had the nerve to compare himself to spanish players and question our understanding of hid role in the team.. that pass to begin second half sums him up to me.

Henderson was awful too until he was managed correct.

give it a rest. cleverley got chances here under ferguson and was carried along by his team mates. one good game every ten isnt good enough for united. needs to go.

He was 22/23. He needs coaching! This manager still seems fit enough to start him.

Very disappointed in him tonight.

Looked incredibly one footed, every pass was a yard behind the man when it should have been a yard in front. His running was pointless... playing a pass and running forwards behind a wave of red shirts when he should be making angles to give the receiver options. No bite in the challenge and far too stand offish in our half allowing them the ball with time and space.

Hard to imagine how a player who played/trained and was coached by Paul Scholes is so deficient in so many of these basic areas. Never been able to make my mind on him, he''s worked very hard even to get to the fringes of our 1st 11 and can look good on occasions (though with good players playing around him) but tonight I thought he was the worst on the park... and that was a tightly fought contest.

look at the players around europe his age. the talent some have is like men vs a boy. hes not good enough for united. if he was irish, hed be sold already, just like gibson who in my opinion was probably better and certainly contributed more.

Both himself and Carrick looked geriatric tonight. Is it harsh to suggest he hid a bit? Certainly didn't look to assume responsibility out there but difficult to separate his individual performance from the shit around him.

Would all of you stop destroying the players? Open your eyes and blame the man who's supposed to inspire them and coach them to victory! It's a disgrace that our fans our turning against the players. I can't believe it.

Classic Clev today. Doesn't hold his position, when he did come short he promptly gave it straight back and then ran somewhere, where to make the pass would have required either a great pass or the opposition to cock up. He wasn't helped by Rooney too having a poor one and the fact that the few times he did stay short long enough there was no one coming short to help him and Carrick get the ball forward. Honestly, if he just held his position like against Arsenal that would be fine. There'd still be creative issues but we'd look much more solid for it. When he plays like this he offers nothing in attack and leaves us more open to counters.

Cleverley is terrible. He's nowhere near good enough. And considering that he thinks what he does would be applauded in other countries, he obviously hasn't got the brain and/or mentality to actually improve.

Err that's what I'm saying. He's even beneath Championship level now. 3rd division more like.

Hahaha. I originally posted League 1 but I decided to be generous. Maybe I was wrong. There probably are better CM's in League 1.

So a manager who brought through the best midfielder English football has seen in decades couldn't get anything out of him but its on Moyes' head that he is still a nothing player? I love the Cafe.

This might be the final nail in his confidence. Provides feck all in a 2 man midfield and should be nowhere near our first team.

I just hate the way he bounds towards players in tight areas, yelling with his arms outstretched as if he's come up with some masterful plan to get us out of a tricky situation and progress us down the pitch. In reality, he runs until he's stood next to his team-mate (brings an opposition player over in the process), gives it him back and then runs off. Baffles me.

Who? Name these centre midfielder around his age that are blowing him out of the water? I'm not talking about exceptional talents like Pogba (Man he actually use to play here:wenger:). We know what he is and he is a far better player than this dross he is producing.

You seem to be under the impression Cleverley is particularly young. He's 24.

Midfielders better than him around the same age: Koke, Herrera, Kroos, Gundogan, Matic, Ramsey, Wilshere, Henderson, McCarthy, Carvalho, Illaramendi, Martinez, Thiago, Sven Bender, Lars Bender, Verratti, Strootman, Pjanic....

and they're just the obvious ones!

edit: Also Nainggolan/Busquets

Why not name exceptional talents? Is that not what we should be looking at with a team like Man Utd? Or should we satisfy for the average players. Thiago at Bayern, Ramsey before his injury, Busquets is only a year older, Gundogan is another. It could go on, but there's players at top clubs who are far far better. Even if you drop a few standard I'd argue people like Jordan Henderson and the like show Cleverley up.

I've made my feelings clear on him before and I just feel he's no where near good enough for United. He just pisses me off with how he is, it's all well and good he comes out and gives these interviews saying he needs to improve but hen ever actually does it! I kind of feel sorry for him, he doesn't ask to get picked but when he does he just bottles it and shies away from any kind of ballsy performance when we need him.. He'd be a useful squad player at best and I'm not even sure he's that good to be honest.

Moyes is such a pointless manager who makes good players look bad.

So true it's worth repeating

I'd like to see him under a decent manager for us rather than writing him off just yet. He was unquestionably shocking but I think he's better than what he is showing so far. He played well for us against Arsenal away and could still be a good squad player.

Tbf that was most likely from the top of his head. If you sat down and thought you could probably think of 50 at least.

Very nice. Now send that to David Moyes and ask him why we only managed to get Fellaini. Who didnt even play today.

Tbf that was most likely from the top of his head. If you sat down and thought you could probably think of 50 at least.

Exactly. These were just the players I could recall in 2 mins and some of our transfer targets. A wiser man would far exceed the list.

Should sign no.38 on the list and make him the new captain. Blind leading the blind.

We can carry him as a squad player but not with other massive weaknesses in the same team. I'd feel sorry for Moyes having to call on this calibre of player for a big game but its his own fault for not going out and signing competent players.

We should offload Tom when Powell comes back

There are 3 individuals who are just not MUQ.

1. Moyes
2. Cleverley
3. Young

4. Valencia
5. Buttner
6. Fellaini

And several that were once but definitely are not anymore:

7. Rio
8. Evra
9. Giggs

In fact, I would argue that only five players in the entire squad are 'United quality' though there are a handful that would make useful squad players.

Cleverley will play in 3-4 seasons in the Championship......he's lucky that a club like Aston Villa will give hime a chance in the Premier League

It's so funny that he's asking always for the ball with his hands and then he plays the ball back to the same player
