Gaming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Have you crafted the Witcher Gear? Have you invested in a good skill point set? Do you have any upgraded good potions/decoctions/bombs? [latter aren't really useful here] If not, ensure those things are met.

Eredin genuinely caused me zero issues on death march. I use a quick attack build with some quen sign intensity and some points invested in alchemy tolerance so I can use superior thunderbolt, and the ekimara and katakan decoctions.

I have so many issues with Wraiths. I out level two of my contracts but I barely touch them.

Hearts of Stone is the first official expansion pack for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt -- an award-winning role-playing game set in a vast fantasy open world.

Step again into the shoes of Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster slayer, this time hired to defeat a ruthless bandit captain, Olgierd von Everec, a man who possesses the power of immortality.

  • Defeat your foes using a variety of new weapons and enchanted artifacts.
  • Level up even further by fulfilling new monster contracts and battling unique enemies.
  • Enjoy some leisure time playing with new gwent cards, or engage in a new romantic relationship.

Got back to this to finish it. Awesome 4 months with this and I imagine well over 100 hours (pity the in-game clock is broken). I am just finishing Battle of Kaer Morhen, not much left afterwards and I have finished most side quests already.

That frog things reminds me of the boogeyman from Nightmare Before Christmas for some reason.

I've just taken Uma to Yenniffer to list the curse, how long is there to go still?

If you've finished all the side quest and witcher contracts - not long. If you were just doing main quests and on normal difficulty... maybe another 3 hours or so?

A fair while. I'd say maybe 20 hours worth of main and directly related side quests left.

eh?
Kaer Morhen stuff: Lambert, eskel quests + getting drunk
Isle of Mists
Battle of Kaer Morhen
Imlerith battle
Novigrad; help Yen, Triss, Ciri, Avallac'h
Skellige: help ermion, Crach, find the sunstone, go to Avallac'h's lab
Caranthir fight
eredin fight
epilogue
even if you rush all of that, that's still around 10-15 hours worth of gameplay.

I assumed he'd done the Battle of Kaer Morhen - if he has, then the rest of that stuff really doesn't take that long if you're fast travelling everywhere and trying to do it as quickly as possible

definitely playing new game plus when I beat the game. one of the best, most engrossing games I've played.

I am just past the battle of Kaer Morhen. I have been hearing around 5-6 hours left for me. Can I still go and finish side quests after the main story is complete?

Looking forward to the expansion pack. There have been rumours that it could add new locations which would be just sweet. Then again there are still areas of the current map that I have not yet visited.

Has anybody discovered all the question marks ? That must take ages!

Yeah, but only the ones that aren't dependent on the end game (so anything to do with Radovid really)

5-6 hours sounds about right.

The first expansion just takes place around the outskirts of Velen and Novigrad, but more directly in Oxenfurt which I'm hoping they'll expand as it is a bit bare and you barely need to go there in game bar two missions.

The second expansion will include a new area called Toussaint which should be amazing, it's described as a glorious, fairytale-like castle which is pretty much the idyllic Valhalla for honourable Knights. Pretty sure it's inspired by southern France too, so a Witcher ran Disneyland seems fair.

As for the ?'s, @Adam-Utd just don't bother. Around 70% of them are smuggler's caches which is worthless seeing how ineffective loot/looting is in this game.

Heard a lot of good things about this game but i've never played any of the older games, is it like MGS where it would be prefereble to know the story of the older games?

No, I never played the other ones and this became one of the best games I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Just check out some Youtube vids to get an overview.

I'd never played any previous games either and have thoroughly enjoyed it. One of the very best games ever IMO.

I don't think that should even be up for debate. I've refused to finish it because I want it to last longer.

Aye. The best game I ever played. I almost don't want it to finish but it will very soon, I finished Bald Mountain quest already and defeated the bad, bad guy. Probably 3 hours left :(

I like how the story accelerates towards the ending. This game really has it all - very good main plot with multiple endings fully dependant on how you choose to play the game, gazillion of fascinating side quests - some of which would make very good separate games and would probably be sold as paid DLCs by vast majority of modern developers, possibly the best (and probably one of the most diverse) open world ever created and basically the only one in which nearly all characters feel real - even random folk you stumble upon while travelling from one spot to another. The amount of effort that had gone into this game is incredible and what is the most impressive is that it would have still sold millions without half the content and likewise if they decided to make it paid.

I will definitely be back in this world, both after the release of future DLCs and next year to complete the game once more when I get the time. This is simply masterpiece.

I wouldn't go that far, although it is one of (if not the) best game ever when it comes to making a believable, breathing, realistic feeling open world fantasy game. Walking through Novigrad, and then walking through <insert Bethesda game city here>... The difference is just night and day.

(I still prefer Witcher 2, though).

I gave up half way through Witcher 2... I could have continued playing this game for another 100 hours if the content was there.

For me, definitely one of the best games I've ever played.

I genuinely struggle to think of a better game than Witcher 3.

It's hands down the best Western RPG ever made, at least.

Planescape Torment :)

It's definitely a very good game with some great moments, though. I'll probably revisit it when I get the Steam Controller next month.

I'm on Final Preparations quest, how lont until the end hours wise? Should I prepare myself to have one evening run or split this into two or three?

I have so many issues with Wraiths. I out level two of my contracts but I barely touch them.

Wraiths aren't hard to be honest. You need the Yrden and Quen signs to help you defeat the wraith. First place the Yrden sign on the floor and then the alternate Yrden sign that shocks the wraith. Then use Quen to create a shield around you and you can then attack the Wraith after it gets shocked by the Yrden alternative sign.

If you have Wraith Essence potion, put that on your sword before you fight the Wraith and it will help to kill the wraith a lot quicker.

You can do it in one long evening but the Final Preparations quest involves quite a bit of running around, fetching this and that, settling scores and whatnot.

I see. I am in the middle of it anyway, got done with Avallach and only Triss and Ciri left. I will probably split it into two evenings or even have an extended run tomorrow, it's weekend and United don't play until 6.30.

Even if you don't think that this is essentially the best game ever (it is) it really has set the standard really high for games to follow. In the same way Skyrim blew us away, The Witcher 3 has done it too, and then some.

Just finished this, got a very good ending I think. I seem to still have a lot of side quests and contracts to complete and I will definitely revisit the game once DLC is out.

I think it's the best game I ever played. Delighted with the 100+ hours and 4 months I spent playing this.

This is on sale on Steam. Pity I'm playing Phantom Pain. There's only a finite number of hours in a day.

anyone encountered a bug with the velen horse race quest? it just stopped showing it on my quest list all of the sudden.
