MaybeI don't know how to describe it. Feels clunky to me, especially sword attacks. Maybe I suck at chaining them?
Could your framerate be an issue? What system are you playing on?

Nah I'm playing with 60 fps. I thinkMaybeActually TW3 has very fluid combat when you're used to it and know when to attack, dodge, use signs, etc.

Those ten hours have mainly been spent wandering around and picking plants, killing geese and robbing peasants of what little they have...I've only done a few missions...the scale of it is unreal...It's a cracking game mate. This said I've barely played more than 20 hours on it and I've had it for three months.
I have too many games and feck all time to play even half of them
Biggest tip for people finding combat hard would be get the alternate shield sign. Let's you regenerate health every time you're attacked whilst using it. Game changer
How do you get this?
It'll click for you mate, especially as you get the more interesting cards![]()
All of the games take place after the books, and since Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri are pretty much the three main characters in the book saga you'll inevitably encounter some spoilers. However, several major characters and events that drive the plot, especially later on in the saga don't seem to be mentioned in the games, so there's a lot of value in reading the books even if you've completed all the games. Still waiting on the official translation of the last book so I don't even know how they end.Started a new play through on PC. Already recognise a few names from the first book in the 'Devil by the Well' quest.
I have long way to go before I get close to where I was on my Xbox play through (I'd just met the three witches, which is not far at all i'm guessing).
Out of interest, is it safe to play the game without the books being spoilt at all?
They're two of my favorite DLCs I can think of. One of them might be my favorite questline in the game, though I won't say which...Guys is there any reason for getting the normal version over the game of the year version? I'm planning to buy this game but as I don't normally play RPG games I'm not sure it the extra $13 for the game of the year version will be worth it.
Yes, one of the last big patches enabled DS4 support. Which threw me for one hell of a loop that consisted of hours of Phil Jones-face level of exasperation since I was using a DS4 emulating program and didn't know about that detail. It had Geralt stumbling around like a baby deer on an acid trip. So, i got this on PS4 back when it released but only got to like the Griffin fight (just past that actually). I stopped playing mostly because i'm not near my PS4 enough to really have a good session in the game, and partly cos i was a bit shit at the combat. So i'm now thinking, i have my laptop with me like all the time and it ought to run the game no problem. With the sale that's on, i'm finding it pretty much impossible to resist jumping in on PC with the GOTY edition (and therefore all the DLC included). So, i just wanted to ask if the PC version supports the DS4 controller and er, any tips for the combat![]()
I just can't get into this game. I've restarted it about 3 times because I'd reach around the Griffin part and stop for a few months before deciding to pick it up again. I honestly think it's the combat making me lose interest.

I was the same, and didn't like the game at all.
Think i'm just not patient enough, i just want to hack and slash them in the face...
Didn't work, so i gave them the game back. The guy that sold it to me, was so shocked that in sympathy he gave me 100% back
After reading everyone's comment here and other places, i think i maybe should have given it another chance, and try to be more patient in the fights.
Which which?Finished a lot of quests and now I'm level 13. It does just get better and better, it's great fun and there's just so much choice. Shame I wont be having time to play until the summer, but then again I have something to look forward to.
Also, I shagged the witch. Didn't see that coming, so that was a nice touch.
They do appear but like with all difficulties you need to go to bounty boards first to get them.I'm so into this game now. I feel like I could just play it forever (which is probably how long it's going to take to get through it at the rate i'm going). I've just been given the quest to go visit the Bloody Baron (which is not far at all), yet i've clocked up about 6 or 7 hours. I'm still miles away until the Ladies of the Wood quest as well, which is where I left off last time (and is also not far at all).
I'm also stressing over the same old stuff I did last time... which items to sell, which to dismantle, where I can find the best gear, where to spend my ability points (which I haven't spent a single one yet).
Any answers to these would be appreciated.
Also, on Death March, do the question marks not appear on the map for points of interest?
Did anyone actually use anything other the Witcher sets and gear?
I was crushing on this heavy set that looked like something out of a renaissance fair from a DLC.Did anyone actually use anything other the Witcher sets and gear?
Nothing wrong with playing from the start again. It's worth it.I got this on release. Played it none stop for like 2 weeks or so and was absolutely loving it. For some reason I ended up putting it to one side and now I can't go back to my save because I have forgotten to much. I'm a fool.
That does feel like the best option at this point. The game is so huge that it feels like I have to mentally prepare myself for the commitment I'm about to undertake .Nothing wrong with playing from the start again. It's worth it.
Yeah, I considered it too, but I really don't think I could take a third time without tainting my experience in some way. Maybe I'll come back to it in a year or so and replay. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see an RPG (or even any genre of game) top it for a while.I can't really come to terms with the thought that I'll never play it again, but I doubt I have the energy and mental dedication to play it through fully for a third time.
Just did Witcher contracts for the Shrieker and the Grave Hag and had so much fun. Got some serious Dark Souls vibes from them as far as difficulty goes. What on earth would I do without Quen?
Alchemy is a must for the highest difficulty. The decoctions are vital at keeping you alive since you take so much damage.
I barely used alchemy, if at all on my first play through as it seemed a right arse on, played through on death march (highest difficulty too) and got my arse proper handed to me off random encounters a few times, nothing worse than being unprepared and running into drowners so you try to run away and run into some water hags so you peg it again and run into ghouls, so again you run and somehow you manage to get mixed in between all of them and have no chance. Oh the good times!
Can't wait for my next play through of this.
Just rewatched all the trailers the other day too. The cinematic ones are epic. I'd watch a film if it was all made like that. The hearts of stone DLC trailer is also awesome.
Man, I might just book a week off work off for another play through!!
Add the Ekimmara decoction (every hit regenerates health) to that and you're pissing through enemies.Severance rune stone (from Hearts of Stone DLC merchant) + whirl =
Worth every penny that cnut was for that rune alone.
