Bayern and Kroos haven't been close to a deal. If you had followed Kroos' interviews during the last couple of years, you'd be aware how much he strives for being widely acknowledged as world class player in the Ballon d'Or range. He'll move to any club with CL football giving him exactly that "special one" feeling.

I do not see him staying in Munich either. Him and his father had the career plan for the future already packed out when he was 17 - doing extra English lesson etc. Atleast then Bayern was not more than a career step. He is somebody that seems to value himself very much - and I doubt that he is content with his role in Munich. And that will not change much no matter how he plays. He will always stand in the shadows of others. It is not only the money question. And I do not think that Bayern does wrong with the offer they did and not giving him more than that for a rise.

But - I do not think that it will be Manchester United. Not when van Gaal is there.

why?

they were close to a deal...then it all went south.

more money and recognition were part of it obviously. But Bayern stance was has not changed. There must be other factors...we are speculating of course.

He'll be at Bayern next season. If he plays well and goes up to the next level they'll give him more money and he'll probably be happy enough with that

We definitely need quality in a couple of positions. If Woodie devotes as much time working on actual transfers as he does reporting to the press than we may come up winners by the end of the transfer window. This is his litmus test, lets wait and watch what happens.

We could do well with selling the players who have become burden on the team and replacing them with younger, hungrier quality additions. Then I really believe, if we are back in the CL, we can make a couple of big moves.

Woodie and LvG need to come through this term as everyone suggests they will.

We need quality irrespective if they are big moves or not. We won't get to 4th place without them

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea could be in for him.

Toni Kroos could still end up in the Barclays Premier League after claims Chelsea are ready to join the bidding if he becomes a free agent next year.

A proposed move to Manchester United may have collapsed, after new manager Louis Van Gaal decided against pursuing their interest, but the Bayern Munich midfielder remains at loggerheads with club bosses over renewing a contract that is entering its final 12 months.

Even an attempt to end conjecture he may be Old Trafford-bound left the door open for other clubs to start drawing up wage offers to try and tempt him away this time next year.

‘There has been a lot of speculation, but I won’t be going to Manchester United,’ he said. ‘I can tell you for sure I will be playing for Bayern Munich next season.’

According to sources in Munich, his refusal to commit himself to Bayern beyond the one remaining season on his current contract has alerted Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who would welcome the chance to add the 24-year old’s goalscoring flair from midfield to his attacking options.

Kroos would be free to talk to Chelsea representatives at the turn of the year, and there is little doubt they could meet wage demands that have so far scuppered any prospect of a new deal being thrashed out at Bayern.

Sportsmail revealed in February how Bayern bosses were digging their heels in over Kroos’ bold bid to more than double his earnings from just over £60,000 a week to around £150,000.

Kroos is currently in the middle band of earners, whose pay ranges from £50,000 to £80,000 a week, but feels he should be elevated to the elite section, where the likes of Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Franck Ribery pocket around £150,000.

Bayern are about to add Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski to their list of top earners but are determined to maintain the balance of their pay scale on current lines and adamant Kroos cannot move up.

I'd be livid if they got him, especially if they did so on the cheap. Shades of Ballack.

Sure do hope not but it's probably just more rubbish from the Mail, they love making stuff up. They said last week he was joining us for £20m...

nonsense, but it would make way more sense for Chelsea to buy him than for United.
He fits way better in a 3 men midfield. He could play as #10 in a defensive setup and as #8, with a hard-working Oscar infront of him, in a more offensive lineup. At the moment Chelsea doesnt really have anyone to replace Oscar.

Don't think that working with LvG and more cash substitutes Kroos for no European football next season. In fact, this could have well been his position: If you qualify for Europa League: Deal. If not: Let's wait until summer 2015 and see if you're back on European stage.

Makes perfect sense for a player of his calibre.

Europa league? I can understand if Kroos doesn't want to come to United but that is a bit of a ridiculous condition.

Also, there's no chance Kroos is more likely to go to Chelsea. Kroos isn't Mourinho's kind of player.

Now lets get that CL place. Then we can match every other top clubs' offer next season.

Daily Mail = Daily Fail.

Seriously, has there ever been a single transfer which DM announced as the first ones? DM is one of the worst fiction sites in football.

One of the worst sources ever in reality, for everything.

If Oscar is a "Mourinho's kind of player", Kroos surely is as well. Other than Mata he would be exactly the kind of player Mourinho wants to have as #10.
I dont think that he´ll join Chelsea; he will stay at least one more year in Munich and most likely extend his contract. Still considering tactics he would be a good fit for Chelsea.

