Gaming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

It'll be a real shame if they never make another Witcher game. Yes I know it's based on the books but they could happily invent a new story along the same lines.

They won't. Their next project is Cyberpunk 2077 and they'll be moving on to something different from there. There's zero chance of another Witcher game being made by CD Projekt but I don't doubt that other studios will try to acquire the rights to the series.

The games' story happens after the books, so that is not a problem, but CD has decided to go into some other direction. Which actually might be a good idea, they finish the Witcher project in a high and continue exploring other original IPs.

Novigrad is a wonderful looking place!

The feeling when you get to that place for the first time is pure bliss. Nothing in any other video has made me feel that sense of awe at everything going on around me.

Eww another studio getting it? They'd just make a mess of it. Nothing will come close to what CDPR have done

I'm sure the Cyberpunk games will be cool aswell, but there's just something majestic about the older style games. I would rather it stays dead than another studio reboot it though.

Have they ever said they won't do another Witcher game? I know they've said Geralt's story is done but that doesn't rule out another game with a different lead.

Of course but we've seen in most industries that whenever there's a successful and highly regarded title that former studio do not want to produce anymore, it can be taken over by someone who wants to continue - and it nearly always ends in tears.

Nah, there's no Witcher without the Witcher.

They did not rule this out completely though, they said they don't have anything planned and that there may never be another Witcher title but also said 'never say never'. I think chances are very slim though.

Talking about annoying enemies. These cnuts, when in a group, can feck off.

Not entirely correct - only thing they said is zero chance of another Geralt game.

That's so accurate. Remember the day one DLC for Mass Effect 3? It was a big part of the story as well but EA need to make their extra money so we were stuck with it.

I can't wait to see what CDPR do next. This thread makes me want to get into Witcher 3 again but I doubt I'll have the time for it. :(

The funny thing about that day one DLC is that it made me decide to pirate the game instead of paying for it, because feck EA.

CDPR's no DRM approach on the other hand and free DLC's etc. made me actively purchase TW3.

Jenny O' the Wood isn't that bad. Moon dust/Yrden with spectre oil and then just pummel her. When she splits in 3, same thing but keep quen up to stop them draining your health when they hit you. I beat her in seconds last time, then went down in one hit to the group of bandits near where you fight her.
It's comments like this that put me off starting this game. Got it for Christmas but have been repeatedly finding reasons not to play it as it just sounds like a bit of a head-feck. Tbh I've not played many RPGs. Is this game not going to be for me?

Just don't play it on the hardest difficulty. You'll be grand.

I mean, you're only missing out on one of the greatest games of all time. No biggy.

It's not that hard or confusing once you've played a few hours. And no, you don't need to use all the extra alchemy/oil stuff if you don't want to. Most of the time I forgot about them tbh.

Cheers lads - got a couple of games on the go right now but I'll push it up the list of priorities, shake off the doubts and just plunge head first into it. I've only ever heard gushing praise and the fact that people are still raving about it now speaks volumes.

I'll be back, sleep deprived and totally consumed in the very near future, I'm sure!

I'd recommend the hardest difficulty. I'm having a blast, and it gets a lot easier later on. As long as I keep my wits about me (and my Quen active ;)), I can chop through Drowners like butter.

You can up and down the difficulty during the game anyway, it'll only affect the achievements/trophies. No biggie if you're not a trophy whore..

I agree, the initial game when you're learning is quite complicated and difficult, but once you hit level 10 or so it gets easier.

Have you bumped into Nekkers yet Woodzy?

Well I generally don't replay games, think this is maybe my 4th playthrough I'm going into, back shelving loads of games I've never completed in favour or going through this again. However, I haven't even touched the 2 DLC's yet, I'm saving them

Yeah, got myself the GOTY copy, so I've got all the DLC ready as well. It was only like £25, so sounds like I've nabbed a bargain. Just need to finish Uncharted 4 and I'll get started.

If you're on your 4th playthrough then you've probably spent as much time in that world as you have the real world. Are the lines between real and fantasy not starting to blur?!

Not really, haven't played the witcher for a while. But I've managed to slay a boss at work recently, also stomped a mudhole in some nekkers, and I've just upgraded my Igni so cooking is much quicker.

Ah you'll be grand. It's nowhere near as complicated as it sounds. It can be as deep as you want it to be.

About two weeks after it came out I was on a bus going over a mountain through a small village when I looked off to the side and wondered if that area in the distance was reachable. It was at that point I realised I'd been playing way too much.

Too much or not enough? If you'd played enough you'd have known if that area was reachable, which it probably was. You must go there!

I would, but I seem to be suffering a bug where no matter how much I whistle Roach won't turn up. I'll be damned if I'm walking and I can't find anything to fast travel from.

I've bumped into Nekkers. I think i've taken out a nest actually. They don't seem too difficult (although i'm not having much trouble with anything out in the wild at the moment). I find Water Hags more difficult because of they hit hard and the projectiles, but you usually only get one of those with groups of Drowners. A group of Wraiths are definitely the biggest pain in the arse I have found.

I'm level 11 at the moment, and have just met Triss in Novigrad (lol at American accent). I'm finding most things a breeze, providing I remember to Quen up first. I have attempted a couple of higher level Witcher contracts though and got my arse handed to me, so essentially i'm coping fine for my level which I guess is fair.

Make sure anything below your level or at your level you do before anything above your level, if you come back to these when you're over levelled you get basically no experience for them.

I'm using a mod that I picked up from a recommended mod list that'll give me full XP regardless. The guy that wrote the list mentioned it that it was a fairly broken game mechanic, which I half agree with. I guess it's to encourage you to complete side quests when they were 'intended' to be completed.

My thinking was that I don't have a huge amount of time to commit to the game, and i'd rather get the main story out of the way first without being punished. I guess it won't be very much fun when i'm level 30, slicing through a few level 2 drowners just to get some shitty sword, but there you go.
