Thought it was Scholes on the pitch again at times in the first half. Just bigger and less ginger.

He had an easy job out there. Hang around outside our box, sweep up any clearances and recycle the ball to the flanks. He hardly broke a sweat.

He really would be perfect for us which basically means it won't happen.

Had an easy job today but showed his class with some of his passes. Better than anybody we have in midfield. Won't be my first choice though as I would like somebody a bit more mobile, like Vidal or a fit Gundogan, but won't of course say no as he too would improve us massively.

Didnt have his best game. Maybe he thought he was playing for the wrong side.

Wouldn't worry about it too much. He was starstruck and was giddy over playing at OT in front of his next manager Moyes. It's just nerves. He's getting ready to play for us.

The way he strikes the ball so cleanly for those raking passes is a sight to behold.

an own goal next week should speed things up nicely.
He got applauded off by the OT faithful too when he got subbed. If he is a United fan, that must've been something. The fans could have just snagged us one of our prime targets, but I guess the extra £50k per week wouldn't hurt.

It wasn't his best game tonight, yet he'd still be an incredible signing for us, or anyone else for that matter.

Hopefully the loss of Schweinsteger and Martinez means he'll be isolated next week.

Like Carrick used to do!

I hope folk realise what a player Carrick was in his prime, which wasnt that far away either. Its just this year he's got far too much responsibility on his shoulders & he had Scholesy by his side more times than enough in the past number of years to relieve the burden.

Carrick still has it in him to be a great player for us, he just needs someone(others) to aid his re-adjusted game - he cant play 1st to the last third for large periods of the game & still be effective. Just look at Pirlo - his game is steady but very brilliant, but he has 2 of the best CM's around in Vidal & Pogba doing the donkey-work for him.

Great nite to silence the critics, but sadly most of the critics are us - me included. My hat is tipped to Moyes & the boys, regardless of the 2nd leg... Bayern will feel they can railroad us & i tend to agree with that. But, we've done it before away - Juve, Inter, Red Star... we can do it again!

Proper United spirit shown tonight & thats made me a very happy United man!

You guys should read some of the German forums. Majority describe him as a coward and that he adds nothing special to them. Not to mention that he is too slow, can't dribble and shouldn't ask for so much money as he isn't worth it.

Honestly that he didn't look anything special was also a fault from Guardiola. Schweinsteiger isn't a 10, Kroos played deeper as always and Lahm played the DM. 2 8s one false 9 and 2 wingers didn't work today. Looked much more balanced when Mandzukic came in.

Didnt attend the German classes at an Irish Catholic school, so thats me snookered!

I thought Kroos would be perfect for United after tonight, if he has the players around him - which i hope we bring in of course.

Folk can slag me for saying this, but Carrick in his plomb is a better player than Kroos - but Kroos has a goal threat that Carrick never had!

He wasn't applauded off. Buttner was walking down the touchline towards the Stretford End and it was he that got the applause. Kroos just happened to be getting subbed whilst this was going on.

There were photos kicking about on twitter looking like he was having a whinge at Pep after being subbed.

Had one Scholes-esque pass to the wing in the first half, other than that I thought he was fairly quiet.

Out to Rafinha? That was a beauty. Ya he was fairly quiet alright. I don't think I have ever seen him play that deep for Bayern before. Even Schweinsteiger was given more of a licence to get forward. Still desperate for us to sign him this summer. Him and Carvalho (or if I'm going to give into my inner muppet, him and Pogba) would sort our midfield out for the next decade.

I thought he was superb. He seemed to be everywhere. Great engine and able to pass long and short. If we don't try to break the bank for him, I'll be very disappointed. Even if he and/or Bayern turn us down, I do hope we do everything in our power to get him.

There were several Scholes like passes. He's definitely the closest thing to the ginger prince in the modern game.

Sign him up.

Like Carrick then. @Red Hand Devil is right.

I'll gladly take him off the Germans and watch us win trophies after trophies while our detractors go on about us not having a "Steven Gerrard" class of midfielder then.

Still don't think it'll happen though. But who knows eh, he might be tempted after seeing how great our matchgoing support is despite us effectively playing percentage football at home.

His primary instinct seems to be to receive the ball and ping it out wide to the wingers immediately. He'd fit in well with our philosophy

:lol::lol:

Exactly my thoughts. Why would the OT crowd applause Kroos? Bizarre line of thought.

Don't think he's all that. All he's really good at is taking long range shots and he has a great passing range. Either than that can't really see what makes him a special player. He can't penetrate midfield lines, he doesn't have much vision, and he's is neigh on pointless in defence.

Mate you don´t watch much football do you??
You should watch him vs Arsenal if you want to see his quality.. We made it difficult for Bayern yesterday..

We should just go in hard for him, £50m to Bayern and a £250 000 wage offer to him, literally break the bank for him . A midfield of Carrick/Cavalho, Kroos and Mata, whilst on the slow side could easily stand toe to toe against the best in the business . Get some serious pace on the flanks and Rooney as the lone striker and we could do some serious damage in the league .

Seen him having a few words with Pep after being subbed last night. I bet Moyes had a snigger to himself when he saw that. If we got Kroos and Carvalho in the summer, it would greatly increase our midfield power. Something we have lacked for a few years now.

£50m for a player who has 1 year left on his contract ? If he really wants to come, he can let his contract run down and we could offer him a massive bonus when signing but a transfer this summer is just not happening.

Didnt think it was his best perfromance ever last night, but still had a few nice passes out wide but he's capeable of more, still.. I'm not getting my hopes up, I believe at the end of the day his camp are using us as leverage, but stranger things have happened, Toure from Barca to City for example a few years back.

Top football knowledge that.

I've seen him loads. He was great vs arsenal quite obviously but even then people overblow the impact he has on games. Claiming him to be bayern's iniesta when he quite clearly isn't. He's no xavi either cause he simply doesn't have that sort of vision. He's got a great shot but is normally hasty in bringing it out so scores very few times. He's a good player obviously but not someone I'd say would warrant the sort of breaking of the bank that people are advocating.
