No news from United, so physioroom don't have a clue. :)

Didn't he withdraw from the England squad for the Spain and Sweden games due to injury? Pretty frustrating when you consider Fergie said he was only withdrawn from the Everton game as a precaution.

He wasn't called up for the Internationals - he'd only just come back from injury.

Fergie says Cleverley out til Christmas. "His injury is worse than first feared. It's unfortunate."

why did we rush him back for the aldershot and everton match, worsen his injury further? :(

Who would have thought that Tom will get so important for our midfield before the new season

Christ on a bike. Says a lot that everyone is so pissed off he'll be out injured again. Fergie should pull the finger out and buy in January.

Our midfield is going to continue to be depressingly bad without Cleverley :(

he is too stubborn to buy a central midfielder, its ridiculous we need a young kid to save our midfield.

Yeah just look at the reactions. This is not right for our club to not have better options.

As my American friend says, we are like a donut... with a hole in the middle ;).

And who would we get? It is not worth buying if we dont get the players that really improve our midfield

Our world class medical team come up trumps again.

More than disappointing. Hopefully this will force Ravvers into the team.

Nah, I'm still of the belief that he wants one but he will wait for the one he thinks is best for the team, whomever that will be. So basically buying one in the January transfer window is unlikely.

Cleverley and injuries are hardly a surprise, he's not used to this sort of tempo and number of PL matches at once, it was bound to happen, maybe just not to this extent.

I'm sure there is atleast one player in the world who we could have signed in the Summer and would have improved our midfield. It's quite ridiculous that we continue to neglect central midfield when it comes to transfer windows.

I agree when talking about the summer window - however, its a bit different for winter. Fergie should have addressed that some time ago, but I am against buying someone just for the sake of it

But the longer he goes without buying a midfielder the more he'll have to take that into consideration. Think of all the talented midfielders that were snapped up this Summer that could definitely have improved us.

It's terrible that we're so reliant on Cleverley, a young lad who is in his first season with us. The midfield can't fecking function without him in it.

Most players are not really available in January

Not as many players but that's a bit overboard. Teams not buying in January is more so because the players don't have any time to settle in as opposed to the Summer.

There's a few ways of looking at it I guess, usually I'm against January purchases but this is a little more urgent than usual don't you think?

When it became clear we were not signing any midfielders he became the obvious target to draw the label of savior. Carrick, Fletcher and Park are known quantities and aren't exactly going to set the world alight. Anderson has been inconsistent for years and there was never any sign of it changing...and Gibson. Well, aside for his rockets i doubt most fans really expected him to do much.

So that only left Cleverley and in the future Pogba and Morrison.

The fact we look to kids just shows how average our midfield is...there really isn't anyone in the squad like a Keane, who we know will put in a commanding performance week after week.

The top players play in the CL currently and fight for titles - its hard to get them in January and I wouldnt expect a big signing. Summer was the window to buy, it didnt happen

It is, but again, who? Who is there who would really improve us and who would be available as well for the CL?

We would have bought a midfielder long ago if we really wanted. I think he is happy with our current squad and will keep it that way until Carrick either leaves or retires (as Giggs is pretty much certain to go at the end of season I think).

You never know until you bid though, which Fergie hasn't done at all. Who's to say we couldn't get a Martinez or M'Vila in January if we made a good bid for them? No point saying we won't get them unless we actually try to.
