Thiago Alcantara | Signed for Bayern Munich

I'm not just talking about this summer Revan. I'm talking about all the time. Bayern are great at the moment and are a huge draw, but over twenty/thirty years the biggest draws will be Madrid, Barca, United IMO.

To be fair, we didn't get that much stars in the last 20-30 years. Our philosophy (and rightly so) under SAF has been to go for stars in the making (if by draw you mean which club attracts players more). During the time, likely which club is better and which league is better attracts players more. We were a better team during the majority of last decade, and EPL was much better than Bundesliga. Now, Bayern has a better team and Bundesliga is catching up with EPL and La Liga, so I don't think that we attract players more than them.

Anyway, I think that we have gone to far with this non-sense which started when someone felt strange the possibility of a player choosing Bayern over us. Like if he chose Stoke City over Real Madrid.

I don't believe that at all. We have a vastly superior squad, a superior first team and if we manage to sign Thiago we will have a superior midfield too which was the only area that we had a significant deep weakness. We have a much better chance of winning trophies than Chelsea next season.

It's a big difference in what we as United fans think, and what random players think. We just lost Sir Alex Ferguson, along with a few other backroom staff, Scholes retired, and players like Rio and Giggs don't have much left in them. Most people think that we are set to go into a period of transition and you can't really argue with them there, while Chelsea won the Champions league and Fa cup last year, europa league this year and have now brought in Mourinho which is a big plus. I'd say they have as good a chance as us, especially if they bring in a reliable striker.

I'm all for locking this thread again. Had to skip over all this pointless bickering about who's got the biggest dick club. There are no actual updates on Thiago.

Put it this way. If Messi was to leave tomorrow and both United and Bayern had bids accepted. Which club would he pick? I'd go out on a limb and say United. Simple.

I don't think that is possible for someone to know it. Though Bayern have a better manager (and the manager with whom Messi had biggest success) and a better team. feck knows what will be in his head.

Let's try to be objective, I think Bayern in the past 20 to 30 years was just as good as us, if not better.

What does it mean more famous? I think that everyone who watch football know about both United and Bayern. We had our holy trinity, Schmeichel, Giggs, Ronaldo etc but Bayern had equally brilliant players (Beckenbauer, Breiner, Kahn, Muller, Rumennige etc). Bayern have 2 European main trophies more than us, and three domestic trophies more. Their stadium is full all the time, and I really doubt that which club has a bigger fanbase in Asia (considering that United is the biggest in UK, Bayern the biggest in Germany and pretty much at a level in Europe).
What does more famous mean? Really??

And why do you keep harping on about Asia? Did an Asian shit in your handbag? Should the biggest continent on earth be ignored when discussing which club is more famous/popular? Why should we take only Europe? It's silly.

Hazard picked Chelsea over United......can't believe some of you believe some wouldn't pick Bayern over United, you know unlike Chelsea, they are actually not a running joke, pay just as well, are respected, good hierarchy I believe, and more to the point, Moyes is in charge of one, Pep in charge of the other.

Though then again, if someones leaving Barca....yeah, he's not gonna have anymore fun getting ahead of Martinez, Schwein, Kroos, Gotze, Muller and Luis Gustavo.....goes straight in as joint started at United pretty much with Carrick week in week out, where he wants to play too I assume.

Cause United and Bayern are in Europe? Cause the difference between the fan base (in favor of United) comes from Asia, which isn't that important compared to the fanbase on the native state and to a degree the fanbase in Europe?

Please stop with this nonsense. If you do not have any updates on the Thiago situation, why not avoid posting in the Thaigo transfer thread? It would be nice to see this thread bumped with relevant news to Thiago's future, rather than a discussion on whether Messi would prefer playing for fecking Bayern or United. I'm locking it temporarily so people can read this and stop posting completely irrelevant things.

Why? They have a better team, better manager and a better city to live in. They look primed to dominate Europe for the next few years while we've just lost the single greatest factor in our success over the last 20 odd years. We might be more attractive for some players (those who have an affinity for the PL or those who feel we offer them a better chance of playing regularaly) but I think the majority of the yvery top players in Europe would choose Bayern over us atm.

Edit: Sorry Hectic :)

Yeah its really annoying, I keep on seeing it first on the list on the home page and I think great some news on Thiago only to find another 10 pages of no news what so ever.

This thread has gone to absolute shit. Take it elsewhere ladies !

I've noticed you come into threads, call them shit, then feck off again. If you've nothing to actually add you do realise you're part of the problem yes?

Tangentially related, but maybe relevant: Rafinha (Thiago's younger brother) has signed a new contract with Barcelona, it runs to 2016. Barca wanted the new contract in place before loaning him out. Incidentally, his release clause has been set to 30m.

Nothing substantial new on Thiago in the Spanish media. Cruyff advises him to leave Barca and start playing regularly. Barca look like they're more bothered by him being sold at 18m than him being sold, which sounds like a clue to Thiago that now's a good moment to leave.

Surely that wouldn't make a difference, unless his dad wanted us to sign both - sort of a all or nothing type of thing

I doubt very much that his brother would undermine his bargaining power, if it was at all about keeping the two together.
Also, Rafinha is not pushing his way into the national team.

(But thanks for at least being "on-fecking-topic") ;)

fixed for chavvy accuracy. If you can name one player who choose Chelsea over us for footballing reasons then I'll concede the point.

Hazard.

He joined because a) Chelsea were the best team in Europe, as proven by their Champions league win and b) because the manager* guaranteed that he was an automatic starter in the no10 role.

*Edit - I forgot they didn't have a manager when he signed... must have been the owner.

And allegedly his agent got 6m.

That and the fact Chelsea offered twice as much per week than United or City.

To be fair, there's a pretty good chance that Chelsea could be very strong indeed next season. Doesn't change the fact that only cnuts sign for them, mind.

If the two squads stay the same we are in a much better position. If we sign Thiago and another midfielder we will be much stronger than them regardless of what they do.

If we sign Thiago only and the rest of the squad stays the same then we'll be league winners IMO and serious contenders for the champs league.

We must have a newbie who lives in/near Santorini? Get a United shirt in their hand and get them scouring the island NOW

Just refrain from posting in here.

Exactly, how hard can it be to just not post in here, and what purpose would it serve if any updates came about anyway? It's not like we lock any other transfer threads.

ThiagON

gotta be a done deal now he's speaking English

(Waits for his next tweet written in German)
