Thomas Müller

The most shocking thing for me in all this is that he is only 25!!

Muller is definitely my ultimate muppet fantasy this year. Will never, ever happen.

If he were to somehow leave (not going to happen in all likelihood) how much can you see him going for?
65m poundsish maybe the entire deal with some bonus's as high as 70-75 as a minimum structure could easily go higher.

Once again, we set a precedent with di maria, forking out 60m after 1 world class season.

Muller is 25, a striker/forward and has had 3-4 absolutely brilliant seasons, world cup winner, top scorer etc. he would get 25 league goals as a 9 for the foreseeable future and is about as much of a guarantee is world football as you can possibly get.

Then you take into account his contract situation (4 years left?) a club that absolutely doesn't need or want to sell him.

I don't know anything about any recent links, or the thread bump, but literally the only situation he ends up as Manchester uniteds next number 9 next season is if out of the blue he hands in a transfer request says he only wants to go here, and we submit a bid that bayern can stomach.

Unfortunately I think we'd have more chance getting Ronaldo or Messi.

We do have a weird fetish for making unwelcome approaches with high money towards players who are totally happy in their current situation.

He's a hero with the fans but I don't think that he is totally happy with Pep and it was LvG who brought him through. Still a very unrealistic signing for us.

If Pep starts to alienate players like Schweinsteiger and Muller I think they'd rather show him the door especially with only a year remaining on his deal and no signs of him committing long term.

I look to muller as inspiration and in hope that van gaal's ability to distinguish, improvise and improve youth will be seen at united.

Just as he promised great futures for alaba, muller and badstuber(injuries aside), i wonder who in our youth has not only caught his eyes but are also able to adapt to his methods; but i guess thats the same thing.

Just realised if we signed Muller, he'd probably get the number 9 shirt. Leading some form of unfunny nein/9 based puns throughout the rest of his career. I dont think I could stand that.

"Muller says 9 to new Bayern deal" and shite like that.

Muller says 9 to Chelsea's title challenge.

Messi's bid for back-to-back CL titles? 9, says muller.

I think you are right. Müller is almost an impossible signing, Schweinsteiger might work out if he has the desire to come here.

We're not getting Muller but if we did it'd remind me of Di Maria signing last season - very high profile, very expensive but might not necessarily be what we need at the moment. I rate him very highly but I really do reckon that outside of that perfectly oiled Bayern machine he'd not look equally good and would not be a potential £60m player.

I think we definitely needed Di Maria when we got him. We sorely lacked pace, and we needed a fast, dangerous attacker.

Now, with RVP and Falcao gone (and probably Hernandez as well), we need goals. Muller is goals.

He scored 30+ goals/assists per season before they were the machine they are today (pre 2012). Additionally his 10 goals and 6 assists in 13 World Cup games don´t really spell system reliability to me.

Neeeevvvvveerrrrrrr going to happen.

Seriously. Complete non starter.

Probably. Just something about him that doesn't seem to match up with how I'd expect us to play, he's a quality player no doubt and one of the best forwards in the world. I'd rather we spent £25m - £30m on potential than consider him a £60m certain quality because I am not really entirely sure how he'd fit in here.

That said between him for £60m and Kane for £40m it's a complete no brainer.

If I had to choose to sign a player for United (who isn't called Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar) then Muller would be my choice.

It won't happen though. But he is really a fantastic player and one of my favorite players. Would absolutely love to see him here.

He was brilliant for LVG on a team that wasn't near as good as current's well oiled machine. Despite that LVG had the Budesliga's top scorer of last season (Toni), the player who broke German transfer record (Gomez) and Germany's top goalscorer of all time (Klose), LVG played a 18 years old Muller who wasn't near as good as today. Also, LVG said that Muller always play (around the same status as Rooney has for United, but without being captain) meaning that he didn't rotate, or drop or just not play him. He was his favorite player there which means that Muller is a diligent student of philoshopy.

On other words, if we sign him, almost surely that transfer would work. At least, for as long as LVG is here.

A shame it will never happen. I love Muller
Yup
Out of all the players in the world bar messi he is the one I would love to see us buy
He can operate in a number of positions and without being spectacular is one of the most effective players I have ever seen.
Can't imagine bayern would consider selling him and even if they did I expect madrid / barca would be all over him straight away

Never in a million years would this happen, but short of Ronaldo coming home this would be the ultimate muppet fantasy for me. Ruthlessly effective, very versatile, and one of the best in the world at getting the most out of limited space, which given that our forward options last season struggled with this, would be a huge step forward.

I wouldn't go as far as you but I really don't understand this worship of Ronaldo I don't hate him or anything, in fact I regard his time with us very fondly and can only admire and appreciate what he's done for us. However, he clearly doesn't fancy us that much, he respects us, had a good time with us, whatever you wanna call it but her worship should be reserved for players who viewed us as the ultimate place to be. He clearly didn't so it's really pathetic when people keep harping on about wanting him back.

Apparently L'Equipe's source for United's 58M GBP pound bid is Sport 1 but I couldn't find anything on their website.

Do not want. Excellent player, but he's neither a '10', nor a '9' and we have enough players for his positions. Not worth £60m either, we'd make the same mistake as with Di Maria and probably end up selling him back to Munich for a cut-price. Furthermore this guy is Bayern through and through, no way he is coming anyway.

I'd rather offer a big amount for Lacazette or ask Inter for Icardi.

If we're going to make a big money signing from Europe, this is the time to do it with the pound at a record high against the Euro.

Offer Müller a 5 year contract with €20m/year wages

Offer Bayern €60m plus Di Maria

Just to see what happens

I like him, the idea of Rooney and Muller both seamlessly being able to interchange should work well.

Though 60m tho..not sure he warrants that kind of money

Muller is easily worth £60m imo. Can't believe he is only 25 too - should be approaching his best few years now. Is as close to a guarantee of goals as you can get after Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez and Neymar.
Who was the last German who played for us? Am struggling to remember one.
