He's definitely a top player. I've said all along though that the fact that he plays the game at a walking pace is a concern to me though. He'd still be the third-choice midfielder I'd take from Bayern after Thiago and Bastian.

Gundogan would suit us better of the two potentially available German midfielders. If he had Kroos' goal-threat, he'd really be amazing.

I've seen him loads. He was great vs arsenal quite obviously but even then people overblow the impact he has on games. Claiming him to be bayern's iniesta when he quite clearly isn't. He's no xavi either cause he simply doesn't have that sort of vision. He's got a great shot but is normally hasty in bringing it out so scores very few times. He's a good player obviously but not someone I'd say would warrant the sort of breaking of the bank that people are advocating.

I have seen him loads too, as I watch the Bundesliga quite often. He is really the closest thing you'll find to a modern day Paul Scholes. He was a brilliant player under Heynckes last year and they weren't as strong without him, when he got injured. As a 10 he was extremely dangerous with his shoot and timing of the runs. His passing is top notch, and maybe he lacks the speed and dribbling of a Thiago/Schweinsteiger but he is extremely effective at what he does. As an 8 it's extremely hard for him to shine in the Guardiola system. It's extremely possesion, based with not that much speed from switching to defense to offense. But if the game becomes faster, his best assets, his vision and passing will be at full exposal like against Arsenal.

For me he is probably the best creative CM in the world right now, probably behind a fit Gündogan. I think in a different system, like we had from 06-08 or Dortmund 2011-2013 he'd be even better.

We should just go in hard for him, £50m to Bayern and a £250 000 wage offer to him, literally break the bank for him . A midfield of Carrick/Cavalho, Kroos and Mata, whilst on the slow side could easily stand toe to toe against the best in the business . Get some serious pace on the flanks and Rooney as the lone striker and we could do some serious damage in the league .

Just wow :nervous:

Would you take twice more than is already more than enough to play under an inferior manager, in an inferior team, leaving your home country while you're at it where you've got the best chance to win every major trophy there is?

But I'd absolutely love it if he did. Not sure I'd take Gundogan over him tbh. I'd take both if possible.

I guess his view might be that he wants to be top dog somewhere, and Bayern is too crowded in his area for him to be that. I'd think there would be more than just us as suitors though, which would be our biggest obstacle given our slide down the table.

Completely. I think the other main obstacle is selling the club under Moyes. An elite level footballer would want assurances that we're actually going to be playing positive football. That could hold us back this summer in the market, if Moyes is still in the job.

Not a hard sell to say in that look, you are exactly what we need to get the most out of the likes of Rooney, RVP, Mata, Kagawa, Januzaj (and Nani). We've got the attack covered but, a player like you who will start every game, be the star of the midfield and run games for us is all that is missing in terms of being an offensive juggernaut again.

Like Carrick then. @Red Hand Devil is right.

I'll gladly take him off the Germans and watch us win trophies after trophies while our detractors go on about us not having a "Steven Gerrard" class of midfielder then.

Still don't think it'll happen though. But who knows eh, he might be tempted after seeing how great our matchgoing support is despite us effectively playing percentage football at home.

It certainly didnt do any harm our lot clapping him off the pitch man. I thought he was superb. Nice & neat & always wanted the ball. Not to mention him constantly pointing where the ball should be played. He's a leader & a very confident one at that.

If he came here he'd be worshipped like all our great players in the past & present. We love our idols at United. He'll never have that at Bayern, which is feckin bizarre. Outstanding player. The man never seems pressured - ala Scholesy...

I'm just wreckin my own head here dreaming of him comin to us, but he'd be a king here. Just hope he had a thought of what it would be like playin with that crowd behind him - home & away...

So proud of our lot

Could Jan Aage and ITV have taken 2 bits of a harmless quote and spun them? He could have said 'I belong to Bayern now but the future I decide later'. Paper talk.

Just like Ronaldo all over again. Just waiting for Blatter to come out & mention "slave" or some shit like that...

Or the Ronaldo line of: "Only God knows..." - Complete Bollox i might add. There was no mention of that at mass!

Jan Aage is reliable, it would have been in german those quotes speaking to him after the game, would be word for word.

Unless we tapped him up illegally

Players would be able to play in a game though, it's happened in lots of games, even last year, Mario Gotze played for Dortmund in the final against Bayern in the CL and he was a Bayern player, even Lewandowski wanted to leave for Bayern at that point.

Goetze didn't play in the final, and Bayern are a different animal to Dortmund too, I have doubts they would play him.

Of course the Mirror are coming out with some nothing article about Kroos right now, seeing as there's lots of attention on Bayern anyways. Classic paper click baiting. We may be trying to sign Kroos, or we may not be, but I guarantee the Mirror don't have any more clue than us as to what's happening. Certainly not that a bid is "imminent".

The perfect midfield if we were serious about splashing the cash to fix the team would be Vidal - Kroos which can be combined with a DM for the big games.

I touch myself at night to this thought.

Just think of Moyes managing them to kill the boner.

Don't see how they were worse without him. They pretty much won the CL convincingly without him. Wouldn't say he's a modern day scholes. Scholes at his age was a better vertical player. He could give and take better than pretty much any footballer out there and that's what made him special. Plus his runs into the box were a constant threat, not so for kroos. Perhaps compared to 'old scholes' you could have a point.

His range is great, but his vision is nothing special. He only has 4 assists despite playing week in week out for a team that scores for fun. What does that tell you? Just watch him play and its easy to spot. What he is great at is spreading play and keeping play ticking along. His game vs arsenal isn't a regular occurrence, if it was he'd be a much more coveted footballer. Ask any bayern fan and they'll tell you the same.

As I said he's a good player but people talking 50 mill have lost it. Nothing makes him a better player than someone like pjanic so why pay that when we could get him for half of that?
