Thiago Alcantara at Bayern

Pogba and Morrison can't be put in the same category. We've seen what Pogba can do on the pitch, and we've seen what Morrison can do off it. Getting rid of him was the right decision, unlike Pogba.

I'm talking about in regards to talent coming through the academy. He had his behavioural problems but my point was in regards to what he could do on the pitch. They left for varying reasons but the talent was there.

Anybody that wishes a player ill purely because he chose another team, over ourselves, is a dreadful individual. Just how far we were down the line with this boy is yet to be determined. Passion is a great thing, but mixed with immaturity and the desire to be funnier than the next guy, really portrays us in a bad light. When you read the Bayern forums and see some of the re-quotes from here, it is a tad embarrassing.

Elitist I am not, a realist I am.

fair enough...I wasn't talking about people wanting ill of him, I was talking about being able to discuss the reason why he might not have joined us. Crossed wires...I suppose. It's ok to feel disappointment and pissed off, purely because you want the best for your team...but I stand corrected.

well..its a bit ironic for me. Ferguson always went on about youth, nurturing it, developing it, but actually very few have come through. You are right about Pogba and Ravel, the former of which I think the club made a mistake over.

Pogba was a young lad who knew what he wanted, it has payed off it takes guts for a kid to leave United. He has done well he is one of the best young midfielders in the world at a bi club with a bright future. Ravel's mentality was not right, players will not always make it regardless of talent we have seen countless cases. To lose the two best prospects (at the time) we have to look at ourselves who was the last quality prospect to become a feature for the first team and do very well. Welbeck and Cleverley have been solid.

Best of luck to him. Honestly, it's hard to blame him going to Bayern. He's reuniting with an old manager who he knows well and is going to a club who are much better than us at the moment and have a much better chance of success than us this season.

Some tongue in cheek comments are fine and I'll admit that I'd enjoy the irony if we were to somehow knock them out of the CL this season, but those who genuinely are desperate for him to fail or hope he rots on the bench are being laughably bitter.

Wish him all the best. He's a great player, and he'll hopefully entertain a lot of people for years to come.

So, in search of playing time, he goes to the one team in the world with a better mifield than Barca? And, as we all know, Pep was renowned for rotating his squad and playing lots of players while he was at Barca... The allure of playing for Pep was obviously huge, but it will only bring the drama back to FC Hollywood once again. So many players for so few spots.

We haven't done very well with players who played the cnut to leave their clubs. Guess what - they then play the cnut with you. See Flamini, van Persie et al.

It'd be interesting to know how far we actually went in this deal, but once Pep and Bayern were in he was always going there.

The fact is Pep is one of the people at Barcelona who brought him up from the u19s to the B team to the first team, and he pretty much swore by him.

I hope it doesn't work out purely because I want us to be successful in Europe (regardless of how realistic or not it is).

It'll be interesting to see which current Bayern player is frozen out/shifted to ensure he gets the game time he claimed to be high on his agenda. For me, that is the outstanding part of the deal considering Bayern's status as the current best team in Europe, and therefore the world.

Can't be bitter though considering we don't know how advanced United ever got in this deal. Plenty of conspiracies going around!

On to the next thread...Yohan Cabaye we love you!

Would have been too good to be true I guess. Annoyed I allowed myself to believe it was possible.

Why you don't mention the cnut of cnuts, Fabregas?

Gutted we missed out on him, but good luck to him if he thinks he's going to make it for the Spain's World Cup squad next year by going to Bayern.

 He came to us at 16 (when he wasn't contracted to Barca) and gave us 8 years great service before going back to his home town club. In stark contrast to van Cuntie who took wages for 7 years and delivered feck-all squared then ran his contract down and fecked off as soon as he had 18 injury-free months.

He was a cnut for leaving his club to get more money, and then became a double cnut for leaving the club to his home club. And engineered all those spectacles every time he met an another Barca player.

 Don't ever change.

Say what you want about van Persie, but Fabregas was just as much the cnut by how he ran out on Arsenal.

So the saga finally comes to an end. Where is the muppet training taking us all next?

I think we're all a bit lost without a new muppet target to gush over. The medias feeble attempt to convince us Ronaldo and Bale was on didn't work :(

He will play more than enough at bayern. He was supposedly pep's one request to the board. Doubt he would have made thiago such a big priority without intending to make him important.

Sadly for us, spot on. Thiago is a sure thing for Bayern :(

I just hope we have attractive back up options.

Great, my ban from the Thiago thread got over today, and the cnut goes and gets the thread locked.

I'm sure there is plenty of good options out there. We keep hearing that no one is available from some quarters and then you'll see city picking up a Toure, madrid getting modric's and bayern thiago and Martinez. There's see always options.

why are so many getting so worked up about a player that has decided to go to another club?
Did we even put in a bid?
He is a cracking player and will do well and he would of fitted in very well but his choice was to go to Munich.
Good luck to the lad, hope he does well.

 I got quoted on that bayernzone website, brilliant. Also I was really surprised seeing some of their comments at how happy they are to piss us off over Thiago, they sound like City fans disguised in Munich colours.

I haven't even been back to look but I said this the other day. They're obsessed with redcafe.

Don't fret, we'll pick him up next summer when he fails to play his quota of games. With Ronaldo, it's building up to a big summer - next summer

This reminds me of FM03 when I bought and signed (on a free) far too many good players to fit them all in. I ended up giving up and starting again.

Ozil, Benzema, Hazard, Lucas...now Thiago...just another summer transfer season of unrequited love.

Even Wayne Rooney wants out.

Who dreams of cold rainy days in Manchester I wonder?

Kevin Strootman? Leighton Baines?

Bayern just did a "introducing" type tweet for Thiago, and I was quite amazed that with around 10 replies, 6-7 of them were all basically saying we do not need him, and what a unnecessary signing etc.

The Bayern fans literally are not that excited over it. Quite staggering really when you think we are desperate for a player like him, where as the Bayern fans are not even bothered.

It's basically like United fans not getting excited over signing a centre half. We have an abundance of talent and cover in that area.

Strange one given he's moving for games.

The fecking bastard... how could he do it? I blame Rodney!
