Gaming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Yep I might wait a while before getting down to Hearts of Stone (I am doing DLCs in reverse order) - it's GTA V's third anniversary so I need to replay that plus there'll be a lot of stuff in the next couple of months.
Off topic but are GTA planning to release anything for this? I've been burning for a new MP heist for ages.

No sexy time with the posh twins? Shit game.

The only reason I continued that quest.

There is a texture mod that will show up as one of the most endorsed. There are several graphics mods. Some just change the colors, others are a complete overhaul. I use the one with the 'gritty' settings. You can use one that just tones down the yellow for a less flashy pallet, or a Fantasy look, and others.

I have about 30-35 mods running now. Though I'm turning off auto apply oils and realistic potions because they get on my nerves. There is a complete overhaul called Witcher Enhanced, but they still improving it, so I just used The Enhancement System. It overhauls battle mechanics, spells, Gwent, etc. I recommend these:
  • Signs overhaul
  • More Horses
  • Leave Roach Alone
  • Gear Improvements Last Longer
  • No item level requirements
  • Better Icons
  • Lore-Friendly Witchers (makes Geralt paler with brighter eyes, as he should look)
  • Always Full Exp
  • Auto-Loot
  • High-Quality Faces
  • More Shadows
  • Fast Travel from anywhere
  • All quest objectives on map
  • Over 9000 weight limit
  • The Witcher 3D Reworked Project
  • Better Trophies
  • Script Merger
  • E3FX graphics overhaul
  • The texture one...forgot the name
The ones in bold I'd consider essential for immersion, or, like in auto loot's case, convenience. There's others like the texture one that don't show up in mod manager because I did them manually, so I'm forgetting a few of them.

I'm a dumb dumb when it comes to mods, how do I get this to work?

There's no "how to" .... :nervous:

It seems you'd need to replace .ws files with the new ones, delete any merged scripts, and re-run Script Merger to detect any conflicts. If they cannot be resolved then you might have to live without those mods for a while.

That's just a first glance at it. Haven't really bothered with it though. I'm fine with v1.24 for the foreseeable future.

I miss playing this game so much that's its sad. It actually upsets me a lot that I'm done with it. It took over my life last summer when I was done with uni and spent the whole summer playing it and watching the Copa America at ungodly hours.

I've been done with it since August when I finished Blood and Wine and I can't fathom the thought that I'll have to live without this game basically for the rest of my life .

I'm seriously considering a full third playthrough.

Has anyone checked out their playtime on PS4? I remember it being bugged before but it seems to have been patched.

Not sure if its accurate....as my number is very high :nervous:

Playing through the main game + the two expansions is on my to do list. Might wait until I upgrade my graphics card though.

CD Projekt may be preparing to defend against a hostile takeover#1
CD Projekt Red has called for the extraordinary general meeting of shareholders to be held on November 29th.

According to the schedule, there are 3 points that will be covered:

1. Vote on whether or not to allow the company to buy back part of its own shares for 250 million PLN ($64 million)

2. Vote on whether to merge CD Projekt Brands (fully owned subsidiary that holds trademarks to the Witcher and Cyberpunk games) into the holding company

3. Vote on the change of the company's statute.

Now, the 1st and 3rd point seem to be the most interesting, particularly the last one. The proposed change will put restrictions on the voting ability of shareholders who exceed 20% of the ownership in the company. It will only be lifted if said shareholder makes a call to buy all of the remaining shares for a set price and exceeds 50% of the total vote.

According to the company's board, this is designed to protect the interest of all shareholders in case of a major investor who would try to aquire remaining shares without offering "a decent price".

Polish media (and some investors) speculate, whether or not it's a preemptive measure or if potential hostile takeover is on the horizon.

The decision to buy back some of its own shares would also make a lot of sense in that situation.

EA coming to ruin another studio??

Please no. BioWare is now a bit shit because of that, lets hope it doesn't happen to CD Red too.

I still haven't played the Blood and Wine expansion, I finished playing Heart of Stone a few days before it came out but moved on to other games and still haven't gone back, I really should though as The Witcher 3 is an amazing game on almost every level.

Wondering if it's just Gwent on the beta or it also includes the alleged story/questline that supposedly supports it. Can't wait for the full thing to play on PS4.

What alleged quest/storyline? I've heard nothing and couldn't imagine how that would work?

Supposedly, the game has a few single player campaigns for each factions. Of course, it isn't 3D roaming or anything, I found the source I got it from:
Each Gwent campaign features its own storyline, lead character, and voice acting. Players will be dropped into a huge isometric map with 2D avatars, and if you explore every nook and cranny you’ll find side quests as well. Completing missions on the map unlocks additional cards for your deck, and considering there will be multiple “story packs” to work through, finishing them will keep players busy for a long time.

It is CDPR after all, promising us Gwent and only giving us Gwent wouldn't be like them. They obviously need to go above and beyond.

Is GWENT a free game?
GWENT is a free to play game offering optional in-game purchases.

The in-game purchases could be potential questlines. Not sure what else it could be. Particular card decks?

Yes, you should. It's hugely entertaining, basically 20+ hours that are on par with or better than the best parts of Wild Hunt IMO. And new Gwent music and a new faction! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Northern Realms still OP with those spy and decoy combos.
Aye, Northern Realms is really strong allround. I ended up playing almost nothing but Nilfgaard though, thought they became even more OP with a complete deck. Re-playing W3 from the start now and despite having Gwent Difficulty set to hard, almost no-one can challenge even a half finished Northern Realms deck, bit disappointing. Against the AI it becomes too easy to sucker them into wasting their best cards while you throw a round if necessary. Looking forward to playing against human opponents online!

Yep, I always found against the Monster deck especially that throwing a round was majorly important. Unless you have loads of weather cards to stop the mass stacking of seige/melee then suckering them into wasting cards was important. bn

Reasons why I die playing the Witcher 3:

Single boss killed me - 5%
Group clusterf*ck - 10%
Fall damage - 85%

I don't think I've ever died from falling

Usually die because I learn the attack pattern, do it perfectly, they get low health and I try one extra attack instead of my normal sequence and get feckin marmalised for it.

EA coming to ruin another studio??[/QUOTE]

Fecking hell, can't EA keep their dirty paws of ANYTHING? If they buy CD Projekt Red, expect another great IP go straight down the drain. If that's the case expect the following to happen

1. Next Witcher being rushed out half arsed to meet some brain dead deadline
2. Micro transactions out the ass and content on the disc locked as DLC or some shit like "Best Buy exclusive"
3. Complete casualization of the game. If it's to complex for a 10 year old, it's to complex period and it needs to be dumbed down to "reach a wider audience"

Umm no more witcher games, next is cyberpunk from cdpr.

Also hasn't this been shown to be bs and it's just cdpr taking measures incase someone does try a takeover?

Just started this. about 20 hours playing time, and I still feel I'm barely starting to get it. Never really played any "medieval" RPGs before, so it's tough. I love it in a way, but at the same time, it's just so big that I get dizzy just thinking about it! And it's bloody difficult.
That said, I gotta say this is probably the most visually stunning, well crafted game I've ever played.
