos will not be on the move this summer.

"Toni Kroos will definitely still be playing for us next season," Rummenigge told the Munchner Merkur newspaper last week. "Furthermore, we want him to carry on wearing our shirt beyond 2015."

It's off lads.