I think you're comparing apples and oranges when it comes to Kroos and Oscar, to be honest. And as @peterstorey says, would Kroos really want to go and play for a manager who'd want him to bleed for the team every game in terms of commitment to tracking back? I don't see it.

How many games from Kroos have you seen since 09/10? Considering his workrate, he is nothing like Mata, Özil or Silva (they have different qualities). There are very few #10 that have a higher workrate than him (on a international top-level).
If Mou wants to play puristic counterattacking football, Kroos might still be the wrong guy (even so he works pretty well in such a system), but if he wants to broaden his system, Kroos would be perfect. The only thing that could be a problem is, that Kroos and Oscar both want to be starter and I dont know if Kroos would fit into another position.

God, this transfer rumours business is getting more and more ridiculous every day. What do the Mail propose went on here? They just called up Jose and asked him his targets for next summer, and he just dished them out? Absolute fecking waste of space newspaper.

Even though its made up bollocks, its such a pointless story. One of the best CMs around available for free and clubs want him. Shock. Horror.

I thought Kroos was going to be mega at 18 but I think he's another of these very good players without a real fit for position, He isn't enough of a forward for a No.10 nor a proper CM. So you have to adapt the whole team to get the best out of him.

This is correct. And it's not just their football coverage. It is an absolute travesty of a newspaper to the extent that I wouldn't even trust the date they print on the front.

Next summer every man and his dog will take an interest in Kroos. It's not often players of his quality have their contract run completely down.

After the Mata crap does any attacking player want to go to Chelsea?
They only have to show them the Arsenal game film where they put 6 past your lot. Maybe that'll help entice an attacking player.

Anyways, didn't the Mail break the Luiz story last week? Could be something in this but I'm not entirely sure Kroos would be a great fit there. Not the athletic, hard working, physical player Mourinho usually likes is he?

I'll be very surprised if Bayern won't decide to cash in for such big format player that price may even rise even more after World Cup.

He got on with Xabi just fine. Modric too.

Both Xabi and Modric can put in a tackle and contribute defensively. Both good at breaking up play and harassing opposing players. Haven't watched enough of Kroos, so does he do those things?

They just can do that if he is going for it. He has still a year contract... But - Kroos would be stupid if he would. Next year he has it totally in his hand where he wants to go and can profit much better of a transfer himself.

It is a little risky as there might be a longer injury or he might get less playing time - but in every other case it is him who has the better cards...

Please be back on.

http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/...ited-bid-24m-for-bundesliga-midfielder-offer-

Spanish newspaper Sport have on Saturday covered what they explain is increased Real Madrid interest in Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos. Despite the club having a wealth of talent in midfield, Carlo Ancelotti apparently wants more and Ivan Rakitic, reported to be another target, looks destined to join Barcelona for a bargain €18m.

Sport acknowledge that Real Madrid will have competition for Kroos, but they insist he fancies a move away from Bayern. The problem for Real Madrid, according to Sport, is that Manchester United have already bid €24m for the player.

The Spanish newspaper finds that amount surprising, given that Kroos only has one year left on his current contract. The British media, and many fans of Manchester United, may think that sounds a little too low... we'd probably side with them.

In addition to the €24m offer as a transfer fee, Sport say that Manchester United have told Kroos they'll pay him €16m a season, which is much higher than what he's been offered at Bayern Munich, and that's by quite some distance.

But why would Sport know what was going on? They're a mainly Catalan-centric newspaper, it's an odd area for them to have expertise. Being as kind as possible to the publication, they could be aware because Barcelona are interested too, but that would be giving the benefit of the doubt to them.

The media here have reported that Kroos is no longer a target, and surely Edward Woodward hasn't got to the level where he's double bluffing.

I've missed this thread not being amongst the recently bumped for the past week or two!

Sport seem to report some real speculative rumours, so not giving much credit to this unfortunately. I do still find it odd that LVG dropped all interest in this lad though. Hard to see how he wouldn't be an asset in any system, unless it was the high salary that put him off.

By the way, I fail to see the link between Di Maria leaving if Kroos came in. Have I missed something?

Why the feck would Madrid wan't rid of Di Maria, what a load of t#*t jangle.

There was a TV show in Croatia with Mandzukic as guest (taped May 10), and as they were in the Bayern dressing room, Mandzu said that players always joke around before the game, all except Lahm, who is just not the type, and Kroos, who always sits inside his booth and listen's to his music. The way he said it....sounded like Kroos is not really connected with the rest of the team.

Who gives a feck sounds like Scholes and Rooney had no relationship worth talking about.

Spanish paper AS claim that talks are underway with his agent for a move to Madrid.

Imagine the meltdown of Madrid fans if Perez sold Di Maria :lol:
