Tiemoue Bakayoko

I have only seen a bit of him but he's more dynamic and agile from what I've seen and looks a better passer.
Apparently Chelsea, Juventus and Roma are hot on Kessie right now. Being two footed, he will be comfortable on either side of a CM 3. As far as realistic young CMs go, I'd have him over Bakayoko who will be way more expensive and a tad older.

You mean he's a more attacking midfielder and scores more goals. He does not have Bakayoko's defensive game. Apples and oranges.
I would not class Kessie as an AM, he's always looked like a b2b to me. Bakayoko isn't that defensive imo, that responsibility lies more with Fabinho

To be honest I wouldn't really want to see us buy either, we have a couple of young CM's that are around the same ages as these two and play similar roles, that I'd like to see get a chance. To me we need a proper holding midfielder who will sit and screen the back 4, who is good against the press and can distribute it calmly and accurately, someone who will always be behind Pogba as a safety net.

I definitely agree but having seen Goss moved on and my doubts on what Jose will do Pereira and TFM, we might resort to spending unnecessarily imo. Besides, until Fellaini is moved on I'm not seeing the progress in that department.

I don't think TFM will ever be good enough to be our DM - I think he's better placed elsewhere. Pereira also isn't a defensive sort of player and has to play further forward if he wants to make it here.

If we want a defensive minded player like that, we're going to have to sign them elsewhere as I don't see where in our academy we've got a viable option for that position. Alternatively, we don't actually need a specialist DM but something tells me Mourinho desperately wants one.

I didn't recommend them as DMs just general CM options. I do to think he'll want a player that can shield the back four as a matter of preference. I was just surprised that he didn't go for Kante

I think much depends on how we approach the summer as a whole, if Jose is only adding 4 I don't think 2 CM's will be on the agenda, it'll only be one and to me another one that mainly chases the ball is not going to help. I also think it would be understandble if Jose was brining in proven quality in place of using TFM and Pereira, but the players we are linked to are barely older than them.

Apparently we did but he preferred Chelsea, if we had got Kante he'd play in place of Ander but he wouldn't solve the holding issue we have as he plays at his best with a CM deeper than him.

This concerns me unless there is a "Bailey" out there. There is a real lack of specialist DM out. It will be more luck than work to get a solid one in the summer

I trust in Jose no one thought of Bailly or Mykytarin to be honest (even though he was Germany POTY). It was all Bale, Muller or James!

Hope he starts tonight. It'll be the first time watching him live, which will be against an opponent in Man City, who like to press the ball.

Eh? He's been very good this season but not exactly been great tonight, been caught napping a few times.

He looks the type of player that would fit in perfectly alongside Pogba.

Tonight like on most occassions he spends the bulk of the time chasing the ball, he's a bigger version of Ander, not what we need with Pogba at all, only of use as a replacement to Fellaini in the overall squad.

Eh? Seems some had already decided he was going to have a good game. Nothing special in the first half, caught out of position a few times too.

As overrated as our very own William Carvalho

Herrera > Bakayoko

Cut him some slack, he took a knock on his knee 3 days back and was rushed into this game. Was obviously gassed by 60 minutes and should've been substituted earlier.

He won't fit our needs if we intend to play Pogba in a midfield two, that'd be too similar. Fabinho is DM we should be looking to buy.

Personally I don't think either of their CM's are really what we need, we spend a lot of time in posession and neither are particularly good passers beyond the sideays retention pass.

This guy is not what we need, as stated by so many of our French posters that simply can't understand our salivating over him.

As a b2b Herrera is better, and as a DM he is too erratic.

Just listen to me when I say that he isn't a DM and he is often a liability.

Fabinho made a few nice passes and a great cross for the goal but the thing for me is what were they doing so great out of possession either? City had all the possession and it was meaningful possession as well. There was constantly acres of space between monacos defence and midfield. City's attacking midfielders had all the time in the world everytime they were on it. Two defensive midfielders we supposedly should be signing shouldn't be allowing that.

Hope we stay from him, need someone more intelligent when on the ball and without.

He didn't have the legs for 90 mins. The second half completely passed him by. He's monstrous sized, but his positioning is all over the place and his movement and passing range are Fellaini levels. Way too limited.

I really don't see how he would displace Herrera or even offer a viable alternative when he is unavailable.
