Cesc: "I have seen youngsters like Jack Wilshere, Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck play and they have got talent," he said.

"That's the thing England have been missing over the years - talent. They have got a great group of boys with amazing talent and they have to take advantage of that."

Bound to be a bit of a confidence boost for Tom since some of our fans are doing everything in their power to lower it.

It's noteworthy that Cleverley doesn't get the same - "Oh, but he would look better alongside other passing players, our current system doesn't suit him" - kind of defense that Kagawa receives on here.

Cleverley is about running and movement, and he needs to be in side based on running and movement, two things sadly lacking in our recent seasons.

Not sure quite everyone has noticed he's 24. Worth keeping in the squad, but I can't see him suddenly transforming into a true first choice.

I'm late to this as I don't care much about hm but, I just read he set up a brand called "TC23"......This cannot be true.

Is it?
Wouldn't surprise me at all. He's got an air of "I've made it already" about him, imo.

Yeah....I know he's become an "easy target" so to speak but I wasn't impressed with his interview the other day.

"Haha ah the abuse comes with the territory"

No Tom....No it does not. Forlan went nearly a year without scoring. But no one ever gave him the level of abuse you get! Forlan busted his arse trying to change his fortune and the fans appreciated it and supported him....I genuinely don't know what Cleverley has done since that Bolton game in 2011....It's now 2014. What happened him?

And it's not about going about his "job" and being unnoticed as he's not glamorous!! Carrick done shag all last year that was eye catching and glamorous but he was still brilliant and got the praise he deserved

Couldn't agree more. I hope he can turn it around and actually make it big and not just think he's made it. But it's hard to actually see it happen.

Cleverley has come in for criticism for launching his own TC23 clothing range without having had the career to justify it.

But he insisted: “That wasn’t right, it was something I was doing for charity. It does annoy me a bit when people say I’m getting ahead of myself.

“I have my feet on the floor and I’ve always tried to stay grounded. I got a day off on Saturday and just went back to my mum’s in Bradford.

“Every morning I wake up and think how lucky I am to be playing for the team which all my boyhood heroes played for and for my country. I’m really proud of that.”

I don't see what he does in his free time is anyone's business anyway.

I'm nosey like that!

Personally, I hate this whole "brand" crap footballers launch.....Bale, Rio, etc etc. It's a pet peeve of mine.

Fair enough if it's for charity. All well and good. If it wasn't, and he was launching brands and turning in crap performances for us, it would irritate the shit out of me

Don't hate the playa', hate the game.

Would you hate it if he was doing something else though? Maybe he has a passion for fashion and always wanted to do something in that area. Footballers don't just think about football 100% of the time as you don't think about your job 100% of the time. They have interests and hobbies and will get involved in activities outside football. If it is somehow affecting his footballing productivity the manager will have a word with him. Otherwise how footballers get criticized for expanding into other investments is just stupid imo. If he was attending university classes or of that field I doubt he would be getting the same criticism.

Thats your take on it, fair enough. I understand where you are coming from but I've seen it all too many times with footballers getting distracted with their fashion and brand labels outside of football. They let it affect their performances and so on. Plenty of time for all that when you're in the twilight of your career imo

I wear TC23 underwear at night... That way I can always do it on wet Tuesdays in Stoke

Stop hating... He's just dipping his feet in different markets.. You'd do the same. Bet you drink Diddy's Ciroc.. he hasn't made a good album since yester-year.

This United side is pretty boring to watch but he is one of the most boring players i think i have ever seen. So predictable.

Shocking. Fellaini would've been murdered for that performance. Has a defensive presence similar to that of Buttner.

Expected more from him. Carrick's our only central midfielder out there. Come on, Cleverley!

Well it would fecking help Cleverley if Carrick wasn't playing almost as a 3rd CB. As it is he is highly isolated in the middle.

He is pointless going forward. He can't defend well. The only thing he is good at is keeping things ticking. Whether it is beautiful possession play or a tide of rancid shit.

He only tends to play well when the team do well and aren't under pressure. As it is, we are playing in a hostile atmosphere and struggling against the opposition. No surprise that he's invisible.

Hope he never pulls on the United shirt again. After losing the ball he made zero effort to get back absolutely none. I was screaming at the TV for him to at least to run but, nah he'll just walk back.

Yes, I am pissed after that performance but, surely this was yet another of umpteen chances for him to at least show some heart and he showed none. Doing it every 5 or 6 games just is not good enough.

I've got it sussed with Tom. All Moyes needs to do is convince him that the goals actually mark the sides of the pitch and he'll actually play some of his passes forwards.

Too convincing of a point that needs to be repeated three times and counting, Chief.

It's funny how back in May/June/whenever he was announced, I thought that Moyes has the ability to turn our CMs into world-class players. Hah.

Very poor today and he offered little, but no worse than Carrick and again I see him in acres of space screaming for the ball only to get overlooked in favour of a ball so close to the touchline I could fart on it and it would go out for a throw.

Also, whenever him or Carrick picked the ball up anywhere near the half-way line, there was absolutely nothing on apart from a short ball out wide.
