Interesting, I never knew that. Shows the kind of pull our club has. Admittedly those were players from smaller clubs. Bayern to United is considered by some as a step down, which a bit silly but our current situation kind of warrants that.

It's not silly at all.

One bad season doesnt make us any less of a european power house, every team has an off season which admittedly we are having. But when we look back at this season it will be the exception not the rule from now on. Liverpool for instance are having a good season, a very bloody good season but this is not by any means the standard we would expect them to operate at for years to come. They may which will be great for their fans.

Good god, 2 years ago people questioned Bayern Munich and the Bundesliga and now it's the best thing there has ever been. United, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are the biggest clubs and no transfer between them can be described as a step down.

Regarding Bayern stating last week he is staying- they were never going to say yes he is going especially with the CL games. I may stand corrected but when fully fit the preffered 2 in Bayerns midfield is Schweinsteiger and Thiago no? Moyes sat with his agent at a game? Well he could be the agent of other players but not necesarilly at this level of quality so although this is by no means nailed on its not completely ludicrous. Come here earn ridicolous money and be a gauranteed starter who we shape or midfield around or stay at Bayern in the position he is in now? I expect him to stay but would not be gobsmacked if we did sign him.

Ah, Well played Kill'em all.

Obviously, the article is severely lacking in quotes and actual evidence that Kroos a) has told team mates he wants to go and b) wants to go but it's fantastic muppetry anyway.

Does the fact the journo is John Cross give some reliability to this?

Let me get this right, Kroos tells his teammates he wants to join Man United and they tell John Cross? Yeah, OK Cross.

The same way United players told Cross that Rooney wants to join Bayern. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...chester-united-transfers-wayne-rooney-1874722

Cross hasn't got a clue.

Exactly. If it was remotely true that he had told his club and international teammates, it'd appear in one of the German papers/websites first rather than the Mirror.

He's really trying for that raise from Bayern isn't it. They must be playing real hard ball with him.

feck it, I don't care if it' all nonsense. For once, I will fantasize....

Carvalho Kross

Januzaj Mata Kagawa

Rooney

( Carrick, Fletcher, Cleverley, Valencia, Welbeck, RvP)

Good god!!!

Exactly. It's so ridiculous. And to make it worse he's an Arsenal journalist. I would take it more seriously if it came from David McDonnell.

Could be true, mirror were correct about RVP. Unlikely as it's such a flippant thing to say.

The whole 'ah yes but wouldn't a German paper know this sooner' thing could be a way for Bayern to look as 'blindsided' by the news as their fans.

Ergo it's almost surely true.

Slowest team in the world.

Slowest team in the world.

Slowest team in the world...hardly. Both Januzaj and Kagawa are both more than capably quick. Taking into account the subs I posted - Valencia and Welbeck are there. I also forgot Chico.

We could go totally muppet and somehow formulate a ploy to stick Reus in there. Happy?

You mean that mirror that does not have a press allowance for the Bayern-United match because they until now - as much as I know - have not made an excuse for their Dirty Schwein - headline?

About Kagawa and slowliness...

Then Kagawa must really have made a step up since his Dortmund time. He was not really the one with the highest work rate, with much sprints and intensive runs there. He took profit from the others doing the runs...

I'm choosing to believe this.

Didn't know this till now. A tad precious that.

Are Mirror just winding Bayern up before the game for being banned from the press access?

They're just fishing for hits at a time when Kroos and United are very relevant to each other. I very much doubt Bayern will be in the slightest bit aware of the English press.

The Sun has made an excuse for their headline...

They were the other ones that were banned from the match from FC Bayern. But that is postphoned as they made that excuse both online as in print.

I have not seen anything from the Mirror until now...

Bayern's press release from last week:

Following the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg between Manchester United and FC Bayern München last Tuesday, 1 April 2014, UK media the Daily Mirror and The Sun published disrespectful, discriminatory and personally insulting ‘reports’ about our player Bastian Schweinsteiger. This is unacceptable to FC Bayern München and the club strongly condemns reporting of this nature.

The Champions League is the main vehicle for UEFA’s major European-wide “RESPECT” campaign. This logo appears on the shirts of all players in the competition, and all participants in the competition are required to uphold the principles of “RESPECT”.

Due to a breach of this commitment by four spectators who displayed a disrespectful banner at the Allianz Arena in Munich during the Round of 16 home fixture against Arsenal, FC Bayern was ordered to close a 700-seat section of the stadium and pay a €10,000 fine. We accepted this sanction.

FC Bayern München will not issue media accreditation to any representatives of the Daily Mirror and The Sun for the return fixture between FC Bayern München and Manchester United at the Allianz Arena on 9 April 2014.

Good god!!!

Was liking the look of it until i seen the subs bench.

Im not sure that trio behind rooney can work long term i think Kagawa is a cracking player but a winger he is not.

Bayern would IMO would be nuts not to take 40m if that number is true. While Kroos is a fantastic player, he is certainly not indispensable and they'd be able to make a real statement that they won't bow to player demands. Bayern really have the corner in getting the creme de la creme of German talent whenever they really feel like it (well for the most part) - so they very likely can have a replacement either from an up and coming German player or even abroad.

Um yeah that's at least how I hope they think when it comes to Kroos.

Regarding a line up of Januzaj, Kagawa and Mata with Rooney up top and speed, maybe we don't have blazing speed on the touchline but, on the break we'd have plenty enough. We saw Kagawa a couple weeks back be quite quick on the break and Januzaj doesn't seem quick because he moves so smoothly but, more than a few defenders have seen the dirt on his boots as he has left them for dead. With technically able players with a good base, we'd be setup well to break teams down and still use the counter attack to good effect.
