Has he shagged Cathy or something cuz i can't remember the last game he played for us!!

:lol::wenger:

He started in arguably our most important game of the season against Madrid on March 5th, and then again against Chelsea on March 10th and April 1st in the FA Cup Quarter Finals. Don't let facts get in the way though.

His season started about a month before the rest of the squad. He started 40 games for club and country by March, more than he has in any season previously, and at a much higher standard than he has played at before.

I'd be amazed if he hasn't been working on his strength and fitness with the aim of him being more able to last the distance next season. He's undoubtedly first choice to partner Carrick, IMO.

So after 2 months break essentially (which is less than a lot of international players get during tournament season) you think he's still too tired to play.

Poor little lamb.

April 1st - Arpil 28th = 2 months?

feck off you inbred little retard.

I'm with Rowem on this, I don't get your deal IrishLegend.

Edit: You also seem to keep forgetting Cleverley's consistent injuries over the past however many seasons. It's right to give Cleverley a break and get him fresh for next season.

Maybe you'd like him to suffer the same problems Jack Wilshere has been over and over again.

He's played 40 games this season?!

Well, then he should rest and not play more. Would be stupid to play him when there's no need, let him focus on next season.

What a lovely fellow you are.

I said earlier in the quote I was referring to the league. He's hardly played for two months and you can't deny that.

But no rather than reason and logic, you resort to calling people inbred and retards. What a classy individual you truly are.

Seems like SAF is bringing him down a peg or two, kind of similar to De Gea's rotation and Rafael being benched behind Smalling and Jones at times last season. SAF likes to take young players out of the firing line.

Either Fergie is protecting him because of his previous injuries or either he called SAF old senile fat prick. There is no other thing coming in my mind why he has played only 20 minutes in EPL in two months.

Then why don't you say that instead of being rude and insulting? Internet tough guy.

You start with the sarcastic attitude and then have the audacity to take the moral highground when I call you out for being an idiotic retard? Did you just read the Idiots Guide To Scoring Points On The Internet?

And even more worthy of a few :lol::lol::lol:s you accuse me of not using reason and logic? fecking hell! Smooth. You're now an Intermediate Internet Arguer.

You show much promise. In a couple years you could reach the epic levels of such esteemed posters as Scholesy or devilish.

He's not even young anymore though. He's turning 24 this summer, at this age he should be pushing for a spot. Don't think he'll ever be good enough to be considered first choice here, but as it stands he should be because apart from Carrick we have nobody who is good enough that should be starting for us in midfield.

My post: asking why Tom hasn't been played?
You: Suggest he's burn out
My post: explains why I don't think he's burnt out
You: Retard + Inbred.

You should go join RAWK.

Edit: If you meant the inbred / retard thing as a joke. Then fine, It just wasn't funny.

Miss him being in the team, we're a lot more fluid, and quicker getting the ball from defence to attack with him around.

You didn't explain anything. I pointed out actual facts. I used reason and logic. You responded with an inaccurate statement about him not starting for two months, ignored all reasons and facts presented to you, and then you made a deliberately antagonistic sarcastic and inane comment.

Wake up.

So you honestly think not starting a league game for going on two months isn't sufficient rest to carry on playing?

Edit: Again, we were talking about league games which was entirely accurate.

What does it matter if he's started in 3 of our biggest games of the season in the meantime?

It's not about being able to play. It's about being able to play at full potential. It's about avoiding injury. It's about improving his fitness in the gym. The fitter he gets, the less his standard will drop when he accumulates more appearances.

His season also started a month before most of the squad. It's expected he would tire a month or so before others.

I think you've just confused Revan and Rowem.

I'm definitely surprised at Cleverley's lack of game time recently. Don't think it's anything to panic about but it's very strange considering how much of a fixture he was alongside Carrick for most of the season.

Every game till we won the league was important, why hasn't he started in a league game since feb, you still haven't answered me.

Avoiding Injury? We have 3 games to go to the end of the season, whats the injury risk of playing a young talented midfielder who needs first team experience with the end of season break coming up? What better way to prepare him for the rigors of a full season as a first team member than letting him play (albeit after a 2 month break). I don't see Evra or Carrick complaining or their performances suffering, quite the opposite.

According to the source of all wisdom and knowledge that is wikipedia, he's played 30 games (up till april) this year (not started, played), Compared to Rafa who is younger and Carrick who is much older, how do you justify your argument?

His season started before everyone elses? Come on.

Probably.

I am on about 3 hour of sleep. Birthday shenanigans and reading internet forum posts with very similar names don't go hand in hand.

Edit: There all cnut's ;)

Yeah my bad man, no insult intended.

I'm in grumpy cnut mode.

May I suggest more alcohol?

As for Cleverley, I don't think it's anything to worry over that he hasn't seen much game time recently. I'm sure he'll get a sub/start soon.
It's all about progress, he's made so much this season that when we don't see it for a while, it can seem confusing why he's not been giving the chance.
He'll make even more progress next season I'd say.

Yes. There was this big event in the summer of 2012 where loads of countries sent loads of their best athletes and sportsmen to London in order to compete against each other. It's called the Olympics, and I think I read somewhere it takes place every four years.

And the Euro's too. He played in that I heard.

I could've sworn there was another big sporting event that summer..

Cleverley didn't play in the Euros, did he? And I don't think any players were allowed to play in both competitions.

I don't buy the 'burnt out' or 'personal problems' stuff. Either might possibly explain a week or two week break .......... but two months?

He's either pissed the manager off, or Fergie has simply concluded he's not quite good enough (yet), and trusts others more for the vital run-in.

If he's not played in the next 3 games, it's surely got to be a discipline issue?

Can anyone remember something similar rest to another player? I do remember Fergie gave Ronaldo a three week break at the start of his time at United (around january 04), that is the only longer rest I can think of.

I think the tiredness would have played a factor initially, but it's also a combination of other factors, trying to fit Rooney in and play Kagawa centrally, the form/Fergies trust in Giggs, and Fergie's belief in Jones. It's all played a part. The one thing I've been surprised by is the lack of sub time recently but then that's not just Clev. We've not really taken much opportunity to rotate the core of the team often, if you look at RVP and Valencia they've played a lot of 90 mins even when we've been comfortable or they've not been at their best, at the expense of Hernandez, Nani etc as well as Clev.

He was injured for the Euros, no ?

So played the Olympics instead.
No, he wasn't picked for the Euros. He returned in February last year, played very well on his first game back, then played reserve football for the rest of the season, not even making the matchday squad for the crunch game at the Etihad (a game he really should have been starting, if we're honest).

I think the Wigan game last season in april ruined it for him, he was shocking and subbed after 45 mins, after that he only started against Swansea.

I'm convinced you've made that up. The way I remember it he was subbed on either at half time or in the 2nd half because we were so shit and he played very well.

He also came off the bench against Swansea.

Oh, had the wrong stats there. It was Young who was subbed for Clev against Wigan. Transfermarkt is usually correct. So he never started a PL game after the Everton away one.

Has he been on the bench in every PL game since the last start in February?
Even more bizarre is Anderson hasn't been making the bench, and yet today he gets the nod to be subbed on at the Emirates. The way we manage our squad is rather haphazard to say the least.

Did Anderson not need the appearance to get a medal?
