Television Tho Prop Grops Throps

Right what you guys think? That Jericho thing couldn't have been it!

What's gonna happen before the end of the show - Jericho was a decoy and the real person hasn't came out yet? Cena to turn heel? Undertaker to return?

I agree that was fantastic. Jericho said if he comes back he's gotta do something completely different. If he comes back as a full blown troll that would definitely be something new.

Is he coming back as Ciderman then? :D

Not sure that RAW had anything going for it.

Bellas outfits, maybe.

Where the feck is Brodus!?!?!?

Crazy R Truth was quite good! Certainly better than I was expecting him to be.

Jericho turning heel without having to say a single word. What a man.

And.. Actual story lines on raw! Who'd have thought it? I'm not sure if you guys noticed this but there was a hint of character development, even Ziggler cut a good promo!

From what I can tell by reading other parts of the internet I'm one of the minority of people who actually enjoyed Raw.

I think what impressed me the most about Jericho's return is that without having to say a single word people will be tuning in next week to find out what the feck is going on. Brilliant.

The Kane/Cena storyline is unfolding quite well, they better not feck that one up.

The WWE title is actually interesting. The match at the Rumble should be good.

John Laurinaitis trolling left, right and centre.

The mid card and the divas have somehow gotten worse though. Zack Ryder might as well not be on TV, he's just a walking advert now that he's won the US championship, give him another storyline!

Truth and Miz is going well, but I can see that going wrong quickly, if Truth ever comes out singing "what's up" I'm going to fecking slaughter someone.

The Divas are just boring as shit, why did Kharma have to get pregnant? USE A CONDOM YOU DUMB COW!

Phelan made a good point on twitter, there was too much on the show tonight, they could have done with just scrapping the smackdown match and giving more time to the storylines that are taking place on Raw.

Assuming I have this right, I think it's incredibly risky what they're trying to do. For everyone saying that people are going to tune in next week just to get an explanation, there was someone else saying that people are going to be so disappointed by the letdown that they're just going to quit watching. All the people who tuned in just for tonight are definitely feeling like they wasted their time right now. They're banking on the IWC recognizing what they're trying to do and half of them tuned in subconsciously hoping for the old Jericho, despite the fact that he's on record as saying he wants to do something completely different. So a lot of people looking for instant gratification were left confused and pissed off.

Chris Jericho wastes a moment of your time on a weekly basis. It's borderline batshit crazy WCW-esque booking. They're toeing a very fine line between teasing the fans and outright flipping them off. If there were any other wrestler trying to pull this off, I'd put money down that this would backfire immensely. But if anyone can pull this off, it's Jericho, and if he does pull it off, it could be one of the most original gimmicks we've seen in a long time. That's why I'm actually pretty excited by this.

Wow, I managed to read a lot into something that revealed nothing. Tune in next week to find out whether I'm full of shit or not.

Like that ever happens. The people that complain the most are the ones that tune in every week. Its the ones that dont really complain and just actually do stop watching.

But Jerichos return was fantastic. Jeritroll  I agree that it works cos its Jericho. His reaction and acting isnt wooden hence why he could pull it off. Im actually surprised there werent some boos but I loved how he had the fans just cheer and chant his name without him actually doing anything then he just walked off. There is defo something bigger here cos, well, its Jericho. he doesnt just do things for the sake off it. Look at his whole storyline with HBK. That was a huge build with a fantastic payoff and matches.

Im sure this will be similar and im sure he will have a huge say in what he does and the direction.

More than anything, this has people talking. Jericho had the top three worldwide trending topics and im sure WWE will love that. Hopefully for them it translates into ratings as well.

The rest of Raw was usual things though.

Thought Jericho was hilarious. Weeks of incredibly poetic and artistic build up videos, making him out to be a dark, mysterious character. Then he turns up in a tacky flashing jacket, spends 10 minutes running round dishing out high fives and giggling like a school girl, then leaves without saying a word. Brilliant

That's the clincher right there. As soon as I saw that terrible Jacket I figured something different might go down!

Whilst it is disappointing, as Jericho is probably my favourite wrestler ever, and I'd have loved for him to cut a fantastic promo, they obviously need him to be a heel feud with C.M. Punk, in order to keep Punk as a top face and remain over with the fans. A returning Jericho is going to get massive cheers, and considering those people would also want to cheer for Punk, a face vs. face Wrestlemania main event could do them both more harm then good.

