Waste of money. Sign De Ligt for a fraction and move on to more important matters.
I’d be fine with it but dealing with Spurs is asking for trouble and we need to improve other areas of the team more.
Agreed. The price is destined to be hyper inflated for a position that isn't a top a priority. That's why it makes more sense to get a cheaper alternative and spend more on a FB, CM, and attacker.

Anyone who thinks he will actually cost 75m is deluded.
Yes Levy is a pain in the ass to negotiate with, but know Toby can go for 25m next summer, knows other targets are available, and can be told, "OK, well we'll just go activate Untiti's release clause"
40-50m would (eventually) get the deal done.
Exactly, Levy is a stubborn prick but 45M is better than 20M next season.
Yup.Waste of money. Sign De Ligt for a fraction and move on to more important matters.

Surely we won't be paying £50m+ for him if it's true that we are interested. We should have just gone for Van Dijk when he was available.
Would be more overpaying, what do our scouts actually do?
Also for the Alderweireld experts, is he weak in the air? Statistically doesn't win much compared to other centre backs.
Gotta love Daniel Levy, he always squeezes every penny. Toby ain't nowhere near that price.
I get that and he's doing the best for his club. He's mental if he thinks he can get £75 for him though. Spurs are not in a position of strength on this transfer. He's not signing a new contract, he'll be leaving to a new club this summer.I don't blame him for squeezing potential suitors. He knows that Spurs won't be a serious club if they easily lose their top talent each summer.
I doubt they're interested in Shaw. Will be Martial or bust from them and if it is true that Levy really is asking for this much, he's probably hoping to negotiate it to some sort of swap deal. Can't see us going for it and deal should be done for £40M at the most. Anything more than that would be a rip off.Don’t think it’ll be 75 mil but if true wouldn’t that take our spending on CB’s up to around 150 mil. That’s a lot of money when hopefully we’ll add a RB. Probably a LB as well.
I would think more realistically that will come down to somewhere between 50-60 mil and wouldn’t be surprised if there is some sort of deal where Shaw or Martial go there, which would be kinda worrying if they then add DeLigt to the team they have already. He looked great in the Europa against us.
Especially since he's been frozen out of the team completely. Not like they seem all that keen to keep him in the first place.
Rose is also supposedly set to leave this summer so maybe Shaw would be of intrest. Poch has worked with him before and probably got the best out of him.I doubt they're interested in Shaw. It's worded as Tottenham asking, not the package of the deal or anything. Hope we play along but never strike the deal leading Tottenham on a goose chase. Why are we falling for this media trick again? That figure is without question including wages . They just love bumping the sum for clicks
Just adding my view on Smalling to your post, not meant to be a rebutal to your point.Yes. He'd likely be paired with Smalling though, who is fairly good in that regard.
We will get him for 40m, 45m max. He is 30 ffs.
Wouldn't wanna look for another replacement in 2 years when he's 35.We will get him for 40m, 45m max. He is 30 ffs.

Smalling is terrible at focusing on his man and not falling behind (ending up losing his man and trying to get back control by using his arms) during free-kicks & corners though.
By all means he's good when he challenges the striker for a ball higher up on the pitch as he's a beast physically and is either likely to win or likely to make a recovery with his speed, so he'd be a great partner in normal play.
