Interesting that out of all the players which has been left out for the Swedish trip, he has only bothered to explain the absences of Smalling and Fosu Mensah, certainly indicates to me that he's very much in first squad picture.

Definitely. Rory Smith said in the Times today he won't leave on loan as he'll be in and around the first team squad and Mourinho was quick to tell him how much he rates him when he first joined.

Realistically, they won't get regular game time. Pereira has too many players infront of them and Mensah hasn't even got a firm position yet.

Loaning them out is a great move. Likewise Borthwick-Jackson. They'll get proper football at good clubs (ideally) instead of pissing around in England's pathetic excuse of an U21 set up.

Not loaning players out soon enough has been one of my biggest issues with the club over the past few years. We had players like Tom Thorpe that were almost 22 and had barely notched up 20 professional games of football. We can't let that happen to this next crop.
You say they have got too many players ahead of them but surely there is a way around this. If you look at our midfield we have too many players that you just know can't take us forward so if we get Pogba, we should look at offloading Fellaini and Schweinsteiger to create space in terms of wages and squad options. That would leave us with Pogba, Carrick, Schneiderlin and Herrera as our four midfielders for two positions meaning TFM and Pereira can take the two squad roles as third back ups.
With the Europa and the CoC we have enough games to blood them in if the manager really wanted to. Not playing Pogba has turned out to be a hundred million pound mistake, lets not repeat it whilst in the midst of rectifying the first one. These kids have the talent to grow into world class players - of the kind the biggest clubs need and pay huge sums for - whilst the likes of Herrera, Fellaini and Schneiderlin are journeymen types and Bastien and Carrick are on the way out.

I actually think the “little thingy” Mourinho was referring is Fosu-Mensah's new contract. The manager is playing hardball with him. Sign or else… The denial by his agent just confirms it.
What? :wenger:
Or the little thing is just exactly the little thing that he is young and there's no need to rush him back on the field.

Fosu retweeted about 7 tweets last night of fans looking to buy the new kit with 24 Fosu-Mensah on the back, so I reckon it adds further stock to him being assured of staying.

I don't think TFM will be sold. He has too much potential... he's just been dropped to give him a bit of a nudge that he hasn't made it yet and needs to start working even harder to reach that potential. It's all about attitude and application now for the lad.

I find it hard to believe that people dont understand that 'this little thing' is a type of injury that the medical team wants to be careful with. We heard Fergie talk about the same thing with Welbeck, and they dont want to strain / aggrivate those types of injuries in young players as they can become a much bigger problem when they age.

It's not an injury or an injury concern though.

I still don't understand why people are so keen to loan people out. We have always had more success by playing the kids in our squad rather than shipping them into different managers. How many of our best goth players have ever benefited that much from the loan system. Then I look at clubs like Chelsea where their whole youth system is on loan and none of those players ever make it to the first team. The loan system simply doesn't work in my opinion and we need to keep the youngsters in our squad. If they are good enough they are old enough.

How on earth did you reach that conclusion? TFM saying he's recovering, Mourinho saying what he said.

By reading between the lines of what Mourinho said accompanied with other info from a chat with a mate.

According to the Time Mourinho has told him he's part of the first team squad plans for this season.

None of our young potentials are getting sold. Why are posters confusing loan with sale?

No one knows for sure how long is his current contract and he hasn't signed a new one. The club has to sugarcoat a bit to convince him. That's what's happening.

Seems to be an over reaction going on with a few posters. Petty digs at Jose and turning the lad is injured, into he's been dropped and sold.
So odd that they seem to be anticipating lots if negative things.

Jose will keep him and try to develop him just to prove hecan develop youngsters but I doubt he will play much in the 1st team. At best he will be subbed in in the 89th minute in most games

The article did exactly what is was supposed to do. Even if it wasn't telling the whole truth, it lumped a bunch of players in to one category and caused a good 48 hours of hysteria. Timmy's agent quickly coming out and pouring hot piss all over the tabloids who ran with this story was a good move.

It's not an injury or an injury concern though.
Yes it is, he got injured towards the end of last season which meant he had to pull out of the Netherlands squad and he was back in training before most of the other players working with the physio, he tweaked the injury in training in China which is why he wasn't on the bench against Dortmund, Mourinho saying it's a little thing is because it's not a bad injury but they are being careful with it so that it doesn't become a bigger problem.

Ok mate... respect your opinion but my info is a little different and the stuff we read is maybe not always gospel.

He's got a lot of potential, I don't know how it can be denied. I would much rather use him as our #6 than Schneiderlin/Blind/New player. I think Blind and Pogba should play just ahead of him.

Tfm-Pogba midfield. :drool::drool::drool:

Delighted to hear about the new deal!

Both articles are saying he is likely to be a right back (understudy to Valencia)

Not sure that's where he is best, but I'm delighted he will be part of our first team plans. I thought he'd be loaned out, which would've sucked

Agree that RB seems an odd fit to me.

I hope he isnt stuck behind both Valencia and Darmian

Looking forward to Mourinho's comments when this is officially announced. Hopefully reveals where he plans on playing him and if he sees his long term future in the same position.

I agree.

Darmian really annoyed me with his last injury of last season. Where he signalled to be subbed off the second he touched the floor.

If I were a United player and had his injury riddled season, I'd try staying on that pitch to prove myself until they had to drag me away
