Television Tho Prop Grops Throps

Gareth, he wasn't one of the top three trends on twitter he was three of the top three trends on twitter.

I'M not even going to pretend I know a fecking thing about twitter brother:)

I havent followed WWE for a few years now.

Is the return of Jericho a big deal? I mean is he that big a star?

And why is everyone talking about CM punk?

CM Punk cut a nice workedish shoot on WWE last summer which pretty much crashed the internet. He became the hottest thing in the company and he became champ and walked out on the company as his contract expired. Nobody knew what the hell was happening.

Until HHH came back and pretty much made the show about himself, brought in his buddy Nash and they ruined the WWE storyline so that HHH could be in charge and for ego purposes beat Punk in a match that did nothing for the company except boost HHHs ego more and cause ratings and buyrates to become even worse, a stupid storyline about Nash texting himself to beat down Punk which lead to Nashs last match (for now) against HHH meaning Punk couldnt even get revenge. Seriously, its as stupid as it sounds.

Jericho is another star that should be bigger than he is but politics (HHH) ruined it.

Dont get me wrong, im not saying I know what happens backstage, but anytime a star seems to be getting hott, they then lose to HHH or something stupid like that.

Something tells me you're not the biggest HHH fan...

rofl. I dont mind when hes not the main event tbh. Like his feud with Taker at the beginning of the year going into WM when he came back the same night HHH came back. Best way to use HHH.

HHH however coming out on TV and saying that a broomstick has more talent than the rest of the roster is not exactly what should be said on TV. He had his day 10 years ago. It was just obvious after Punk cut his promo and had the fans talking about it, that HHH would stick his nose in it. Same thing happened when Edge cashed in the first MITB on Cena a few years ago and ratings for Raw were brilliant. Instead of continuing with Cena/Edge and having Cena chase the title for WM, they put the title back on Cena and had HHH chase Cena meaning ratings dropped again.

No coincidence there.

I think it's weirder for someone just to come into this thread with the sole intention of calling us weird :'(

Just watched.

I like Jericho, but that was the shittest thing I've ever seen. I mean, it was hilarious and brilliant, but it was still the shittest thing I've ever seen.

Jericho is just a genius. Hes been trolling for a long time. I remember the time he put his pose in front of a TNA sign a few years back. lol.

Research. Was discussing brock lesnar in the mma thread and popped in to see if his cheer-leaders were also regulars in here.

What the feck though? Surely this shit is aimed at 12 year olds?

The kids are definitely still the cash cow. Kids and parents who will buy them stuff and take them to events. Even then there's a pretty significant gulf between what the kids pay attention to and what the older members of the audience are looking for. But I think in recent years they've done a better job of not making older people who watch feel stupid for watching. I'd equate it a bit to watching a soap opera circus. Just because it's scripted doesn't mean you can't enjoy the acrobatics and the skill involved, like in an action movie, but live and without the help of a special effects team. At the worst it's a poorly-written tv show with decent action. At its best it can be some pretty good drama.

As far as Lesnar goes, I stopped watching before he showed up. All I've really seen from him are a few clips. He was very agile for his size (and I mean for doing flips and other things you don't quite get to see in MMA) and it seems like a lot of other fans still like him and wish he could've stuck around longer to do more.

I have to say though, I don't really get it.

Why are the WWE trying to appeal to some kind of aware, intelligent audience, when the vast majority of people who care about wrestling are either kids, or just want to watch epic, over the top things happening and people being hit in the face with shit?

I haven't watched for years, but occasionally have my attention drawn, and in recent months there's been this Jericho thing, and CM Punk's "breaking down the third wall" type character.

It doesn't really make sense. They're saying to people "look, this isn't dumb shit, it's deep, and clever", but at the same time, no one's allowed to do or say anything that would be deemed to risque or complicated for CBeebies. It must make for some incredibly bizarre (shit) programming.

It certainly does, and that contradiction is what really bothers me about the whole effort to keep the TV-PG rating. I don't think any show that involves people beating the shit out of each other with chairs should be aimed at kids anyways. While it's certainly possible to pull off an "edgy" storyline still, it does handcuff the writers.

So Jerichos parodying every type of returninng wrestler, milking the crowd last week, overcome with emotion this week. what will the troller do next wek.

Can't have him using the same gimmick as Mark Henry now.

Brodus Clay was the best thing on RAW. Seriously, it was so out of nowhere I just couldn't stop laughing.

Thing is though, I watched TNA: Genesis recently as well, which was booked very sensibly, everything done down the middle, very normal. On RAW, you've got The Funkasaurus, Masked Kane, R-Truth, Troll Jericho etc. etc.

When did WWE and TNA swap writing teams?

That Brodus Clay bit had me miffed. Completely and utterly unexpected! As good as the Jericho-trolling is, I hope he actually says something next week. Otherwise it will just be tedious.

I hope he attacks someone next week, grabs a mic but instead of talking just drops it on their head then walks off. Preferably get Orton in to talk about his injuries and attack him.

It will carry on until the booing really starts.
