Toby Alderweireld | Times: Spurs willing to sell due to Alderweireld's demands for £150k/week

Far from impossible, and with the TV deal it's harder to sell abroad for anywhere near the same amount. Do you reckon United would be willing to spend 75m on a 29 year old?
That's my point, the best offers are likely to come from other English teams and if your board thinks they can get a cheaper replacement then they'll sell. And yeah, think United would do that if we decide he's the player we need in our defence.

Wouldn't be about getting a cheaper replacement though, but about getting a good fee or 25m if reports are to be believed a year later. This is only if he does want to leave, which is still not certain.

Personally I'd just keep him for another 18 months and let him leave for free. We signed him cheap anyway and it guarantees us a world class CB until that time. He'll be nearly 31 by the time he then leaves and we'd have had his best years..

That's what I would do as well if I were Spurs.
18 months is a very long time in football, and there is a lot of service that player can give to them in that time.
As Spurs signed him on the cheap it isn't as though they are losing a major investment, which is an entirely different situation to Sanchez at Arsenal, where they desperately had to recoup some of their investment.

Well, the player would be getting his fat cheque without playing. All he has to do is show up in training and under perform in games. Players have all the power these days. Heck we have players in our under-19 squad getting paid more than him at the moment. Spurs need to pay up or risk losing a lot more than Toby.

I think Utd will go for him, along with Kane. We got the money and Levy is a sucker for a good deal.

Lets buy Eriksen too.Levy will probably just ask for 400-500 million, pocket change for Woody !

I want him at United. But the problem I have is, we'll be dealing with Daniel Levy.

He's the best centre back in the league, I'd love him at United. His calmness and experience, as well as his passing ability, would make him pretty much the perfect partner for Bailly.

The main idea here would probably be to fetch Levy from Tottenham, then let him deal with the players after that.

I wonder where this myth that Levy wants to sell his best players comes from.
It's crazy - if anything I see Levy as the biggest stumbling block when fantasizing about getting Spurs best players. That being said, I imagine Aldeweireld would be obtainable, and we should do everything we can to get him.

Why cant we sign players like Alderweild and Eriksen when they are quality together at Ajax not when Levy has them

Because apparently the only way for success now is to spend £200m each season and buy superstar players or players who are in their peak, since Mourinho can only use and trust experienced players.

Would suit you guys perfectly, I would say he could be sold this summer unless he signs a new deal, £40-50M would be good business for us.

If we sign him in the summer it won't be for 40-50m if he has a release clause for 25m. Personally, I think signing him would be good business for us. He's a hell of a player...

Players like Bailly and Lindelof you mean?

Bailly is awesome and I love him, but Lindelof is the definition of a young player not being trusted.

that's the risk of trusting non experienced players from lets say Portugal and Holland. For every Ronaldo and Erikson you get a horde of Blinds, Depays and Lindelofs.

Your criticism to Mourinho is unwarranted. He had done 7 signings so far, 4 of which came from significantly smaller sides (Everton, Benfica, Dortmund and Villareal)

Lindelof wasn't a cheap signing like Blind and hasn't been given the chances Depay has to be labeled a flop. There is so much more Mourinho can do with the current players if he was more tactically flexible. For example, I don't see why the Swede isn't tried in a similar position to the one Dier plays for Spurs.

30m is considered cheap by today standards. Its at par to what Everton paid Burnley for our former reserve. I think Lindelof will come good eventually. However, he needs time and someone with brains to act as his CB partner.

He won't have a release clause of any type in the summer. In the summer he'll still have 1 year left on his current contract, plus an optional 1 year extension, triggered at the club's discretion.

We should poach Levy

Levy owns just over 25% of Spurs (technically he owns 29% of ENIC Group who own 85% of Spurs, but that's the point) so he'd have to divest, etc. And he grew up a Spurs fan as a child. Say what you want about Levy (and plenty have, Spurs fans and non-Spurs fans) but he's at the club he's loved his whole life and I can't really see a scenario where doesn't stay on as chairman until he retires.

Maybe I misunderstood it. I thought that the 25m release clause comes into effect in the summer if he doesn't sign a new contract...

I hope he does, always liked him.

Eriksen and Alderweireld went to Spurs because they wanted game time and a comfortable environment to develop. They weren't as good as they are when they first came.

Well, he has a history of selling, doesn't he? Do you want me to remind you a few names?

One chap who went to R Madrid, was he not your best player?

Mute point. Lukaku can be sold. Even better, we can swap him with Kane. Straight swap, no money involved.
 You're joking? No one in the right mind will straight swap Kane with Lukaku when the former is twice the player. And good luck trying to sell Lukaku and getting a profit.

Could say the same to you with a certain Portuguese player.

Levy does his best to keep players, but once a player has said he wants out he will wrangle every penny he can.
