We're in a good position of strength due to the current exchange rate though. It's "only" 60 million, which isn't much more than we paid for Di Maria, and less than the cost of Bale
*70m

I dont think he's worth that kind of money but he's one of the better players in the area we need (wing/striker option)

Pedro would be far more value for money, but Muller can play through the middle

He's worth the money, but I think at this point it might be easier to get Messi than him. No chance in hell Bayern sells, but the good part is that if we bothered to make an offer, the player didn't reject us from the start, so who knows what the future holds.
Bit like RVP, Di Maria and Cantona then....

Rather sign Bale. Not that I don't rate muller highly. But I think Bale would be a better buy at that price.
I don't think so Müller is like tailor made for a Van Gaal team he knows him and what he wants from his players and would fit right in to the team from the first day.

He is better than Bale so I don't see what is so insane with it.
Have to agree with this, hes a much better team player and can play almost anywhere on the pitch. His first touch is first class and his movement is amazing, I dont think this will happen though as Bayern wont want to lose another player or I think there will be scenes reminiscent of Casillas departure from Madrid.

Pls tell me there aren't people who don't rate the 25yr old catalyst for a treble winning + wc winning team

100m for muller is insane, i don't care about money at all since it's not mine, but this would inflate the market beyond repair.
Because players of Muller's level are there to be had left, right and centre?

Who would become a more expensive acquisition off the back of Muller coming to us for 100m?

There are some here that are so good in reading De Gea's body expressions...

Try it with Müller - is he willing to go?The video is from last night.

Woody is busting out his pimp cannon, he's had enough of all these modestly priced deals, he needs to spend big to get his marquee! fix. :D

Everyone else, that's the point in inflation.

Bayren will be fecked when Pep leaves. They will have sold their German core and be full of Spaniards who want to follow Pep out.

Silly question is he a winger or a striker?

Get the impression he is similar to Pedro in terms of being a winger/striker.

We can't trust anything from that video with the lack of freedom of speech in China. It all looks like it has been set up by the Communist Party.

I don't think it's true, not because we wouldn't spend that much money on a player, even an inferior one, but because Bayern doesn't want to sell and we wouldn't make an offer before talking to them. We agreed everything with Bastian and Bayern before submitting an offer. Bayern is to big just to throw offers on them.

Player worse than him went for more last summer. Don't quite get your point about this move inflating the market beyond repair.

He's been used as more of a wide forward, but he can play through the middle as a traditional striker

Whereas Pedro is just the wide forward/winger part

Again; Müller gave United the usual "one of the big clubs, Im honored but not interested" clap on the back. H

We offer the far better package, he is Bayern born and we have more money(yes, thats still true).

No chance but still good to see him praised. Still underrated. Top 5 player. No question.

I must admit, I know there's no chance he'd move, my brain is shouting that in my head to stop me from getting excited but fecking hell, if we get Muller, I don't know how I'd react. He's so so fecking good.

Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar, Suarez, Robben, Aguero (when not injured) off the top of my head are better than him. Muller is a top tenner though.

I will kiss all women in my neighbourhood if it happens.

No way he wants to leave, no way we will sell. /closed

Threadban!

Against Valencia he played as a striker - 2 goals in 58 minutes. Initiated the third when he went into midfield.

He is better than Bale so I don't see what is so insane with it.

I think people see Muller as mature and finished whereas they see Bale as having potential, though they are only a couple of months apart in age.

No idea who will perform better over the next 5 years.

Muller has 20 CL goals + 6 assists in the last 3 years, over the course of 30 starts and 5 sub appearances, so basically a healthy league season.

I always think you overpay in the market by signing players who don't end up starting and helping the team and by the opportunity cost of giving those players time in which to come good while the team is hurt by their lack of productivity.

If we signed Muller, we'd sell Di Maria for around 45 of the 70 he would apparently cost and the other 25 isn't so crazy when you consider the money saved on a high-priced striker that would no longer be necessary. Could even sell Fellaini with Muller around as a 10/ACM (where Van Gaal used him at Bayern, yes?) to make up half or 2/3rds of the difference and just pencil the winner of the Januzaj/Pereira/Lingard summer wing battle for a few more starts on the right if need be.

Mistakes are costly, great players are a bargain and they help you win things.

Forget it.

But it if it somehow were to happen, I'd consider...well, I'd actually do a little dance. Didn't do one for Schweinsteiger. Would never dream of doing one for Pedro. But this guy? Yeah, I'd do a dance.

This seems to be one of the more ridiculous rumours so far this summer...

Can't see this happening at all, never mind this summer.

I would love to have him in our team even though I used to really dislike him - there's no denying his quality.

Muller isn't coming here, but hypothetically, only Ronaldo would be a better signing to lead the line, imo.

I think people are mental to compare the likes of Bale to Muller, also. One is eclectic with a pedigree it's hard for any but the top percentile to match, and the other has struggled badly at that same level. Muller's game intelligence is such that he could get by at numerous clubs in numerous styles. He's the kind of player LVG would be creaming himself over.
