ffs, I've refreshed this page a hundred times already this morning, and am refreshing twitter and many reputable sports sites such as caught offside and goal.com. I've even ordered my Thiago bed sheets, mug and keyring

His flight to Manchester is probably delayed.

If Dave Saves doesn't bring him back with him, then we should sell him, the cnut.

Perhaps, but it's a reasonable one. A manager doesn't need to be directly involved in transfer negotiations.
Yeah fair enough, I didn't know too much about Moyes management style, haven't really spoken to Many Everton fans so not sure how hands on he was etc ..

Brightonian is the beacon of light for us all in this thread

Never been a muppet before, so I'm just blindly following a Gambit-esque approach: i.e. confirm everything constantly, and get snappy with all and sundry.

I think in my head it's actually happened already. I find myself looking at the fixture list and thinking 'how are we going to win these games without Thiago?':nervous:

I would have thought the new manager would have WANTED to have been in direct involvement with transfers, especially at the start of his tenure...

I would assume quite the opposite, I would imagine that he will want to be as close to it as possible, why wouldn't he need/want to be involved? I'm not challenging, just enquiring...

What could he possibly do that he couldn't do whilst on holiday though? If he's required to make a phone call then I'm sure he'll be available for that. What more can he do?

I've no doubt that he WANTS to secure his targets, but he's not gonna drive around Europe bundling Spaniards into the back of a van. What difference does it make whether he's by the pool in Dubai or getting rained on in Manchester?

-Hi, Tiago, Moyes here
-Where are you?
-Dubai
-*hangs up*

-Hi, Tiago, Jose here
-Where are you?
-The Shed End
-I'm listening...

There's an inner muppet in us all. I went through a particular bad spell in the Sneijder days, with over 700 posts in that thread. Failing to sign him left me mentally drained and unstable for a good 3 months of the next season. I hope you are prepared for the consequences if Thiago does not join our cause...

Glad you put that conversation there, I would never have understood otherwise... Anyway... Jack Wilshere, why did he go to Arsenal over Manchester United? I'm sure you are aware...

Because he came from their academy? You must be thinking of Ramsay, which didn't work out too bad after all..

My apologies, dead right you are, and whether it worked out is not the issue/ question, its the fact that the manager personally seeing him, making more of an effort, is what sealed the deal, so yes, it does make a difference sometimes.

To a Welsh 17yo maybe.

If Cristiano Ronaldo fancies a tour around Old Trafford I'd expect Moyes to pop on a plane and put a spread on. Until then though I think we're fine.

If the reason Ramsey didn't join United is because he only got shown around by Gary Neville then feck him. He's won more than Wenger, for feck sake.

SAF has been vindicated in deeming Ramsey as being only worthy of the Neville tour anyway, so under scrutiny the policy stands in that regard.

The Queen doesn't personally show any old wanker around Buckingham Palace. She gets Prince Charles to do the knobheads.

My point wasn't that this will allow us to then sign Thiago, my point was that every transfer is different, the only thing we know is fact is that you can't say as much as I or the next person, whether Moyes ringing him/ meeting him personally will make a difference.. that's all..

Good reasoning, strong post. If a player chose to join another team as he felt they were more interested in him, or showed more interest by sending the manager instead of someone else, your attitude is, 'feck him'... Just sounds a bit silly to me... I agree it turned out well with Ramsey and we didn't want him after all, but I was not alone at the time in thinking, if SAF only .... not, 'feck him'...

If that fecker comes out and says he is wearing red next year, or perhaps blue... I may just pull my eyeballs out.

This really does feel like the annual muppet cocktease, which goes south very quickly and ugly.

Its so frustrating that he is the perfect player at the perfect time for us, but will probably go and sit in the stockpile of midfielders at some oil money fed wankers club.

You guys need to remember that it's been widely reported that we have been monitoring and made attempts to sign this kid for a number of years. That should automatically trump any last minute efforts by the likes of Chelsea or City to woo him.

If he goes to City ahead of us, he's inspired by money. If he goes to Chelsea, money is a factor, but they do now have the Mourinho factor - and players like to play under the top managers. I don't think that's something to worry us too much though, the lad is smart - I'm fairly confident he will make the right choice and come to us.

Hopefully, he'll be one of those players who has a dislike for Mou after his antics against Barcelona in the past and holds a grudge - doubtful, but let's hope.

Yeah, feck him. It's only Ramsay, who cares?

Gary Neville wasn't the reason anyway, it was the substantially higher contact Arsenal offered, but if a 17 year old Welsh player is put off joining Manchester United because he was "only" shown around by club legend, captain and serial title winner Gary Neville, then yes, feck him.

I never understood why sending Neville was wrong anyway. Isnt/Wasnt he a well known confidante for the younger lads at the club? The guy that helped them communicate with SAF and help them in their contract issues and stuff?

I'm sure he sits at home with all those trophies and medals, laughing in the face of Neville. What a great decision its turned out to be for him.

Wasn't this the case with David Silva as well? We were linked with him for a couple of years, but he was never for sale, then City swooped in the following year.

I'm not saying that it means that the player is definitely going to sign for us. I am responding to the people who claim that we are not trying to 'woo' him in the same way the likes of Chelsea are (Abramovic apparently in Isreal)

If he cares about going to a team who want him, who have shown the most interest in him - then it will be to us.

Honestly mate, it's not good for me to be drawn into such things. I just let it happen as I got carried with it all. I really want us to sign this lad but my gut says we'll narrowly miss out. As a result, I just decided to distance myself. It is obvious I don't have what it takes to be transfer muppet. You lot are more persistent

I think we need a live thiago ticker. Refreshing this page a million times a day is doing my head in

What about those boys that went round to Rio's house in balaclavas a few years ago and told him to sign his contract? What are they up to these days? Have they got passports? Are they free this evening?
