Television Tho Prop Grops Throps

The peak of professional wrestling right there. Shame it doesn't come with the build up promo too. Just... absolutely flawless stuff.

I'm in Japan at the moment and decided to go to a DDT show. Pretty intimate, a couple of hundred at most, but was an absolute blast. First match had a dance battle, danshoku dino pulled his pants down and what I can only describe as getting his taint pinched, got some good wrestling before cluster feck of a main event involving Chris Brookes, staple guns and ikea storage tubs. Oh and I can say I saw Jun Akiyama live.

This whole video was great production.

But it's generally horrific in almost everything else. I'm not sure what the point in any of it was... I know it's wrestling and all, but I shouldn't be thinking that

I don’t see Cody and Roman as actual rivals like the way Rock and Austin were.

TBH if they're going to do pre-recorded segments instead of in front of the people who paid money to watch it live, the production should be bloody good.

And its not. Its merely ok. While Cody's acting is about 1.5/10. If this was a scene in even a b-rate tv program it'd be terrible.

And the premise was dumb. Why would they meet in an empty stadium and stand in the middle of it awkwardly to have a chat that made absolutely no sense without a live audience, and then just leave again? Why would Reigns turn up in 6 different cars? All just to be tag partners for a match that I'm really not interested in.

You are literally the only person Ive seen attempt to criticise it.

Pre-ordered segments have been a thing on weekly shows since the beginning of time so whys this any different? And they answered why they were at that particular stadium literally straight away.

Meet me in the centre circle at Old Trafford and I'll tell you why

Tbf, there's history in this thread of that so ... It's not a surprise

I don't mind stuff like this when it isn't completely dumb and pointless but it was very much both of those things. They didn't "explain" why two people would meet on a field standing at weird angles to each other and have a weird irrelevant conversation which would have been far more sensible to just have at the wrestling show. Felt like a scene out of a Transformers movie (this is not a good thing).

And its mainly the "oh the production was great" bit I don't agree with. It wasn't. It was a cheesy tv/film scene two people who aren't professional actors (although Reigns at least can pass as one).

Where's Cody gone now. Back to sit in his car with Metro for another 2 weeks looking at nothing through his binoculars?

This is such a weird complaint given the criticisms used. If it was lines flubbed or similar id understand

But talking about weird angles and having a conversation not a wrestling show arena... This isn't the first nor will it be the last.

Anyway I think Braun/Bronson is my fav WWE feud right now

Can't believe how much I'm looking forward to this match.

They've done a crazy good job of building it - so much so it deserves to be on a bigger stage then a normal RAW

He's been great for around a year now, definitely deserves it although can't see him keeping it if he is involved in the Bloodline story.
Not a fan of the superkick spam. Should be a finisher. Other than that it'll be a spear or a splash. Basically only does moves which begin with S

The production values are pretty high, and it generally looks pretty slick, but I spent most of it cringing at the stuff they were coming out with.

It would have been better in front of fans, that way a bit more of the conversation might have made sense.

Both can be true really - Jey is over and his entrance is a huge spectacle every time, he's earned a run with some gold. I agree with LCB about his wrestling though; in the ring he's so limited. It goes beyond having a shallow moveset too, as plenty of wrestlers have had that but still regularly put on really compelling matches.

It's not weird at all it was a cringeworthy segment and made no sense in the setting. The high production value nonsense just makes it weirder on a live action wrestling show.

You say it's not the first or last but I'm struggling to think of anything similar in wwe. It's not exactly comparable to Booker and Austin fighting in a supermarket with a camera man chasing them about. Yeah they've done pre recorded stuff plenty of times where a wrestler turns up at another's home etc. But this was so OTT for a pointless conversation.

I don't remember Roman ever turning up to Smackdown in a 7 car convoy either. He doesn't need anyone's help but needs a presidential escort to leave the house and go have a conversation with anyone?

I don't mind dumb nonsensical stuff but when it's dumb nonsensical stuff that's trying to take itself really seriously it just doesn't achieve anything other than being complete out of place.

I agree on the Bronson/Braun bit. It's been great. Deserves a ppv spot really. Also looking forward to Drew vs Punk HIAC even if the feud has tailed off a bit

I reckon they keep punk-drew going to mania. Have punk win HIAC in a way that keeps Drew off screen for a while, Punk wins title at rumble, drew returns and wins the rumble, they face off at mania, punk gets his mania main event, drew wins the title and keeps it this time.

Reckon we edge towards Cody-Seth for the other title with rock, reigns and bloodline types having a separate program.

Not sure what you do with Gunther though after having him drop the title.

If they gave Jey his moment... then I can only see it leading to them giving Sami his moment too, and it makes complete sense to hot shot it to Sami with Gunther, as he won the IC title from him too, but then have Gunther win the rematch and rubber match, as Gunther's the long term player here.

To put it mildly, Sami deserves a World Title run far more than Jey Uso deserved an individual title. But because of who he is, it only has to be a Mick Foley-esque run, earned, but no need for a real reign.

Jay is more over at the moment so assume that's why. Although seems harsh on Bron tbh unless he's pissed someone off or is going to win it back.

Can't see them letting Sami beat Gunther again but it wouldn't be the worst thing to have a bit of unpredictability.
