Well done Bayern staff. If You want a player, You put your money where your mouth is.

That deal was fast, You have to admit.

Let's say we weren't. Then what the feck have we been doing for the past month? Preparing our mega big for Cesc?

Apart from "True Corporation Plc" , "Aeroflot" and marketing ourselves around the world , not a lot.

Interesting. So I take it you are not too happy with him so far? I always felt he did pretty well for your club especially considering that he was most of the time played out of position. Especially after Messi got injured I thought he was a main contributer of carrying Barca over the line in the league together with Iniesta.

I've never liked Cesc and bias aside, he's not right for the club any longer. Should've been Cesc to you lot and Thiago still at Camp Nou but the board have a different agenda.

How do you have any clue how long this deal took to complete let alone if it was fast in comparison to other deals you know nothing about?

Moyes - We're working hard behind a scenes to get best players
Pep - I want Thiago.

Results: Deal done. No build up talk, no saga, no bullshit. They've got the talented player.

feck me, so there was no work being done on the deal until Pep announced he wanted him? Fact is you have no idea how long it took for Bayern to sign him, maybe they've been beavering away ever since they announced Pep as the manager is he rates him so highly. The saga wasn't United fault, it was the media, the fans and dickheads on twitter.

Number 6, that's the number of a starter

The number system at Bayern...

1 Manuel Neuer
4 Dante
5 Daniel van Buyten
6 Thiago Alcantara
7 Franck Ribéry
8 Javi Martinez
9 Mario Mandzukic
10 Arjen Robben
11 Xherdan Shaqiri
13 Rafinha
14 Claudio Pizarro
15 Jan Kirchhoff
17 Jérôme Boateng
19 Mario Götze
20 Patrick Weihrauch
21 Philipp Lahm
22 Tom Starke
23 Mitchell Weiser
24 Maximilian Riedmüller
25 Thomas Müller
26 Diego Contento
27 David Alaba
28 Holger Badstuber
30 Luiz Gustavo
31 Bastian Schweinsteiger
32 Lukas Raeder
34 Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
36 Emre Can
39 Toni Kroos

With the exception of Luiz Gustavo and Tom Starke, that has the usual 22 second goal keeper number (the 12 in the Bayern system is reserved for the fans) all player 20+ are players that played for the U23 and youth teams of Bayern. Players like Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Müller etc. never changed their numbers later...

I do not think it was meant like this first - Gomez, Gustavo and Tymo still got bigger numbers when they came - but lately Bayern really distributes the lower numbers to the "newcomers" and the higher numbers to the homegrown players.

 that makes it look so stupidly simple.

It makes it sound like Moyes was stood up in front of a crowd, making a passionate speech about bringing in the best players he can, when all of a sudden he is cut short mid-sentence. We pan past Moyes and see Pep Guardiola, the smooth-headed eagle, sitting behind him in a game of thrones type chair somewhere in the shadows, he says in a quiet voice that is still somehow louder than Moyes previous cries, "I want Thiago". There's an awkward silence but then everyone breaks into applause, Thiago jumps through a fake wall to the side of the stage and runs past a broken Moyes, towards Pep, who smiles and then powers off from his rocket throne chair and flies back to Germany with Thiago tagging along.

Thiago told in the press conference that he already talked with Guardiola prior to the U21 Euro. Pep told him he should concentrate on the tournament first and they will talk afterwards about his future and Thiago thanked Bayern for their patience, because they gave him enough time to make up his mind. Looks like Bayern were in the pole position the whole time thanks to Pep.

Also Rummenigge said that he talked to Rosell several times and that he got the impression that Barca would prefer to sell Thiago to Bayern, if they can't convince him to stay. Sounded a lot like the only other club really interested in signing him was Real Madrid and Barca clearly didn't want to loose Thiago to their domestic rival, so Bayern and Barca reached an agreement quickly after Thiago made his decision.

Which makes all these "we took too long/we are so slow/missing out as usual" comments look inconsiderate. For your second paragraph, his image rights holders said United had bid for him.

Bayern just did a "introducing" type tweet for Thiago, and I was quite amazed that with around 10 replies, 6-7 of them were all basically saying we do not need him, and what a unnecessary signing etc.

The Bayern fans literally are not that excited over it. Quite staggering really when you think we are desperate for a player like him, where as the Bayern fans are not even bothered.

You can hardly blame Bayern fans for scratching their heads over Thiago. They already had a very well oiled machine which only got better with Goetze.

If we're looking to unsettle a club perhaps we should try to settle Bayern with a cheeky bid for one of their midfielders.

We're signing him next year after he failed to play 60% for them.

I heard Bayern don't do release clauses? All he needed was Pep's word, and I reckon Pep will play him, unfortunately.

First rumours are out in Germany that Gustavo will be allowed to leave, now that we signed Thiago. Wouldn't be surprised about it and if maybe Emre Can goes out on loan for a year, our midfield should be fine.

If one of the top clubs promise him a regular starting spot, I think he would be interested. Young players like Shaqiri won't mind so much to get less playing time for another year and think it's worth it to work with Guardiola, petty sure it's exciting for the players and they will learn a lot. But Gustavo wants to start at the world cup for Brazil more than anything else, I guess, so he will be tempted and with the players we have available now, I doubt the club wouldn't let him leave.

Frankly, I'd prefer Shaqiri move on despite the opportunity to work under Pep. Suisse needed a more seasoned player ahead of the WC and I wager he'll have barely seen much in the way of playing time in 2 years since his move from Basel

Both Barca and Bayern both have a strong homegrown presence which is supplemented by the very best Foreign players. That is how we should do it also. We had Ravel and Pogba but they are gone, they could have been midfielders here for the next 5-10 years. So now we look at the next batch, we must be patient. Barca and Bayern did not happen overnight we have a good core now just a few positions need improving imo.

We did that with the Fergie babes. However for one reason or another we've not been able to emulate such success.

Doubt that will happen though. Rummenigge was pretty clear about the Shaqiri rumours, he wants to stay, the club want him to stay and Pep thinks he's a great talent.

Training at Bayern is tougher than the average league game, players said...

Would be interested to hear your opinion on Gustavo? Did find it interesting last summer Martinez was in effect bought for big money and has pretty much taken his place in the side

I know, the talent coming through is not good enough currently.

The main difference between the two is, Gustavo isn't as comfortable on the ball when under pressure and not as creative in his passing. I really like him though, great workrate, good at reading the game and intercepting passes, great tackler. He's a great defensive midfielder, good enough to play in any team in the world as long as it's not playing a crazy possession game like Barca or Bayern when van Gaal was manager.

I would not let go of Gustavo if I would be Guardiola - he is a tactical option in the team that is packed with a lot of offensive midfielders but lacks the defensive version. I liked how Heynckes often used him to close the match especially in the important matches. Like e.g. against Barcelona when he substituted him for Gomez and let Schweinsteiger play in a more offensive role. If you let Gustavo go - and I see both Martinez and Schweinsteiger in the starting formation even if Martinez might get a role as the center back - you just do not have such a good possibility.

I am sure that Gustavo is not totally satisfied with the role he might have next year - as sure as I know that he was not with the role he had last year even if he still played in a lot of matches and knew that he still was important.
