Oh feck off, got all excited there

I am not taking part in a muppetry after this saga, ever. My life was much better when I had 10 posts on the transfer forum.

i think if this is gonna happen, it will be announced after Moyes joins. would make no sense for it to happen before. hoping thats why the delay.

From last night's Punto Pelota, the Spanish TV gossip show - the show has actual reporters and randoms, I don't bother reporting the randoms.

Real Madrid are looking at Thiago, Florentino Perez has gone (during the past fortnight) from saying he wouldn't launch a hostile bid to saying if it's what Ancelotti wants strategically and the player is leaving anyway, then he would go for a Barca or Atletico player.

It seems that Ancelotti may have been updated on Xabi Alonso (one year to go, no contract renewal, pubalgia) and decided he needs a midfielder now. They're asking about all the likely looking reinforcements including Illaramendi and Gundogan, and they're looking at Thiago. Pere Guardiola was known to have met Madrid a couple of times but it was assumed he was talking about Luis Suarez. Now it's rumoured Thiago's dad has spoken to them as well.

Meanwhile the show's best placed Barca reporter (Quim Domenech) says the club think Thiago is going. United are still top of the likeliest destination list, with Bayern Munich (and City) still in the frame and confirms that Madrid have indeed starting sniffing around.

On the bright side for muppeteers who already suffering from Thiago-fatigue at least this story won't go on to the 31st August.

Good stuff JJ. I hope he joins us. Any chance we'd go for Illarramendi or Gundogan if Thiago fails?

If he doesn't come to us, I hope he goes to Madrid just to stick it up Barcelona's ass for making this transfer as difficult as possible.

If they are trying to make it as difficult as possible, can you blame them?

If they make it difficult for us, they will make it 100 times more difficult for Real

He has a release clause. Barcelona cannot do anything to make it difficult. It's up to the player and his agent(s).

Yes they can. The release clause is only applicable to other Spanish sides. Or summat...

They can't make it difficult for Real as all Real have to do is turn up at La Liga's offices with the amount of Thiago's release clause, and they can then sign him. Barcelona can do nothing about it as Real are a Spanish club. While they can't stop Thiago from leaving for us, they can make it difficult for us as we'll have to go through a lot of legal channels to finalize the deal.

Carl you should check your facts before posting.

Just how did Bayern manage to release Martinez from his contract, if it only counts for spanish clubs?
