In the sense that he isn't really what we need. He's more of a box-to-box, and that's basically what Herrera will be doing. I also rate Herrera higher, he's come off the back of a more successful season and is younger and a lot quicker. We are in more need of a holding midfielder, and that just isn't a role Khedira tends to play.
Marca also saying he's rejected offers from us, Chelsea, and Barcelona.
Fair point... Whenever i saw Kehdira play he has reminded me of when Fletcher was good.

We have an abundance of talent in the number ten role and we've just spent big on Herrera who is a box to box player. Even if we did sign Kroos it would mean we'd have to bench one of Mata/Herrera and that's just not going to happen.
Balance is much more important than names and the midfielder we need now is someone that can partner Herrera and help us out defensively while being good technically and having the mobility and energy required to shine in Van Gaals system. I don't know who that midfielder will be but it certainly isn't Kroos.

Apparently Kroos will join the European champions for a fee in the region of £25m.

Schweinsteiger would be perfect for the role you described. But wont happen now. I am for Carvalho as an option.
Very bad career decision IMO. Modric is clearly a better player than him and has several years on top level. He'll warm the Madrid's bench.
I'd be very happy with Schweinsteiger if we could get him. If Javi Martinez does want out of Bayern he would be perfect as well.
Not sure about Carvalho as I've only really seen him twice but who knows at this stage. I trust Van Gaal though which is a nice change from what we had last year.

I doubt Vidal will go to Bayern. Kroos wants to leave cause he wants wage to match highest earners, but also becase there are simply too many top players for 2-3 slots in midfield. They don't need Vidal.

They buy a player, he plays good for them, but then they treat him like cr*p and sell him only to gather media attention and merchandise by hitting the headlines with new signings.. it doesn't even matter if the players plays well like Hugain or Khedira, Ozil or Di Maria... I just don't get players who still want to play for Real Madrid... If I were a player I would never sign for them.

I can't see any scenario where we weren't in for him. I think other more attractive options came in and it's saving face from the club.
Surprised by that from Scholes. Herrera is a proper player and will give our midfield a huge lift. Totally different player to Kroos. That being said, I do like Kroos but in a choice between a midfield of Herrera and Kroos or Herrera and Vidal, I'd take the latter, which isn't to say we'll get Vidal either. Kroos would be a great signing, in any case, but if Van Gaal fancies other options, you have to trust him.
It's pretty clear we were in for Kroos and highly likely that he may turned us down for variet of reasons. People should recognise and appreciate that signing players is different from buying an object in a supermarket where you just throw things in the trolley, consent of the target is needed and I don't see how you can try ''harder'' than the rumoured £250k/week wage offer we made !
I am satisfied that rather than spending the whole summer buying dummies from player agents we have acted swiftly on talented players that have the attributes we badly lacked last season . Kroos is far from a box to box CM. He plays a holding role for Germany and it can be argued for Bayern as well. Plays like Scholes in his later days.

Look at how he's playing against Algeria. He's the most inventive of all the German players. He really is a top player. I am going to be disappointed wherever he goes next.
Yeah he's a great ball player. But he doesn't press well at all, which is why we are after Vidal and I believe that is more important. I'm feed up of us getting over run in the middle of the park, Herrera plus a Vidal would prevent this. Kroos would not, but what a hell of a ball player he is.
