There you go!

Going by how LvG has worked in the past at other clubs, he'll want to assess our current crop of youth talent coming through the ranks and see who he can bring in to the first team. I've no doubt he will have 2-3 players that he will want to bring in from elsewhere but I, personally, feel LvG will want to build from within rather than have too many players come from outside not understanding fully what it means to play for United.

LvG is a wizard when it comes to nurturing youth so I've no qualms about him not going for Kroos, if that indeed is the case, if he feels he can either get better value for a more up & coming player or bring through a youth player that is showing promise. Either way, it's only the end of May, things could be happening behind the scenes that we are just not aware of so be patient, have faith and I'm sure we'll start the new season with strong belief that we'll challenge for trophies with LvG at the helm.

There you go!

Let's pretend that, just for fun, some of us can't speak German. In this highly unlikely scenario; if you were to translate it for us, what would it say?

Completely hypothetically speaking, of course.

Remind me, who are our midfield prospects coming through the ranks?

Are any of them close? Is it conceivable any of them could emerge next season with a bit of the Van Gaal magic dust sprinkled on them?

"Manchester United is, and never was a problem"

Of course you can manipulate it anyway you want to.

We already wasted an entire season for Moyes to 'assess' the squad. Let's waste another. Brilliant.

This is already turning into last summer. I thought that we did our research so this shit wouldn't happen again?

"Manchester United is, and never was a problem"

Thank you. So the whole "United were never an option" thing was just a misquote.

It's confirmed people! He's deffo joining us now! Reus and Messi and Ronaldo too!

I'm not sure I'd translate 'das Thema' as problem, it certainly can mean that but it makes far more sense in this context as:

'issue' or probably 'question'

"Manchester United is, and never was, a question" is the meaning i would take.

Yup. I am weak at German, so... But you get the meaning.

Well, yeah. I was expecting something like that.

Yeah, its the problem of arguing semantics in a foreign language I guess. You translate it as problem and you get the sense that we would use in English (not a problem in joining Manchester united etc..), translate it as 'question' and it adopts the sense 'joining Manchester United was never in question', completely different meanings from the translation of one word.

I'm calling it right now. We wont sign Kroos. We won't sign Fabregas or Vidal either. We won't sign any of our other top midfield targets. We'll end up with maybe Shaw and one or two mid level CMs who were last place on our list of options, our main targets will join our rivals, and we'll finish 4th just ahead of Liverpool - who'll miss out on CL qualification due to Gerrard slipping again.

So he'll go to another club & be a success & we'll run through 3 or 4 players trying to find his like, as we've done so many times tryin to replace Keano & now we're trying to do the same with Scholes.

That whole logic that we dont want players coming here for the money is a Fergie deja vu. If we'd have been willing to spend a little more over the years - we'd have won more than 2 Champions League titles.

I wonder what LvG would have thought about Keano's insistence that he be the highest paid player at the club - would that insinuate that he only wants to play United because of money?

Footballs changed for Christ sake & footballers who wouldnt be interested coming to a club can be persuaded because of it - same as every working environment.

Is LvG gonna get rid of Rooney since he only stayed because of the bumper £300k per week too?

I'm not even sure the quote is real, however it does tie in with LVG's philosophy. There are other CMs out there, and in all honesty I think Kroos will play for Bayern next season, more than likely even if he doesn't sign a new contract.

He is not the only player we can get to improve in CM.

In the case of the money, I'm pretty sure you want players to come in obviously they will be paid well, but that not being the no1 motivation.
Just look at QPR and Man City under Hughes lots of mercenary players. Keano and Rooney wanted to play for United (regardless of if they wanted to be paid well, they still wanted to play for United and not just the highest bidder)

Similar to Nasri, I for one am glad we didn't sign him, he went to play for money.

I'm not saying this about Kroos, however I am not pissed off that LVG holds that sort of philosophy, mercenary players tend to be found wanting when the going gets tough.

But how do we know if we have enough youngsters who are good enough to make the jump? If a number of them were good enough, they would have earned more than just just a very few starts with the first team under Fergie/Moyes. Furthermore, how can we be sure the youngsters can be nurtured in the right way if we don't have quality first-teamers who act as examples to follow? We can already scratch Rio and Vida while the likes of Valencia, Young, Nani, Fletcher, Carrick, Fellaini and Cleverley are in NO POSITION to be examples to look up for in terms of standards to follow. We have a problem in midfield... even that is an understatement.

For the record, LVG also brought players from his high-profile Ajax battalion at Barcelona before he could focus on nurturing the youth waiting below. I don't see why he would reject the idea of looking at someone he knows very well like Kroos.

Exactly what I was referring to. If our midfield prospects were that good, they would have earned minutes a long time ago with the first team. Also, the likes of Young, Nani, Valencia and Cleverley would have been sold long ago as a result.

Kroos has just tweeted. It's officially OFF

Just damn great! :( :(

P.S. Adam from FullTimeDEVILS?

It's not 'complete madness'. Jesus christ, I didn't realise muppet suicides by the 23rd of May. Kroos is undoubtedly a very good player, but to act like its like LVG doesn't want to sign Messi is bizarre. Have you ever thought that the reason that the transfer was even doable in the first place is because his club didnt rate him as highly as we did, and did you stop to think why that might be?

Pretty simple really - he wants the same wages as the top earners at the club & Bayern dont want to rock the wage boat because there'll be a queue of the squad at Herr Money Man's door thereafter..

