Sign him up.
I don’t think you have to worry about us selling a player to Chelsea lol. While I don’t want us to I think there is more of a chance of him ending up at United than that lot down the road, I’d like to think Martial could be the key if Toby ends up with you next season.
If we had Alderweireld, we win yesterday's game.
Would he have magically made us score then?
We could have played for three hours straight and we wouldn’t have scored.
He may have stopped us losing yesterday, but he wouldn’t have made a blind bit of difference up the other end of the pitch.
I think Rojo has just signed a new deal so he is going nowhere anytime soon. You're right, Smalling is in very good form at the moment. But, he's a painfully average on the ball. Plus, in terms of age it makes sense to sell him over any of our other CB's. He'll be 29 later this year and his game is heavily reliant on pace, so I can't see him keeping his level well into his 30's.
Well, tbh as a pure CB I'd personally sell Rojo over Smalling. Smalling is the better defender and is much better in the air (both offensively and defensively). However Rojo, who's only a few months younger, can also cover at LB. We'd also likely command a larger fee for Smalling than Rojo, due to the price of British players in England.
And yes, I'd partner Toby with Bailly.
Or Salah. If we had Alderweireld, we win yesterday's game.
Aye. Despite the fact we couldn't score a goal it's a CB who'd have made all the difference. If we had Alderweireld, we win yesterday's game.
That’s too thin, I think, given their injury records. Maybe with TFM and maybe Tuanzabe coming back, that might just be enough. We’ve had centerbacks laid up for a long time over the past few years. It’s so bad we don’t even have a first choice pairing. Mourinho has had to select on fitness as much as anything.I was on the fence about whether we needed a new CB but yesterday was the last straw for me. Sell Jones (while he's fit, strike while the iron's hot), loan out Lindelof.
Alderweireld, Smalling, Bailly, Rojo.
We need Smalling and Rojo gone. About time we were ruthless. Nether are good enough with the ball.I was on the fence about whether we needed a new CB but yesterday was the last straw for me. Sell Jones (while he's fit, strike while the iron's hot), loan out Lindelof.

Hmm. Not sure about that, but Alderweireld possesses something we're missing at times at centre half: pace.
We can't defend high up the pitch because of the lack of pace at the back and when the centre halves did push up, we got punished.
Your joking right? Toby is a very good defender but one thing he doesn’t have is pace. I’d say all your CBs baring Jones are faster than him.

That's good enough.. Seeing as Jones aint no slouch.
I thought Jones had lost a lot of his pace due to his injuries? Tony isn’t fast he is a positional defender, reads the game well.
He's definitely what we need, we have no intelligent defenders. The only one with any sense is Blind but Jose doesn't seem to rate him.
Agreed. Pace is the only thing I can see that Toby lacks. He probably has similar pace to Jones and Rojo. So not slow, but not particularly quick either.Well then he fits your bill, he is a great defender he just isn’t pacey

Yeah, those two are both a tier or two above the others when it comes to speed. Smalling's probably a bit faster top speed, Bailly more explosive acceleration off the spot. Jones and Rojo are decently fast, with Lindelof probably a bit below average.I thought Smalling and Bailey were pretty rapid in CB terms?
They are, so Toby alongside either of them makes for a very decent combination (on paper anyway).I thought Smalling and Bailey were pretty rapid in CB terms?
I think the only way United get him is if you let us have Martial.
Don't think so, given the fact that Pochettino has pretty much resigned himself to selling Alderweireld, so he will be leaving. The question is which other club will be signing him and for how much. Since Spurs are extremely keen on signing De Ligt who will cost at minimum £55m, makes sense for them to sell a wantaway player.
The problem is unlike with Davinson Sanchez, they probably can't afford to dawdle with De Ligt since there is a greater damand for him.

Oh we will definitely sell him but I think it will be to Spain. I can't see us strengthening another PL club. United are the only option in the PL so if we were to sell him we'd want Martial in return. That is the only way I can see a deal being done.
We seem to have a pretty good relationship with Ajax, hopefully that will help with De Ligt.
That's just wishful thinking though. Martial wants a central role which you can't even provide.Oh we will definitely sell him but I think it will be to Spain. I just can't see Levy sanctioning and doing a deal where we lose Alderweireld and strengthen a rival. It would be crazy from our POV. If we did I'd be shocked and angry.

Yeah I think Spurs have a great chance of getting De Ligt. Might have to match City's rumoured bid though.
One thing I can say for Ajax players, well most, they have their head screwed on. Like Sanchéz knew if De Ligt goes to Barca or indeed City there is no way they get a sniff at any real first team football. When Toby moves on we have only Verts and Sanchez as really first team ready CBs with Dier as an option.
De Ligt is a notch above Sanchez though and I don't remember any of the other big clubs being significantly interested in Sanchez last summer which is why Spurs could wait to sign him until mid August.
Barca would prefer not to sign De Ligt this summer though.
You can keep dreaming if you think we will let Martial go less than 70m to any of our rivals. Moreover Son or Eriksen whoever plays on your left is much better and he will end up having same issues as here. Not even considering the fact that he prefers a central role.Oh we will definitely sell him but I think it will be to Spain. I can't see us strengthening another PL club. Will tell you whats going to happen. Like Walker, you will sell him to 5-10 m more than whats reported to clubs outside of EPL.
I rate his potential but Jose doesnt and we are resigned to lose him.You don’t rate Martial?

There has to be a middle ground for sure. It cannot be one or other. Young players will be inconsistent and it's the managers job to make it happen . There is a reason why Monaco kept a Ballon Dor clause . So if this the case with an established young player and with so many talented kids coming through our ranks , I would really be concerned.Where do you stand on the Jose situation, there seems to be players like Shaw, Rashford and Martial where some fans would rather keep them and lose Jose. While some would rather go the Jose way.
