I'd be surprised if other teams aren't in for him. And I doubt it's made up by journos.

He's a world class player, who would walk into most top teams.

We'd actually end up better off than if we had signed Thiago, I think. Kroos has more experience and looks more suited to a midfield role in the current United side, behind the three attacking midfielders, than Thiago who's an attacking midfielder himself.

Kroos is brilliant. However, if there is even the slightest chance, we must go after Vidal.

Did post a few pages back it got the dreaded curse of last post so got mainly ignored, but a new member by the name of Anderson18 sent me this below, which seemed quite insightful, sounds like he know's what he's talking about..
Hi!
I saw the discussion about Kroos and I think I could give you guys some explanation on what is going on with the Kroos deal.
Bayern tried to extend him now for a long time. Kicker even reported in summer that he has already extended his contract with Bayern Munich. What is widely believed now is that Bayern are trying to lowball him with an offer believed to be in the 7-8m€ region. Volker Struth, his agent, is also representing Götze and Reus and Götze is the highest paid player at Bayern Munich with 12m€. Schweinsteiger is for example on 10m€. If you compare it to the EPL then 7-8m€ region would be 110k-130k and Götze on 200k. Now what Kroos and his agent are trying to do is using us to show them that other big clubs would easily bow to his demands which are in the Schweinsteiger region (150k per week ca.)
Kroos is also not that loved in Munich. He is very underrated from the fans and only more reasonable fans will tell you how valuable he is to this team. Götze, Shaquiri, Müller, Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Ribery are more appreciated.
My opinion is that, at the moment we are clearly being used for the contract talks but if they don't up their offer I could see him leave. But don't forget Pep and his influence. If Thiago doesn't step up and becomes more like Pep wants him I could see Guardiola telling Sammer that they have to extend him under any circumstances. Could be happening but I doubt it.

I don't believe that "not that loved in Munchen" line. It makes no sense. He's part of the world's best squad and he has an important role there.

EXCLUSIVE: Moyes plots £25m Kroos deal! United boss targets Bayern contract rebel
  • Germany midfielder wants £150,000-a-week deal

  • United boss Moyes keen to add new signings

  • Bayern are reluctant to sell and will demand at least £25million
David Moyes is ready to hit Bayern Munich with a bid for contract rebel Toni Kroos after it emerged the Germany midfielder’s wage demand is only half the amount that has been offered to Wayne Rooney.

After being watched by Moyes at Borussia Moenchengladbach last Friday night, Kroos admitted there were no plans for further talks on renewing a contract that runs out at the end of next season and he was in the dark over his future.

It was thought he was looking for a pay rise that might cause unrest in the Bayern dressing room after chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge admitted talks were deadlocked and ruefully added that it was ‘always about money in these negotiations.’

But Sportsmail understands the figure presented to Allianz Arena bosses is around £150,000 a week, half the weekly £300,000 dangled before Rooney to extend his Old Trafford stay.

Kroos evidently believes he is well worth a salary that would edge him nearer top earners like Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Franck Ribery and is prepared to stick to his guns.

Though talks have ground to a halt, Bayern are reluctant to sell and will ask at least £25million, should they sense there is a danger of Kroos running down his current deal.

With United’s midfield still in need of strengthening, even after the arrival of Juan Mata, Moyes is unlikely to be deterred and will surely be encouraged by a clear signal he would have little difficulty keeping Kroos happy on the pay front.

Sportsmail exclusively revealed on Saturday that Moyes, and assistants Steve Round and Phil Neville, had been met outside Moenchengladbach’s ground on Friday night by one of Kroos’ advisers, Sascha Breese, who escorted them inside and sat with them throughout the game against Bayern.

Sports Total, for whom Breese works, have since tried to play down claims that Kroos could be heading for Old Trafford, but Moyes has promised more significant signings before the window closes and has the 24-year old in his sights.

At least 25m? I'd have thought more tbh.

He only has 1 year left on his contract in the summer though so 25-30m isnt that unlikely if he pushes for the move.

Bayern sold us crock for £17m.

I really can't see them letting him go unless on a free. They just got one of the bargains in Lewandowski on a free. So easily could afford to let Kroos see out his contract.

Pep's comments come across like a manager telling a player not to be greedy rather than expecting him to be sold, IMO. How often do Bayern lose top players, let alone top German players?

Pep should stop being greedy and let this one go. How many great midfielders can one have ffs.

I dont get this kind of attitude. The club has a lot of money to spend, and is seemingly about to make one of its players the best paid in the PL, and probably one of the bst paid in Europe. Clearly the club has ambitions, and if Chelsea and City can attract top players then so can United.

As ever, players will be interested. A lot on here underrate significantly the power of doubling someone's wages - when added to the attraction of joining a genuinely massive club with a lot of history, and primed - if the money is spent right - to be challenging in Europe and the PL every year.

My attitude?

Rooney's been carryin us all season & he cant do it on his own dude. We're strugglin big time all over the park. The summer is miles away too. This is the now & we need upgrades pronto - not in the summer only. How we cant find better players now than we already have, is beyond me.

Go for the impossible in the summer & get the possible now as the days draw close.. Its not rocket-science!

does he know we have a helicopter?

We need to get one of these & then we're in business man:

Pessimist in me says Pep is using the media same way as Kroos and his reps are. Basically saying, fine if you've got suitors you could be gone, we aren't bending over backwards to meet his demands.

Send Jones and De Gea as a negotiating team on the Helicopter. Bring Mata to fly the copter.
Problem solved.

I was referring to this comment - "I just hope we're not tryin for players that we dont have a prayer in signing". The club, can and are right to target the very best.

As it stands, Cabaye is probably better than Cleverly - but I'd suggest its likely that the club want players of an even better standard. If what we have won't get us into the top 4, then I dont see that Cabeye would be the difference maker. No point signing a player for £20 million and £80k a week wages and then having him sat on the bench in 6 months if and when a first choice comes in.

Guardiola's Tweeted comments (if they are his comments) sound like he's inviting bids.
