Ohhhhh Thiago is magic
He wears a magic hat
When he saw old trafford, he said 'i fancy that'.
He never went to bayern, or juve because they have a good midfield and arent in need of him
He came to Man Utd because we got carrick and Van Persie.

On the Twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me.
Twelve Alcantaras,
Eleven Alcantaras,
Ten Alcantaras,

FIVE ALCANATRAS!

Four Alcantaras,
Three Alcantaras,
Two Alcantaras.
And a Thiago Alcantara.

Humour free zone.

And no new information. Just songs and fat Ando jokes.
Well there was that one tweet around 7-8 pages ago saying he signed a 4 year contract. Thats good enough to keep going for the next couple of hours and then I expect something from either Tancredi or Hunter.

I don't know why everyone presumes if we do sign him, he'll be desperate to return to Spain... unlike Ronaldo and Fabregas, he's already experienced what it is like at the top with one of the top two sides and whilst he never made it as a first team regular, returning to the side by the time Xavi and Iniesta are gone, won't really prove anything. He has alot of cultural influences around him due to his multinational background so i don't think Barcelona is his true love but he does seem a winner.. so obviously if we're struggling as a side, he might want to leave in the future.

Ronaldo had won everything he wanted at United and thought the grass was greener in Spain, as he's found out to his cost .. it wasn't and his peak years have gone by with only 1 La Liga to his name. Likewise Fabregas was desperate to play for the club of his dreams and work under Guardiola... he was desperate to finally play in the first team of his home club and follow his heroes... I don't think any of this applies to Thiago. If anyone is likely to want to return it would probably by David De Gea in the distant future as he hasn't really tasted the highest level of football in Spain or played in El Clasico's... and it wouldn't be surprising if he wanted to emulate someone like Casillas.

Manchester United in battle with Barcelona over Thiago Alcântara

Manchester United are in a tussle with Barcelona for Thiago Alcântara with the midfielder minded to stay at the Camp Nou if he is guaranteed regular playing time next season.

The 22-year-old currently earns around €35,000 (£30,000) a week so the English champions would offer him greatly improved terms. Yet with Barcelona wanting him to stay and become a mainstay of the team Thiago, whose current deal expires in 2015, could use United's interest as leverage to sign a more lucrative contract with the Catalan club.

Thiago was the star performer in Spain's triumph this week at the European Under-21 Championship in Israel, with the Italian-born son of Mazinho, the Brazilian 1994 World Cup winner, scoring a hat-trick in Tuesday's 4-2 final win over Italy.

According to reports Thiago has a release clause of around £17m and while United may be prepared to trigger this, it is understood his preference is to remain at Barcelona under Tito Vilanova though assurances are required that there will be more than the 15 La Liga starts handed to him during the last campaign.

This means that whether Thiago becomes David Moyes's first significant signing since succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson as United manager will depend on the player being persuaded that his future should be with Barcelona, where he came through the Spanish champion's junior ranks after joining as a teenager.

Gerard Piqué and Xavi, two of Barcelona's senior first-team players, recently voiced hopes that Thiago would stay at the club. Speaking to radio programme station Onda Cero, Piqué said: "There is a possibility that he could leave but we have to convince him that the best place for him is Barcelona. Players in his position like Xavi were patient and they ended up defining an era."

While Thiago is in competition with Xavi, at 33 the latter is becoming more hampered by injuries increasing the former's prospects of a regular starting berth under Vilanova. Xavi said: "I'd advise Thiago to stay patient because he's a player who is bound to be a success at Barça. I think he is an extraordinary player. Thiago is not just a player for the future, but he is someone who can make an impact right now."
In addition to captaining Spain to the Under-21 triumph over Italy, Thiago also has the experience of playing twice for the all-conquering senior side. With Michael Carrick the only established central midfielder Moyes requires serious reinforcements in this department and Thiago's attacking style plus his ability to beat players suggests he would be an ideal addition to the Scot's squad.

That article basically says the opposite of what everyone else is saying. And everything we have heard, even from Thiago himself, who has given no support to any theory he might stay. Stupid Guardian.

Quick, an article says we might not sign him. Deny it! It's bollocks!

No it's just an attempt from Barca in my eyes to appear as if they're keeping him. Looks similar to Aguero saga.

Not giving up on this one yet. Come on Twitter. Give us something to counter act this Jamie Jackson article from the Guardian.

I reckon Jamie Jackson is just out of the loop. Prefer to go with Graham Hunter, who has actual La Liga and Barca sources.

Typical. One source says he's not coming as opposed to five other saying he's coming, it's off and all the pessimistic bollocks is back on!

Bah, the Guardian's gone to shit recently.

Translation: they didn't print that Thiago's signing for us immediately.

Cina you are probably to a certain extent, you do tend to get engrossed in the big transfers and expect hourly updates or confirmation that a deal has been concluded.

On a slightly different note, one of the issue is that United, in particularly Fergie would be cryptic when talking about transfers so that added to the frustration for us United fans.

Honestly, wise the feck up.

Just browsed Jamie Jackson on twitter and the Guardian. He never has any scoops. His last two big stories were Phil Neville to United and Fellaini to United.
