Its Real. Sense goes out of the window. Considering Ancelotti is the manager and a top one at that, if they get Kroos, it'd be the end of Di Maria or Modric which would be hilarious as I'd have the 2 among their top 3 players this season.
Manchester United bid €24m, then Van Gaal telephones player to make transfer happen
On Saturday Spanish newspaper Sport claimed that Manchester United had bid €24m for Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos. They also stated that the German international was open to a move away from his current club and that a big wage offer from Manchester United was more than tempting for Kroos.
The reason for the Spanish reporting was supposed interest from Barcelona and there's more in Spain on Sunday with El Confidencial covering it from a Real Madrid perspective. They've been explaining for a week or so that Carlo Ancelotti is keen on the midfielder but, just like Sport and Barcelona, they claim the biggest threat is Manchester United.
El Confidencial even state that it's known at the Santiago Bernabeu that Louis van Gaal has spoken to Kroos personally to help a move to Manchester happen. The Spanish outlet say that Bayern Munich would prefer a Kroos move to Real Madrid, who they consider to be a 'friendly' club to them. It's previously been explained in Spain that Real Madrid wouldn't pursue Kroos, so as not to upset the German club, but it's different if they get to the point where they're selling him anyway. It's mentioned that Sami Khedira could be used in a deal.
So that's two very different Spanish newspapers in two days both reporting that Manchester United are still in for Kroos, one claiming a bid and one claiming a Van Gaal conversation.
I would prefer it we could get Kroos rather than Cesc. We already have Mata and Kagawa who could play the same role as Cesc (no.10 or attacking one out of a midfield 3) but we have no one like Kroos.

Moyes says in the Sunday Times WC Guide that he had put alot of groundwork down to sign Kroos, has him rated as one of his top players to perform in the WC this year.

They're reliable in terms of what they're reporting comes from real sources, what they won't know is whether their sources are right. The article in question is this:

What that says is that Real Madrid believe than van Gaal has called Kroos. What they don't say is who told Madrid that. Was it Kroos, Kroos's agent, somebody from Bayern, somebody from United?
In any case for all we know van Gaal called him to say that Bayern aren't selling and that he should give us a ring when he's a free agent in 2015.
If Kroos and / or Vidal goes to Madrid, how long before the "Modric to United" rumours kick into life again?
