Not meaning to piss on the bonfire for those who like the X Factor, but for me the show has become more a competition between the judges, than a singing competition.
Louis Walsh will pick anybody who he thinks the public will vote for, even if it is for all the wrong reasons. It is now more designed to tweak the ego's of the judges, than it is to find the best singer.
I have not watched the show for the last couple of seasons for this reason, so now Cowell and the others have gone it may be different, i hope so for the singers sakes, but i have lost all interest personally.
Give me American Idol any day, a proper singing competition that incorporates a wide diversity of artists into a mainstream environment.The last season produced some truly spectacular talent and any one of the final 8 or 9 acts had enough to have won. that's what you get when you have people who know what it takes to be a superstar spotting the talent.
I shudder to think what type of abomination the American X factor will turn into, with the cringeworthy Paula Abdul and Cowell at the forefront.
Judges should be there to judge and nurture talent, nothing more. Once they have a personal and vested interest in the outcome other than finding the greatest talent, the show becomes more about them than the talent on show and in the end resembles little more than a farce imo.
Louis Walsh would have unashamedly voted out Luther Vandross, and kept in Wagner solely on the grounds of ' I have to stick with my own act' mentality.
Anyone who doubts this i remind you of the ridiculously untalented duo of Jedward making the final few weeks, and that says it all really.

Big mistake getting rid of Amelia who was a contender to win. Sophie is a great singer but won't have enough public appeal to content the competition.

They had been bigging her up for ages regarding how shy she was and had a kid to care for etc etc. Nobody knows anything about Sophie so her fan base is going to be small. Amelia was already a favourite.
This. She makes a genuine attempt to sound like a spastic when she sings, her vocal is vastly overrated. Misha B on the other hand is the strongest vocalist in there and is certainly one of the best pure singers over any X-Factor series.. she just needs to stick to singing and drop that idiotic Nicki Minaj thing she has going on.
It really is horses for courses. I like Janet's voice, find it very easy to listen to. Misha, on the other hand, pales in comparison to the artists she's trying to emulate. I find her voice very grating.
Also found Amelia's voice very grating, like she was really stretching for the high notes. Glad she's gone.
Even more so now I've watched her Xtra Factor interview. Totes annoy.
She is from Rhyl though, to be fair. It's pretty much the shittest place in Wales.

No way that Frankie lad should have gone through over James. Neither were great, but Frankie is just annoying and he is a far worse singer.
She's a bit OTT so naturally most hate her. There's someone every year who gets booed and abuse etc and it's her this year.
And why did Louis Walsh not even pick that Sami one in his final 4? To pick anyone ahead of her was ridiculous. She was the only one who could sing at all, nevermind the fact that she could win it. I hate Louis Walsh. He is a muppet.
I think Louis understands that an Overs will never win this thing. While they may have staunch fans, not enough will pick up the phone, I reckon. I know I never will. That's why he puts through "comedy" acts, to keep people watching and talking. He has his role to play in the pantomime and he's made a lot of cash doing it. Smart.

The acts knew they had one shot to handle the live shows and James didn't. I've heard a lot of people bang on about how a few acts were swallowed up by big productions and not given a chance to really show off their voices (2 Shoes, Jonjo, Marcus et al) but James can't claim that. All he had to do was sit there with his guitar and busk. Something he's probably very good at...but he fluffed it and off he went. You may not like Frankie's voice but least he kept his shit together.Despite not being a Frankie fan, I keep finding myself sticking up for him

Well I can't sing a note myself but I do think Beatles songs can be very tricky to cover for anyone and he should have been given something s bit more contemporary. Look at the mess Dannii made of Aiden last year!
Frankie is far more confident a personality, plus he's had Gary licking his arse throughout. He knew he was going through. James is less confident and has generally not been shown the same kind of hype and favouritism that Frankie, and to some extent, Craig have had.

I agree with you - not because I thought James was more attractive than Frankie ( although obviously I did ).
I've never liked males like Frankie with that rough fairground type pf appeal. No one knows where he's been for one thing!
Also I'm not sure why Gary is so far up his bottom? He must have an appeal I just can not see as it can't be for his ( lack of ) talent