Also, heel Jericho is fantastic. There is no one better in my humble opinion.

I just watched it again. This time fully expecting that Jericho is going to troll everyone. The first time around, you miss a few things in the excitement and inevitable disappointment. The only thing I remotely noticed was the fact that he seemed a bit too happy and too excited. Turns out that was all part of the plan on a deeper level than I thought.

Here's the video, though I don't know how long this particular video will be up. Pay close attention to his face the whole time and the angle at which he deliberately looks at the camera or audience. Sometimes the camera even moves to capture the right angle. It's most obvious at around 6:14 when he starts hopping up on the turnbuckles, but he does it repeatedly throughout the segment before and after that. I know it's late for me, and I could be reading too much into it, but he does it far too many times and it looks far too deliberate for this to be unintentional.

Trollface / Coolface / Problem? | Know Your Meme

He didn't just troll everyone. He left a calling card for people to find later.

I was thoroughly underwhelmed by Jericho's return but the more I think about it, the more I think that he did a stunning job in the ring. I kept wondering what that stupid smile was about and, if true, Jericho trolling was immense! I was booing him by the end too!

I don't even watch this stuff normally but it was fairly obvious Jericho was taking the piss out of the good guys, notably that CM Punk character, and the fans.

The more I'm thinking about it... the more I love it, and in-turn, the more of a genius Jericho becomes.

The great thing is, if it had been anyone else it wouldn't have made any sense and so wouldn't have worked as well as it has done. It was, in-fact, a truly unique return... how often can we say that about WWE programming these days??

Also some of the tweets from the WWE Creative parody account were pretty funny:

WWE Creative @WWE_Creative
If you're on the edge of your seat because "He is here" then you really need to learn how to relax. #RAWTonight

Okay, @CMPunk said bitch to mean female dog. Please keep buying t-shirts and toys, kids! #RAWTonight

Due to Chris Jericho's delay, we've had to postpone @BrodusClay 's debut for another couple weeks #RAWTonight

When in doubt? Just throw a bunch of guys in a tag match in the main event. Booking made simple #RAWTonight

Jobbed out Punk, marginalized Bryan and almost sucked Ryder into the abyss. What the ratings couldn't kill our booking will #RAWTonight

YES ! Thank you.

Jericho himself has always said that to stay fresh you need to reinvent yourself. At first I thought he was going back into full Y2J mode. I thought he was initally milking the reaction but the longer it went on, you just knew he was not going to say anything. When we went to high five people again you just knew he was pretty much doing that, trolling the crowd.

Jericho does what he does best, gets people talking about him. And he did the best job, by not even saying anything. He took an otherwise fairly crappy deadish crowd and had them cheering him wildly. And by the end of it, had them almost turning and some booing thinking WTF?

The eventual promos and feud between Jericho and Punk could be so damn fantastic if they go in that direction. It could even top the Jericho / HBK ones if done right.

Needless to say it accomplished two things, have people talking about it and have people wanting to see where it goes. As I said, hopefully the ratings reflect that.

Its just a shame everything else in the show is pretty meh.

Jerichos a really smart guy, but because he only really has any creative over his own character....shits too obvious, he truly should be given bigger creative control over company wide storylines. I mean despite knowing it's gonna be Jericho(or Taker I guess), I still tuned in this week and am discussing unlike every other week where I won't watch and don't care about it all.

I was reading a few wrestling forums this morning, after watching Raw, to see what the reaction to the Jericho return was. All i'm going to say is that their really really are some stupid people about.

Comments like " Jericho fecked it up, he obviously forgot his lines!" and "Jericho has done a Jeff Hardy and come out high on drugs" were two of my favourites.

Pure and simple this was a well scripted and well executed work by Jericho and the WWE.

I heard that Jericho returning was one of the top three subjects being debated on Twitter last night after the show and all because of how odd it was.

They have got people talking about it and i guarantee that their will be a lot of back patting going on around Vince's board room table today.

We all expected Y2J to come out at the end and give someone the codebreaker, or just a classic beat down. It didn't happen, and because of that people are annoyed and confused as feck about it.

How many people are not going to tune in next week to see what happens next? Very clever by the WWE, very clever indeed.

back patting? Triple H will be burying him as usual come july.

Love it or hate it the return has generated a buzz, did its job.
