Gaming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Thought the creator of Hair works on everything bar Geralt abandoned the mod? I can't get it to work.

Just wait until you get to Novigrad! You'll see a 15-20fps dip. I get a regular 60 @ 1080p everywhere but Noivgrad. When it's night time + raining, oh boy. :(

Also, another mod that's a must have.

I might have gone overboard with mods.

Happened with Skyrim too, once you start modding the only limit is until you start getting conflicts, shame there's not a 4k whale overhaul. Free Willy has nothing on Witcher though.

Thanks for the list of mods! I wonder if I'll actually 100% complete the game this time.

Cheers I'll hop on Nexus tonight and install those, the fast travel from anywhere is needed for me after a few hours playtime already!
It's best to keep in mind that the game might count on you crossing an area to trigger and event which you might miss if you fast travel from anywhere. I used it myself and never had an issue with it, but I took extra care when I just came from a mission objective and was leaving a secluded area.

Another mod I'd recommend is darker nights, but that's a personal visual preference. Novigrad all lit up in the distance on a dark night is a thing of beauty. And auto loot on herbs is a must.

FFS...another fat patch came out, 1.3. Now I can't even start it nor the script merger program.

I was just in the middle of The Bloody Baron arc...

@TheNewEra hold off on those mods. CDPR just torpedoed them. Or turn of automatic updates.

Already installed but I can wait a few months :P

Will get that one

Love this game to bits, I wish there was another expansion coming out! Any news on witcher 4?

There won't be another game with Geralt as the main character. That's already been stated. If they do ever make a Witcher 4 it will either focus on the story of another character, (maybe Ciri in some way or Vesemir when he was younger?) or something new completely.

Oh really? that sucks. Well a new character wouldn't bother me, as long as it's a similar style of game.

I know almost everybody will disagree with this comment and it goes against everything The Witcher is...

but I really would have liked if you could create your own character main character, and even go down the route of not using Witcher signs at all (basically, Skyrim).

Yeah that would have been pretty pointless imo as Geralt is key to the whole game.

@Organic Potatoes Yeah I am using GOG too and I tried rolling it back but it still doesn't load with the scripts selected so I am just carrying on without em!

Finishing Blood & Wine now, its main story is better than Witcher 3 main story and I absolutey loved it. I still need to play Hearts of Stone but I'm growing increasingly uncomfortable with the fact that Witcher is over. I might tune in to play it over from the start again, won't be able to survive without this world.

Are you sure you don't mean Hearts of Stone? Hearts of Stone is the first expansion, Blood and Wine is the second. Bit strange if you started with the second.

Most likely never, Geralt's saga is over. Their entire focus is now on Cyberpunk 2077, which I wouldn't expect for another 2-3 years at least. Possibly even longer, because they know it'll have to be something amazing to keep up with the hype The Witcher 3 has garnered.

So... you want the next Bethesda release? CDPR probably won't ever make a game like this, they're very plot driven, with meticulous attention to detail and character development. Bethesda are where it's at for your own blank canvas to roam around and do whatever the feck you please.

I started with the second, it was more attractive for me because when HoS came out I still hadn't finished the main story and B&W has new world. These stories are supposed to be separate anyway.

But Blood & Wine offers a genuine end to the game, with Geralt retiring at Corvo Bianco alongside the romance option. Fair enough though, they are definitely separate and can be played that way.

I'm quite interested you find the Blood and Wine a better main story than the base game though. I absolutely loved the location, the side quests, and the ending but for CDPR's standard I felt the main quest was a little too contrived, and a little one-dimensional. I assume the reason was because it wanted to try and force the 'good ending' onto the player to have them finish the game with a smile on their face.

The good news is though, I reckon you'll be absolutely blown away by the Hearts of Stone expansion. It's a little shorter than Blood and Wine but oh my, I think the main story here is one of the best I've ever played.

I did not know it'd offer the definite ending when I got down to it though. Loving what you said about HoS, I wanted to put this aside for a while but I think this means I'll start it next week.

There is also a creepy nod to the main antagonist from Hearts of Stone in Blood & Wine that makes a certain side quest all that much better.

You'd have to play HoS to get the reference. DO IT!!
I'll probably buy it this week, going to finish all side quests I have not done yet and maybe give GTAV some time as its third anniversary.

Just had my first couple of hours on this having bought GOTY edition at the weekend.

Really enjoying it so far. Just not sure I'll finish it within the next two years based upon the amount of content.

Those DLC quests, do you actually need to download them or will they appear on the map anyway when you approach the area where they are located? I am now in the process of finishing up all side tasks before getting down to Hearts of Stone (this is Witcher 3 which probably means that I'll spend the next 25 hours doing great side missions). Then I'll start New Game+ and take a game in a slightly different direction, good thing with me is that I barely remember anything from the main game anymore as it's been over a year since I completed it - it's like that with all entertainment which is why I can easily watch movies three times and still not remember the ending 6 months after last viewing.

I've still got Blood & Wine to do but I think I'll leave it for now whilst I try out other games. I also prefer the thought of having one more massive Witcher adventure waiting there for me when I get the urge to play it rather than finishing up for good now.

Yep I might wait a while before getting down to Hearts of Stone (I am doing DLCs in reverse order) - it's GTA V's third anniversary so I need to replay that plus there'll be a lot of stuff in the next couple of months.

Yeah, once you've paid for them you have to click on them in the add on's area and it installs them separately.

But I mean the free ones, there are several quests available there for free.

Very glad they have released a GotY Version.

Memory is still fresh so I might wait a year or 2 but as I never played any of the DLCs I am looking very much Forward to it.
The same can be said for Skyrim, Dark Souls 2 and Bloodborne.