In a nutshell - Kroos earns £75k per wk & Nani earns more than Kroos at £80k+. Even more annoying is that Kieran Dyer earned £70k per week in 2007 at Newcastle & probably at West Ham also.. Its sickening what they all earn of course & i'm just jealous too...

We're not signing a player that either our new manager isn't interested in, or himself has no interest in coming to the club, likely the latter, and people are getting up in arms and moaning already that the summer's going to be a disaster, before the window has even opened.

Caf transfer windows are just the worst.

A twist on the old Groucho Marx saying: I wouldnt want to be a member of any club that would have me as a member.

I wouldnt want to sign any player whose club would be willing to let him go.

Groucho had some classics alright..

I love this Groucho slag: "I never forget a face - but for you i'll make an exception..." or something along those lines...

You already know this ones going to be bad. I need to find a way of avoiding this forum over the next few months.

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.
Fool me every single transfer window, I'm clearly a United fan.

Plus I predict we will buy Felliani's brother on the last day of the shopping season.

Wow well that pretty much sums it up, as long as he doesnt join another club that offer silly money then fine, it was always a hopeful punt on our part that went a bit too far. I was pretty sure wed get him but it was based off old information and obviously the last couple of days Bayern have slammed their foot down. I wouldnt be surprised to see us go back in next summer although on a free everyone will be in and I could see City offering some silly wages.

Its a strange decision by Bayern unless they really will up their offer for his wages I just cant see why they would miss out on the fee this year? I suppose its their policy no matter how much senseless it is to me.

Can I just ask why everyone has completely disregarded the opportunity to get Vidal? Isnt it known he isnt part of Juves plans and they want Nani? Nani feeding Drogba would be a tasty prospect for them. They relaly have assembled a fantastic squad havent they.

Now he I would take in a second.

Yeah quality player alright man - he seems a lifer though & fair-play to him for that.

Yer man Callum Hamilton (who wrote the article) is pretty funny isnt he NC?

"Whether or not we're interested, Hunter has no idea. But I think I can speak for the other two members of TBB as well as myself when I say: WHAT?! SCHWEINSTEIGER? HE'S PERFECT! WHY ARE THEY SELLING HIM? WHY DOES ULI HOENESS STILL HAVE A HAND, SINCE YOU SHOULD HAVE RIPPED IT OFF? GET HIM ON THE NEXT PLANE TO MANCHESTER YOU DUNCES!"

Quality :D

So many drama queens in this and other threads. Its only end of may and people are acting its doomsday cause we didnt sign anyone and think it will be like last year's transfer window. We have plenty of time to sign players we need. Its not that we need to buy all of our targets or players we need till the end of may or sthing.

"For all the speculation you should read Bild today. There's nothing more to say."?

Doesn't say anymore than the paper does.
And the paper says he's not leaving, Man Utd was never a choice according to BILD.

No i'm just on red cafe :)

No i'm just on red cafe :)

It depends on your translation. Most translations of his BILD comments would be more along the lines of United not being an issue or concern, which would suggest that we never went in for him, not that he's openly rejected us after we tried to approach him.

Not saying he would join us mind, just that he hasn't ruled it out. Not that he needs to, of course.

Here is the Bild article:

TONI KROOS IS TO BETRAY HIS MOVE TO MANCHESTER IN THE CABIN HAVE
Mob British sprinkle transfer rumors

The toughest opponent forthe Bavariawas most recently an English newspaper ...

Only insulted the "Daily Mirror" Bastian Schweinsteiger after the first leg with"You dirty pig"(you dirty pig "), had to apologize for it.Now the Mob British want to make again for unrest.

The newspaper claims,Toni Kroos(24) have decided to go for 300 000 euros per week to Manchester United.Even the players he should have informed the cabin.

Kroos consultant Volker Struth says BILD: "We are confronted with a variety of rumors for months, but will continue not get to learn. But the moment I believe that Toni 2015 plays at least in Bavaria. "

Then the contract runs out.Previous attempts to use an extension failed to financial differences.

 None of that even makes any sense. I love automatic translations.

I think most of the panic is coming from the fact that there's feck all top quality CM's available and the general feeling from the club was that some things were put in place to ensure that this summer doesn't turn into a farce like the last one. It's going to be extremely difficult to sign players of the needed quality during this World Cup.

I aree, but there's too much panic I think. :)

I'm sure LVG knows what players he wants, and I'm sure most of the journalists are just making things up. Yesterday it was that LVG doesnt want to pursue Kroos, today its Kros staying and United was never an option, yesterday it was Fabregas is available, today he's not..

We wont get the likes of Kroos. The faster we understand that the better.
Transfer muppets are getting more aggressive these days! What did you mean by we WON'T?

And it's in the news van Gaal is not in favour of landing Kroors. I expect a muppet meltdown in here! lol

Then our transfer policies are fecking pathetic

Says it all. I keep wondering when we will learn that there are ways to do business quickly and efficiently, even if that means playing a number of dirty tricks to lure a player's attention. Give the money and pay the agents. Feck any form of moral utopia!

I think clubs with new money ala City, Chelsea (not as much as they were), PSG & Monaco, have only attracted top-class players because of it - not because of the club or its history. United payin top wages is a sweetner & once they come here they tend to stay for as long as they can. If we want to compete with Real & Barca, then we've gotta compete in the wage area & thats a sickner of course, because both those clubs get bankrolled by numerous local institutions - so thats against FFP also..
