Thiago Alcantara at Bayern

This is the best shot to not make unhappy anyone of their most important players. The two first formations works with Kroos in place of Thiago perfectly.

Exactly, I think so too. This is a FM signing if ever I saw one. Of course, when they go on to continued massive success, people will say the signing was justified. But they'd almost certainly have gone on to continued massive success anyway.

Counting feck!

Why the feck are we not an attractive proposition anymore?

Tbf if Pep is being genuine in saying he wants him and will play him, and there's no reason to think he's lying as that obv won't work long then it's not really a surprising move imo. We don't really have anything over Bayern atm where as they have a manager he's know most his football life and our currently the best team in the world. If you want to give yourself the best chance of breaking in to your national squad ahead of a world cup/ just generally wanting to progress, then getting regular game time for the current best team is the best way to do it pretty much.

As good Thiago is, this move will not benefit him, neither his club. He joined a team with a perfect balanced midfield (with a lot of quality players), champions of europe.

I dont know what the feck is thinking Pep, but i cant see it working. Accomodating Thiago into their first eleven (i guess they promise him that) will just bring headaches.

Good for us.

Not too fussed, Alcantara wasn't really what we needed, and Bayern under Pep won't reach the same heights they did with Heynckes.

Plenty of players who would be better suited to our system, speaking of Pogba his countryman Guilavogui is one to watch

nah...pissed of no end. Really thought he would be a bloody good adition to the team, something we have been crying out for. feck him...hope he keeps that bench really warm for next season. Bitter?..yeah..too fecking right...

Good for us how exactly ?

I cant see Bayern being stronger than last season... with Pep starting to modify what is "perfect", you can only go downhill.

So, good for us... more chances to win the champions league. (and for everybody else as well)

maybe im totally wrong haha... but i hope not.

Out of interest, is he actually tied to the Spanish national team? I mean, he's said himself that he doesn't see himself as a "Cule" necessarily (that whole "I want to do well in my career, not do well at Barcelona especially" thing), which might suggest he doesn't see himself as particularly "Spanish" except as having lived there for a while. I mean, his father is Brazilian and his brother has declared for Brazil. Is it possible that -- if he finds the route into the Spain team particularly arduous -- he might declare for Brazil like his brother instead? Especially especially now that he's not even living in Spain anymore.

He has played for Spain do he can't declare for Brazil now.

Agree with that. If we do the right business on our end, the tide will quickly turn.

We do need some reinforcements but Alcantara was hardly the best option.

Guardiola pretty much said that he is the missing piece of the puzzle and that thinks he will bring qualities to the team that no one else offers in that way.

So far it also looks like their most likely formation this year won't be the 4-2-3-1 of last season but a 4-1-4-1/4-5-1 and I'm pretty sure that Guardiola has an exact plan on how to use him in that.

When Guardiola in his first press conference said he only wants to change a few little things I knew he was just saying that to appease the fans and media pundits who were afraid he would change this winning team too much.

But if you ask me Guardiola isn't the sort of manager who will take over a team and then just play whatever works best, he is too much convinced about the way he thinks football is meant to be played to do something like this.

Not without reason he only recently told the press about how amazing it is to have such a intelligent and flexible squad, where Mandzukic could even play in defense and a lot of stuff that hints towards the fact that the players will have to adept to his system and not the other way around.

In an interview where he recently was asked if the players had still trouble understanding the way he wanted them to play football he said "The football I want to play is really easy. If we have the ball I want 11 players to attack and if we don't have the ball I want 11 players to defend."

Which also means in his mind there are no real defender, midfielders and strikers, they all have to do contribute to every phase of play and if you couple this with an attacking style where you value possession and position interchanging above anything else you will get his brand of tiki-taka total football.

In short Bayern will over the next coming years look more and more like Barcelona under Pep and less and less like Bayern under Heynckes, I have little doubt about that.

At least he didn't announce that he is signing for the European Champions on twitter.
Two fecking years in a row.

Anyway Thiago will do great and Pep will play him lots. They have the strongest and deepest midfield I've maybe ever seen. Their second choice midfield three is far superior to most in Europe.

I'm a lot more concerned about the PL than the CL tbh. The chance to win it without a decent midfield are slim to non existent

It is only natural to be bitter and wish a player is proven wrong when he's chosen someone else over your club.

Quite true. They only have themselves to blame for having got their hopes up groundlessly, on the back of an effing signature on a football, as well as assessing Thiago as the one and only messiah in world football that Manchester United need.

look, to use a pretty crap analogy..it's a bit like really fancying a woman you've been after for a few months only to find out that she actually fancies and starts to go out with a guy of equal standing you know but don't particular like...it just pisses you off. You get over it...but the initial rejection hurts a bit that is all...

Trur. Better have a look at Bayern forums where ppl start complaining at the board after SIGNING one if the best talents around like Alcantara. Its really only the United fans that are so spoilt

Are we and Bayern of equal standing?

The guy in this case has a new car, loads of cash and a flashier wardrobe. If Bayern ever showed interest he was going there i'm over it was resigned to it once Guardiola announced the signing.

spoilt? why the feck are we spoilt in wanting great players signing for the club? Doesn't every fan of whatever team they support want that?
