Gaming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

I am currently in a mission

Where I have to find a way to break Uma's spell

How far am I from the ending? I assume that quite some distance, correct? 20 hours or so.

You're getting there.

Not 20 I wouldn't think.

More like 10-12.

Wow, definitely thought that'd be longer. Assuming you mean without side missions, which are going to consume 8-10 hours easily?

You can definitely pad it out with more side missions, but it's home straight at far as the story is concerned.

Tbf, 10-12 hours is as long as some standalone games. It's a decent wedge of gameplay left no doubt.

Maybe I'm underestimating, it's a few weeks since I finished it now.

I have another bugged quest. In Wolf's Clothing. Won't let me interact with the key in the cave. I think because I found that cave earlier on in the mission. F*cking game.

No launch date yet but a cool thing to add considering how many people asked for it.

Good stuff. I'll do my NG+ when Steam Link finally releases.

I'm finding the further i progress, the buggier the game is getting and it's ruining the game-play for me.

Yep. Gonna bug the hell out of me though.

If I remember correctly something weird happened on that quest with me, however there is another side quest linked with the same stuff iirc, I had to get that side quest at the same time and do both.

Can someone give a rough guess as to how far in I am for the story? I'm level 12 now

Just did the dream woman mission in Novigrad and have been told to go an inn which is now owned by Dandelion

This game is so big and well made. I think I've played 70 hours now and there's so much to do. Haven't even been to Skellige yet

You are still in Act 1, with a decent amount of it left too.

70 hours of playtime and only in act 1...quite remarkable how big this game is, not a moment of boredom either

I wish it told you the playtime properly on PS4. I know I'm at 60-70 hours because I've kept track but it would be nice to have a accurate number. It's such a simple thing as well so I don't know why they wouldn't fix it. I mean it's a positive point for them

The trailer for this looks amazing and I will play it. However the next Dragon Age will piss on this.
Was looking at the front page and saw this and it reminded me of what I thought would happen to the two franchises. I played 130 hours of Dragon Age:Inquisition and thought there was no way that Witcher 3 could be that much better after all the rave reviews it got. DA:I has been my go to game whenever I've felt bored previously but I played it a couple of days ago and came to a sad realisation of how shit it is now that I've played Witcher 3. Bioware are very lucky that it came out first as otherwise it would have gotten a lot of criticism.

It's a shame that Bioware/EA have taken such a strange step in their game production. Dragon Age 1 was fantastic, DA2 I thought was enjoyable as well despite the harsh criticism (they had been given a deadline by EA) but DA3 was meant to be a return to the fundamentals. If that is the best they can come up with then Bioware as a studio is like Rooney.

I wonder if they will have a serious look at Mass Effect 4 now considering how the bar has been raised by Witcher 3 so much.

Feck me the rooney bashing never stops on this forum. Next you'll be saying the witcher is like herrera

Just got this game and about to start it. Enjoyed DAI for about 70 hours but it got very samey. Neared completion but got a bit bored in the end...

The rooney thing was just a joke mate

Edit - To explain better, Rooney is seen as a man with great promise who failed to deliver which is why I compared him to Bioware. Was just a light joke

They still got a fair bit for obvious reasons. Don't think timing would've changed much really - many people would still play (or at least try) both. You don't need to have played Wild Hunt to see that the world in DAI is boring and empty.

I know this isn't really important in anyway and you can't draw any conclusions from it, but I still think the number of posts in each thread pretty much underlines the difference in quality.
DAI: 826 posts
This thread: 1743, and still very active.

You say that...but I myself thought DA:I was a well built world after playing it. It was only after I played Witcher that I realised how shallow it was.

Edit -
The DLC support by Bioware looks like a complete joke compared to what CD Project have shown as well. I at first considered all the free DLC to just be a good PR move but when they started giving release estimations for the proper expansion packs (October and next year I think?) I thought they were actually trying to be better. I followed the DA reddit for months and all they've released is crappy cash grab DLC or armour packs with no date for when the real DLC will come out.

And that was without MP on TW3's part.

The Witcher is better for me so far but Dragon Age was still a bloody good game. We are a bit spoilt this year.

So, finally stopped dicking about in Velen/No Man's Land (as I seemed to have ran out of quests to do there for the time being) and have traveled to Irish Skyrim... 'tis a beautiful looking place.

I am yet to be bored with this game, and I've sank countless hours into it.

I lost interest in DA:I about 30%-ish of the way through. Wasn't for me.

Shame. It only actually gets really good after around 30-40 hours! Turns great then.
Really? I guess I'll have to get back into it soon, but with NG+ so close and me finally clicking with Arkham Knight I can see myself delaying it for a while.

They turn the villain into a bumbling idiot. Fantastic intro for him, everything about his development is all down hill from there. I find with Dragon Age, if you stick to the main story & story driven side missions it can really fun but the MMO esque fetch quests scattered all over the place is mind numbing, not to mention the static world. It feels so soulless compared to TW3.

I don't think you'll enjoy it @DWelbz19 after playing The Witcher 3 but no harm in trying to pick it up again.

In regards to The Witcher, is there a set date for next month's DLC? Cos' Metal Gear is dropping on the 1st of September. Hope they don't clash! :nervous:

I sort of think that was my issue in the first place, really. I sort of started with DA:I a week or so before The Witcher came out, wasn't wowed and then dropped it for TW3.
The next (and final) DLC is the New Game+ which I imagine will be out sometime this coming week. The first expansion is set for October.

Oh October, cool. Thought it was next month.

Yes. It still suffers from all those many pointless MMORPG quests, but it is better than in the beginning.

As with Gargoyles, Wolves and Drowners can be fecking annoying enemies when there are 4 or 5. Sometimes you get hit by one and they swarm and you're on 0 health before you get a chance to dodge anything.

Ok I need to know where I am in regards to the end of the game as I won't be able to play it from Friday 6pm onwards. So I want to explore as many of the side quests as possible but I also want to finish it. Can someone tell me without spoilering how far away from the end I am, hour-wise?

I just turned Uma back into that Elf guy and was told Ciri is on the Isles of Mist or something like that.
