Thomas Müller

Actually, I haven't come across anybody who's mad at Schweinsteiger leaving. He's a club legend, but he's also above 30 and was injured quite a lot. Also, after winning the record number of trophies with us most people understood that he wants to experience something else.

About the rumors: Heck no. I'm not forkin' having any of that!

Just for fun, one of my favorite Müller stats (which is another reason why he is valued so highly):Müller has been injured for a grand total of 13 DAYS in his carrer, missing 3 matches due to a torn muscle fiber (12 days) and sitting out one day of training because of a hit on the leg.

Some fans were booing Rumminigge when he was talking about Bastian at that press conference and he then promised not to sell Muller.

That stat is great! Frank Lampard has a 6 year run where he missed 6 league games in total, it is great to have a great player that hardly ever misses a game.

No way he is worth 100 million Euros.

Doubt we have bid anything like that mind you.

He's going to play at Bayern until he's 35, retire from football, join the club's board and eventually ascend to the position of club president. He is Mr FC Bayern; he will absolutely not be flogged to us or anyone else this summer.

If we actually did bid for him, it wouldn't be without positive noises from him and his agent first.

There's no way we'd go in cold.

There's a good chance I could tear my cock clean off if we get Muller!

Muller spielt immer.

He's perfect for us. There's basically no player I'd rather have on the team. Still think it's an impossible transfer, but hope is the last thing you lose so get it done Woody!

Signing Muller would be a way bigger surprise than signing Falcao.

I have never heard Muller say anything about wanting to leave Bayern and they clearly dont want to sell, but a £70m bid is something that should make them seriously consider selling him....that is crazy money.

Not really. I think at €100M the secretary picks up the phone. At €125M she puts you through to the front office. At €150M they are listening.

Probably not even then. Which player in the world that could adequately replace Müller would be available, even for 150M? And Bayern have plenty of money to buy pretty much as many 30-40M players as they want. So: No need for the money, no replacement of similar quality available.

Like I've said before, we don't have endless pots of cash. People seem to think we don't need to be responsible with our spending which isn't the case for any business on earth. And while he is an excellent player, for 70 million pounds I'd p want a Neymar, a player who can pick the ball up, beat two and slot the ball in the top corner. Muller is a fine player but I don't think he's individually brilliant enough for that sort of fee. I also don't think for example, he could have done at Liverpool what Suarez did. He's great in his own way, but in a different way. A brilliant cog to have in the wheel.
We don't have unlimited cash but our revenue for next season will be around 500m pounds and our wage bill is less than 50 percent of revenue. We pay around 20m in debt.

Right now we can spend 200m in transfers each year. With the new TV deal which starts in 2016 we will be able to spend even more.

Wow, makes me feel quite rich by proxy lol

This is crazy. Because it's a sum where I'm sure a lot of Bayern fans are actually a bit worried the board might be tempted.

It says a lot about a winger/second striker who's supposedly unable to beat a man that the fans would never let him go even for €100m.

Bayern can't possibly let him go though. Not because there's no one of similar quality available for €100m. More because he's a club legend (in the making) for them and there's no one of similar quality available in his age bracket who's actually Bavarian, extremely likeable and charismatic (despite what people on here think), and who identifies himself with the club as much.
Surely Bayern wouldn't let him go for €100m. Or would they? :nervous::lol:

I think they'd consider it for that huge fee but it would be risky the same summer at Schweinsteiger

Also interestingly he had the least pass completion at Bayern last season at 72% which is pretty low for theirs or our team

100 mil euros? not sure about that... bayern most likely doesn't want to let go of him as well, even for that sum.

It's madness people are claiming he'll retire at Bayern and become a member of the board. Just because the club and fans want it doesn't make it so.
He's 26
This is the downside of being Germanys most dominant team and one of the worlds best, he's won it all at 26. If Bayern had domestic rivals I could see some semblance of wanting to stay to keep them on top ala Barca v Madrid.
I can see him wanting a challenge.
The Bayern team are starting to age and are finding it hard to look past and replace Robben / Ribery / Bastian. Maybe he's looking around and thinks he would be better off leaving and testing himself elsewhere.

100 million would be insane money. Absolutely insane.

Its a lie, there's no way we have bidded £100 million for a player we will never get. We already got Schweiny from them, there is no way they will accept any bid for Muller who is so important to their team.

Well said, though Muller is german, thus more likely to stay than Robben and Ribery. Schweinsteiger probably felt it could be difficult to play regularly there.

He is good but not what we need. I don't think he is worth a world record fee or close to it.

He's very good and we could definitely use him. I agree with you on the world record fee bit. Its not happening anyway so i think we can put this one to bed.

Agreed. At the same time, Bayern doesn't really need the money but rather the player and will also not let another club icon walk.

Sport-Bild tells tonight that United lately made another try toward the club - but they did not make a concrete offer.

So I guess it was all more like "If we would give you X EUR, would we have a chance" - and Bayern telling "No, you would not"

That is my interpretation.

Maybe it is just my wishful thinking - but I think Bayern would not sell Müller even for the double of the sum.

At the end of the day I do not see a player in the world that guarantees you success more... (yes, you need the guy with the 1vs1 abilities in the team, too - but even that guy cannot win it alone)

He is not just another club icon - they would not even let him go if Schweinsteiger would have stayed. He is 25 - Lahm and Schweinsteiger 31 and soon 32. He is not just homegrown and Bavarian - he is a world class player, too. He is intelligent, an absolute team player, he stands out with his successes and - he is the absolute media love.

I said it before & i will say it again. Bayern players know the importance of van gaal to their recent success. 3 out of their main squad have actively seeked us or payed attention to us through the media alone.

Barcelona forgot all about van gaal due to guardiola & i bet Pep isnt hitting the right buttons in munich. I'v always regarded pep as a manager who used a mix of van gaals tactics and total football tactics and merely adapted it in his own way. In that regards he is very lucky to have messi fit his tactics so well because other than that xavi & iniesta were van gaals players.

How is he not what we need? A goalscorer who has age on his side.

With the formation we are playing with just 1 striker, I am not sure how he would fit into our team. Why do we want to pay 100 M to pay for someone to start from the bench?.

That's a strange thought process you have there.

You don't understand his qualities > you don't see where he fits > why would we pay €100m if you'd only have him on the bench?

Ever thought it's more along the lines of:

Van Gaal knows his qualities > Van Gaal knows exactly where he would fit > Van Gaal is happy to pay €100m for someone he's start in every game in his favoured system.

Could this be the "surprise" player LvG was alluding to? Very well could be as it would be shocking if Muller left. Would take a concrete transfer request just to get the ball rolling.
