Tiemoue Bakayoko

Fellaini has his uses. Bakayoko is basically the refined, technically superior version of Fellaini. Would not mind him as a Fellaini replacement, but I still think we need a Carrick replacement and Fabinho would be perfect for that.

Tbh, we should just sign half their team. Their LB is also very, very decent. Mbappe upfront is going to be one of the best in the world as well in a few year.s

That would make him a useful player wouldn't it? Fellaini isn't that bad technically, just not a good tackler

He could be a world beater at Chelsea but I don't think we're missing out on a great midfielder. Also don't think it improves Chelsea that much, they need a more technical, forward thinking midfielder, basically Fabregas when he could still run.

Hope he goes to Chelsea and not here. His mate Fabinho is a much much better player.

The only reason why I would be worried about Chelsea signing Bakayoko, is because Monaco would be reluctant to let Fabinho go in the same summer

Otherwise, they are welcome to him.

Wonder if we got him Conte would be comfortable playing with Cesc as a regular starter if flanked by both Kante and Bakayoko.

Haven't seen much of him admittedly, but from what I hear he's really raw right now but has huge potential.

Don't really rate him that highly from the few times I've seen him.

Huge is certainly an exaggeration. He has potential let's leave at that.

I mean, he's being sought after by just about every huge club out there and for massive fees so I would assume his potential is great, yes?

If world class managers like Conte and Mourinho are after him that's enough for me over the word of some forum posters.

Woah there, exaggerating much?

The only club linked with him is you, just now. We've not been credibly linked with him, nor has any other big club that I know of. Just because fans open a thread on a forum, does not mean the club is linked.

He's being linked with Chelsea, let him exaggerate.

He'll change his tune when he doesn't end up there.

All the sources are shite (even Ballague linking him with us) but over the past couple of weeks he's been linked with United, Arsenal, and Chelsea.

Won't be bothered, tbh. Maybe in a few years if he's at a rival and tearing up trees. I trust Conte with whoever he brings in whether it's this guy or someone else.

Being really big, fairly mobile, and respectably decent on the ball - I'm going to make a really lazy comparison and say it maybe looks like he has potential to offer something Matic did/does at his best.

..and Barcelona and Real and New York Cosmos

We have been linked with Fabinho repeatedly, not Bakayoko.

That's a sensible approach tbf

It doesn't make Bakayoko a poor player though. I know you didn't say it but still.

Ye by no means, could turn into a good player but from the games I've seen Fabinho has looked a much better prospect, guess time will tell though.

Why would this thread exsist and continue to be active if you haven't been linked? Of course you have.

Kante and Bakayoko just seems a bit overkill to me. Two great ball winners admittedly, but two players who lack any real passing ability. I dunno, maybe it'll work.

It's a thread on a fan forum. It was created at time when he was linked with a move to Stoke and Southampton because of his lack of playing time under Jardim (with our name thrown in for shits and giggles)

Really, now :wenger:

That would be a concern, true. Especially against teams that park the bus against us.

I personally think we should be after a Nainggolan/Verratti/Arturo Vidal type than a destroyer.

I thought he was pretty good v Man City and the header was excellent. Should never judge players on 1 or 2 games because if I had only seen the 2nd half of each game i wouldnt touch Mendy, Sidibe, Silva or Fabinho. Watch the first halves, you would

Agreed, someone who still has a lot to offer defensively, but can contribute going forward too. Unfortunately players like that seem to be at a premium right now.

You can always look at it as deploying them in formation that frees the attacking players from all defensive responsibility

Like currently with Matic & Kante instead of Bakayoko? What's the difference then?

Matic is 28, at his peak and having a good season. Not sure what bringing in Bakayoko will achieve. Matic, Kante and Fabregas have the 2 midfield positions covered between them. Chalobah is the 4th and he is a promising MF. Would he get more game time than Matic or Fabregas? What would happen to Chalobah's development?

If they do move for him it feels like padding the squad for the CL next season, more than anything. I guess we'll see.

I guess fatigue is a complaint Conte will not be making then

Would not be arsed one bit by him going to Chelsea

Anyone with any sense would go for Fabinho instead
